Why did the Constitution of Ghana specifically mention " Asantehene " and goes on to mention the others as " Paramount Chiefs " , if the " Asantehene " is also a Paramount Chief ???
The constitution of Ghana is supreme!!! The constitution recognises Asantehene and the paramount chiefs on the SAME LEVEL. The constitution mentions Asantehene because Asantes (Ashanti region) have their own unique structure of chieftaincy with Asantehene being the head/leader of all the paramount Chiefs in Ashanti region (only), so the constitution has to recognise Asantehene together with the other paramount chiefs in the other 8 regions (at the time). This doesn't elevate Asantehene above the paramount chiefs of the other regions except for Ashanti region (as far as the constitutionof Ghana is concerned). I hope this clarifies the debate.
You’re totally wrong !!! Otumfuor the Ashanti King isn’t the king of only Ashanti Region. Otumfuor kingdom goes beyond Ashanti Region. Let me mention but a few, Oti Region, there are paramount chiefs under Asantehene, Berekum , Tuobodom, Bechem,Duayaw Nkwanta, Nkoransa, ( Bono Region ) and all Ahafo Region. etc. Asante isn’t a Region. Asanteman is bigger than Ashanti Region.

Examples are Dormaa and Techiman. Stop making it look as if Asantehene is over and above these paramount chiefs in the other regions and that, they are slaves to Asantes. That's the impression you guys give. The question to ask is this: the written constitution vs tradition, which is older??????? So if you base an argument on such a prmeise, you will completely ignore and distort history, norms and traditions. The law certainly factors in all those values of a people, but it cannot define them because the already existed. Paramount cheif and all the other classifications of traditional authority by the Ghana constution is obviously a modern constuct. The Domaah Hene is wrong about that. He cant define how cheiftaincy and traditions should work just because he is a Sunyani High court judge.
