    We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. No surprise that some people are losing a lot of money in the bear market, while others are making hundreds of thousands in profit. I just don't know how they do it. I have about $89k now to put in the market.

    • @GregMerchant

      Understanding personal finances and investing will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend, and invest their money. I know someone who made over $350k in this recession influenced market, but to the best of my knowledge, it was through a financial advisor.

    • @Norrieey
      @Norrieey 2 месяца назад

      Yeah, financial advisors could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. I have been using an FA since 2019, and I return at least $21k ROI, and this does not include capital gain.

    The fact that markets direction into a recession or higher highs hinging on one organizations decision shows we don't have free markets. We have the illusion of a free market. And the fact that they can decide to socialize the losses away when they need to also shows that theory correct. This market just seems to be people are trying to outpace their losses with the debasement of the currency by the federal government. And is forcing people to go riskier and riskier on the curve even despite knowing there's looming signs of recession in economic downturn.

    Does anyone else see the mortgage business picking back up? I work at a bank and it's the worst it's ever been. The last 2 years has been very slow, but this last month has been completely dead. Maybe that's just my area?😅

    Why Fed lower the interest rate if we are not in recession? Just because to help Wall Street to make more money!

    It’s not tanking, healthy risk off the table ahead of JH. 50 BP reduction in September. Blow off top. Then the tank rolls in.

    Kevin, I have to ask at this point why are we as a government listening to the Fed. Cut interest rates without them. Just force it. They are not a constitutional body of our government.

    Eh - it had to pull back. I agree that the fed has an incentive to favor recession over missing on inflation, but that's the nature of a central bank controlling everything. They always err on the side of caution towards any circumstance where they can react rather than proact.
    What's being missed here is the signaling - rate hikes were a signal to keep money out of equities. A lot of cash went to the sidelines in 2021 / early 2022 and since then the rate hikes have always been a reaction to money coming back in. Rate hikes are the fed's way of saying, 'deflate the equities and make your money off of shorting and pump and dumps." Watching how the market worked the last couple of years, that's how it changed. When the fed cuts rates, it is a signal that money can move back into equities, but it has to do it slowly and market makers are going to pump and dump through the process to bring in the whales carefully.
    If you are a trader, watch for short traps followed by fast upward trends that hit a level and immediately sell off to about the 50% mark between the high and the short trap range.

    You're right about moving slow, but rates have to go up...not down. Government spending is what needs to go down. Steer into a controlled depression....or spiral into complete collapse.

    Why do you call it flips? I don’t think you are throwing your past analysis out the window you are just saying for now we price in this good news or bad news. Doesn’t mean the bigger picture changed. I feel like you are feeding the hate comments for no reason. People who say you flip flop have no idea how markets work.
