That's what I'm worried about too. London isn't known for great weather. But you are 100% correct in saying that Blake is mentally strong. He's hungry and coming for the thrown which Bolt still currently owns. I think it's awesome that they train together. Bolt knows he can't afford to showboat against blake like he did against everyone in Beijing.
I agree with everything you said until you hit the plateau note. Glenn Mills is the best sprint couch there is for right now and if Blake sticks with him, he doesn’t have to worry about that.
I think it was a smart move for majority of the Jamaicans to train locally and not in the States, you would never know what they be drinking, look at Mullings one of the few that train in the USA now he's band for life, its sad he was a upcoming talent..
I have to agree with you that Safa did beat Blake at the Jamaican trials and that is one of his better performances. I was very impress to watch him come from behind to take that race. However, after that he got hurt and that shattered is confidence once more. He then later pulls out of the World Game, while Blake went on to win it. Later that same year in Zurich at a Diamond League meeting Blake beat him because he gave up at 90M. Blake then went on to run 19.26 in the 200M.
You're right about that. Blake is certainly capable of running even faster than that 19.26. But for now, I think Bolt still has the best chance of winning the 200. I think he has it in him to slightly dip below 19 seconds if he runs the race of his life. With Blake breathing down his neck I don't think that will be a problem. Lol. If everything goes well and they're both at 100% and the weather isn't too bad I would not be surprised to see one of Bolt's records fall.
Thanks for the correction. But still, my point was he ran his 19.26 in a one off race. He didn't do multiple rounds of the 100m and 200m. He's capable of it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't run near that time again this year.
9.90 WL in april and the season hasn't even officially started yet. You're telling me blake hasn't shown improvement from last year?? Remember he ran 9.86 at the JA invitationals last year which was in May and that was wind aided +2.1 wind. There is plenty of potential in Blake. Remember 4 years ago the same thing you're writing now is the same thing people we're saying about Bolt before he exploded.
I agree with you in saying that Bolt is the favorite to double. But I don't think his 200 will go under 18.9. He could very well go under 19.1 , but everything would have to be PERFECT for him to run under 19 seconds though. I can definitely see him running under 9.58 in the 100m. Also Blake probably won't run anywhere near that 19.26 in London. Remember he has to run 4 rounds of the 100m and then 4 rounds of the 200m. When he ran that 19.26 that was just a one off race.
safa was in low 9.7 shape last year but the injury fucked it up again!! i believe he'll finally run his sub 9.7 this year, but it wont happen at the big stage,it will happen at one of the smaller meets
my prediction for London assuming good conditions: 100M 1.Bolt-9.48 to 9.52 2.Blake-9.68 to 9.72 3.powell-9.77(if he don't choke) 4.Gay-9.82(he is injured) 200m: 1.Bolt-18.87 2.Blake-19.22 3.Dix-19.55 4.spearmon-19.61 5.lemaitre-19.71
DRBush678, After evaluating some of powell's race and the one against blake, I have to admit that you are right. However, I was basing my view on the fact that Asafa did beat him in the jamaican qualifier. I guess I really thing Asafa has so much potential, but he is not strong mentally. I really want to see him redeem himself. This is his window of opportunity to do so
Guys are giving blake too much props. He first have to start running in the 7s before getting to the 6s. He won't run lower than 9.76 this year. I think this bolt vs blake is hyped to attract interest...money is a motive for organizers and sponsors. If bolt is in top form this year then it won't be as close as some make it out to be. Realize that bolt has ran under 9.7 twice and yohan has not even gotten down to 9.7s yet. It takes time to improve a p.b. and this is not yohan's time.
no problem,i agree that blake has to prove yet to run a great 200m time after the 100m/200m heats and im sure he will,he's mentally very strong like bolt or tyson and unlike asafa lol my biggest concerns are the british weather and probably strong headwinds
Olympic 100m final (assuming zero wind) 1st Bolt ~9.60 2nd Blake, low 9.7s 3rd Powell high 9.7s I don't see Tyson Gay performing at his best, hearing about his ongoing groin injury. He might get bronze though.
DRBush678, I have to admit that even thought I give the edge to Usain, there is still a good chance that Yohan may beat him. It seems that Bolt lost a bit of confidence over that last year and what once was thought that he is unbeatable is no longer the case. ..at least with Yohan. I see Yohan's confidence growing stronger each race while Usain is now second guessing himself. I think if he performs extremely well leading up to the olympics then he will have the same swag that he did in 08, 09.
Frater - Bolt - Blake - Powell. I think Frater is better than Ashmeade, but that can be discussed. Bolt with the LONGest run of the 4. Blake, who is amazing in the turn. And Asafa starting his run MUCH earlier than in most of the relays. I think we might even see a 36.7, if all goes perfectly. But most likely.. around 37.00 again.
Asafa is still my second favorite sprinter after bolt. I feel he will do great this season..will give blake a spanking in olympics. I think the media is hyping how bad bolt beat him in the anchor leg. No doubt that Bolt can beat him, but he had a bad exchange and gave up early..race would have been closer.
don't know why people complaining saying powel had to stop if you look he did catch up back on usain but then bolt put the effort into and ran faster to get away
lol wow the difference 3 months make...bolt looks great on his leg but not in the best of form in the national trials placing 2nd behind Yohan Blake in both the 100m and 200m but the bright side is that Jamaica has 2 sure medalists in the 100 and 200m finals in the Olympics :D #TEAMJAMAICA
I would have to see Gay beaten Gatlin at the U.S trials to even consider him a threat to the beast. In my opinion he will have to beat Gatlin for that bronze.
Waitttilnightfall,I don’t think Blake will beat Bolt this year either. After the 09 World Game, Bolt decided to take the year off, while Blake was still progressing. Bolt now realize that Blake is on his tail and starting to take his training seriously after the 19.26 showing by Blake. Nonetheless, Blake is still young and anything can happen in the 100M.Bear in mind they both have the same couch and probably on the same program. Bolt is older and training ages do make a difference at this level
Maybe 18.8 is a bit of a stretch but I believe that bolt can run 18.9 when he ran in 09 he was tired, his form was bad leaning back rather than staying upright he was running by himself. you have to remember that blake will be stronger than he was last year and his coach I'm pretty Sure is training him to run for the rounds in London. I remember when micheal johnson was placing doubts about bolt breaking his world record because he thought the rounds would tire him out but he proved him wrong.
Well powell to start it off he has the good start ashmeade then blake then bolt ashmeade should get a long look hes improving what about carter he's running well powell might be out because of injuries so we will see or jamaica should have two teams, carter, frater, powell n blake then clarke, ashmeade, young n bolt 2013 ,
Each country is allowed only 3 athletes per event in the Olympics. If this was world championships then that would apply as the defending champion get's a bye.
I am not so sure about beating Blake. If it is close race Powell will give up. I do not have anything against Safa. I want him to get the gold but it seems as if he always wasted his opportunities. On the other hand, Blake got one chance and took advantage of it.
How do you mean Safa corner is not dark? The thing turns up on high and Safa cannot handle it mentally. He is never going to beat Bolt without psychotherapy.
@nitrousdaking, not saying Blake is not good. Just saying that he cannot beat a fit Bolt. If Bolt is off his game this year and not 100% then yes he will. Bolt ran the fastest 100m last year and he was not on top of his game. Yohan may eventually exceed bolt. maybe next year, maybe couple of years ago, but not this year. There is still a possibility that Yohan is one of those runners who shows great improvement but then suddenly come to a plateau and cannot improve anymore
the hand over between Carter and Powell was poor, if it was better the race would have been more competitive in the final 100 although Bolt would have still win anyway... I hope Blake and Bolt Join up with Gonzalez for the 4x4 in London, want to see the Jamaicans end the USA dominance in the 4x4 relay?
Blake can't compete with Gay in the 100, let's be real here. No bias just facts, Tyson Gay would destroy Yohan Blake in the 100m, and supposedly Gay is supposed to be injury free now, so sub 9.7 is definitely a probability
When Bolt hits his stride he looks like a gazelle lol, he covers soo much ground!
That's what I'm worried about too. London isn't known for great weather. But you are 100% correct in saying that Blake is mentally strong. He's hungry and coming for the thrown which Bolt still currently owns. I think it's awesome that they train together. Bolt knows he can't afford to showboat against blake like he did against everyone in Beijing.
thank you for the upload
solid point DrBush678, I enjoy your insight.
I agree with everything you said until you hit the plateau note. Glenn Mills is the best sprint couch there is for right now and if Blake sticks with him, he doesn’t have to worry about that.
He ran a 9.82 100m at the Jamaica International Invitational in Kingston, Jamaica on May 6
Too right man. If Bolt gets off to a good start in the 100 it will be good night nurse.
Even in the rain - World leading time.
Doan bout unuh but mi still amazed dat Jamaica have like di 10 fastest man in di WORLD an counting!!! SPRINT FACTORY to rahtid!
Ahh, thanks for the heads up.
nice upload
hes running in races on the 25th, the 31st, and june 7th then the jamaican trials and one more event after that before the olympics
I think it was a smart move for majority of the Jamaicans to train locally and not in the States, you would never know what they be drinking, look at Mullings one of the few that train in the USA now he's band for life, its sad he was a upcoming talent..
Bolt and Powell took of at the same time, you could tell he was eager to get ahead of bolt but he left a little to early for the pass.
Who were the starters for Racers and MVP?
dang those long strides are awesome but the london olympics he ran 9:63 he so awesome i wanna take those long strides
I have to agree with you that Safa did beat Blake at the Jamaican trials and that is one of his better performances. I was very impress to watch him come from behind to take that race. Has Bolt run at all in any competitions in 2012 other than this race?
You're right about that. Blake is certainly capable of running even faster than that 19.26. But for now, I think Bolt still has the best chance of winning the 200. 36.84 WR Olympics london

If Powell's 3rd leg had been better at THE HAND OFF, could Asafa had made it a contest? Bolt is pure speed too, wow!
Cool
usain is looking reaaallll gooood
very true
I agree with you in saying that Bolt is the favorite to double. But I don't think his 200 will go under 18.9. It is time for Frater to resign the backstretch to Blake. That was a madddddddddddddd second leg.
safa was in low 9.7 shape last year but the injury fucked it up again!! i believe he'll finally run his sub 9.7 this year, but it wont happen at the big stage,it will happen at one of the smaller meets
my prediction for London assuming good conditions:
100M
1.Bolt-9.48 to 9.52
2.Blake-9.68 to 9.72
3.powell-9.77(if he don't choke)
4.Gay-9.82(he is injured)
200m:
1.Bolt-18.87
2.Blake-19.22
3.Dix-19.55
4.spearmon-19.61
5.lemaitre-19.71

Powell took off a bit too early and made his teammate catch up, loosing valuable time in the process. Bolt got the baton perfectly...
It seemed like Powell took the baton outside the zone.
DWL!!! Sometimes ah wonder mi self! lol!
The relay of Jamaica in 2012 (Yohan Blake, Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell and...)
no problem,i agree that blake has to prove yet to run a great 200m time after the 100m/200m heats and im sure he will,he's mentally very strong like bolt or tyson and unlike asafa lol my biggest concerns are the british weather and probably strong headwinds
this topspeed looks faster than what he has at 9.58 but he has running start
Olympic 100m final (assuming zero wind)
1st Bolt ~9.60
2nd Blake, low 9.7s
3rd Powell high 9.7s
I don't see Tyson Gay performing at his best, hearing about his ongoing groin injury. He might get bronze though.

steve mullings?
No, Asafa got the baton in his lane here, although he did step into Usain's lane before recieving the baton
WHat a big stride!
i was like bolt turned on the after burners lol
Yup, his fastest 100 this season's 9.76 already :D
Asafa lost his key phrase of the race, the man's drive phase is unreal
asafa was jus foolin around here,he will give bolt a hard time in rome next month
Are you sure Olympic champions don't get a bye? If they do, can 3 others from that country compete or is it just 2 others.
I am predicting a 9.67 for blake in London. He will be two meters behind Bolt's 9.52, Asafa, Gay, Gatlin and Dix will battle for the bronze
don't know why people complaining saying powel had to stop if you look he did catch up back on usain but then bolt put the effort into and ran faster to get away
Damn, he left asafa in the dust
blake actually ran 9.80 last year in kingston
lol wow the difference 3 months make...bolt looks great on his leg but not in the best of form in the national trials placing 2nd behind Yohan Blake in both the 100m and 200m but the bright side is that Jamaica has 2 sure medalists in the 100 and 200m finals in the Olympics :D

Jamaica should go Powell - Blake - Ashmeade - Bolt in London. 36.85 - 36.95 if in that order.

,
dude u should be careful with those numbers, its always rainy and windy in london and in other british cities
i agree that he will never beat bolt, but I think this will be a good year for him. He will beat blake though
Each country is allowed only 3 athletes per event in the Olympics. If this was world championships then that would apply as the defending champion get's a bye.
Jamaica will occupy 4 lanes in the London Olympics 100m final.
if he's still doing Track.. remember he might be playing football soon! haha..
Safa corner darkkkkkk

Well, two top comments are the same. lol
a wha dem man a nam man , suttin ina d food a yaad , nuh normal man nah run suh fast
dat nuh fair fi asafa. di game did deh pon hard. usain thief!!

michael frater
real talk ...him cab beat bolt once him get the betta start
dude not 4 rounds anymore ,3 rounds since daegu
nope,but they can easily lower that 37.40 NR, i predict a 37.25
bolt stride length nah normal boi
USA gonna take gold in the 4x1 in London
Usain got the stick first....Of course he'd win
overdrive
exactly, lame baton exchange through asafa, we can't see the major speed between asafa and bolt
Bolt saw chicken
CARTER POWELL BLAKE BOLT WR
put up some more no people
I bet asafa gettin tired uh bolt
I already know lol
