    It's curious, because it still works out to 4/4, just with the accents in different places towards the end of the form. I see the merit in thinking of it as having those bars of 5 and 3, and how thinking in just 4 causes you to miss those accents built in. I wonder how Herbie thought of it...

      Counting is not the problem. But Herbie plays so rhythmically varied it sometimes takes you to hear the meter differently

      @@DaanSchreuder I had the exact same problem when transcribing Herbie’s solo on Scarborough Fair. There are so many moments where he either phrases over the barline or drags the time super hard. His line starting points + accents also make it tricky.
