As an Indian cricket fan, Looking back at this in 2021 , after everything is said and done, nothing but MASSIVE RESPECT for Cricket Australia, Australians, Warner and Smith. It would have been very easy for Cricket Australia to paper over these issues, hand soft bans to players and move on (BCCI would have done that), but they didn't. Australia as a nation was outraged, they held their players to a very high standard and handed severe punishments, much more than they deserved. Yes, all this happened because they got caught, but, who here haven't made mistakes? They paid their dues and came back stronger than ever. Great story. Australia has a great cricket culture and as much as I hate to see them win and perform this well, I genuinely appreciate their contribution as a cricket playing nation. Cheers!!

@@VikramKumar-ws4rn ho and read news bro before smith there was ground managment team brroming the pitch so there were no scuffs left for smith to remove. XD
I'm a cricket tragic and I understand that what they did was blatant cheating and personally I think the punishment that they were given was correct, if not a little bit harsh (just for comparison, Afridi chewed on the ball and got a 2 match ban) but the thing that disappointing me the most is how people around the world has treated this situation. Smith, Warner and Bancroft have all given their apologies and acknowledged that what they did was wrong, so I think we should put this behind ourselves and move on.
Mishra Man thank you. There is a thirst for blood, especially in Australia. The coach is gone and now people want the chairman of CA to resign. At what point do we say, “They cheated, they’ve been punished. Let’s not do this ever again. Move on.” We can argue until the cows come home about whether they’ve cheated before or whether more players knew. We will probably never know. I don’t think it’s fair to say they’ve been at it for years based on one instance. Other players have been caught cheating, does this apply to them? Look they might’ve been doing it for years, I can’t prove they weren’t, nobody else can prove they were. We just have to accept the official version of events I guess. I want this saga to end so I can go back to enjoying cricket again.
The Aussies are known for being bad sportsmen with all the sledging that they do. You can understand rogue players but captains of all teams should act with honour and play within the spirit of the game. I'm sure the coach knew about it too. It's a huge disgrace. I hope SA win the series.
Upful Soul. Faf Du Plessis has been done for tampering twice, yet he bacame and is still the SA captain. So before you ascend yourself to the moral highground based on nationality, be mindful that the Australian cricket board are the only ones thus far who have applied their own, more severe punishments for ball tampering. Meanwhile it appears that other nations cricket boards have done nothing or in the case of the BCCI, have strong armed their way to lighter penalties as in the case of Sachin Tendulkar's ball tampering incident.
Blame the boards. ICC gave Smith a 2 match ban but CA banned them for a year cuz Aus already has a bad reputation for cheating. These bans are mainly to show potential future cheaters that there's no tolerance for cheating.
He the youngest person to achieve this feat between the months of February and April while it's 72 degrees outside and wearing the color blue while having a letter D in his name.... That's a espn stat for ya
Shameful act, indeed, it is. In fact Australian cricketers have been involved, in the past as well, in many malpractices. ICC should have an unbiased way to tackle any wrongdoing by any cricketing body / cricketers.
Lol, Starc was the highest wicket taker in CWC 19 and took to 5 wicket hauls in the CWC 19, he got a 10 wicket haul vs Sri Lanka Cummins got a 10 wicket haul vs India Hazlewood took a 5 wicket haul Vs England and Pakistan. Even Mitch Marsh took a 5 wicket haul Vs England.
Same old Aussies always cheating….they had been doing this for years. David Warner and many of the bowlers in the Aussie team used to have sandpaper stuck into the inside of their long sleeved shirts. Such a shame for the game but thankfully they were finally caught.

@@bromeotorres6964 Not exactly. The dominant team was the Golden era in the 90s and 00s under Ponting. Aus lost its pedestal in world cricket after the old dogs retired. Punter pushed the limits of the gentleman's game but he never stooped to cheating but this Smith-Warner-Bancroft trio really thought they could get away with it, when cricket has 10 cameras tracking every movement of the ball. Not to mention hotspot, hawkeye and IR cameras.

This is the sport that matters to us fans and its really disappointing to see such cheats have been playing uncaught n damaging the reputation of the game. They shud ve been banned for life. I am an India fan and I want harsh punishments for all cricketers who are caught cheating be they Indian or Australia or Pakistani or whoever. The sport must not be damaged at any cost!!!!
This was all David Warner's fault. Australia was aggressive enough already, but when Warner got the vice-captaincy he came in with the attitude that the opposing team was the "enemy" and that it was Australia's job to "destroy" them. It led to a 'win-at-all-costs' mentality. Remember, this is the same man who punched Joe Root in the face in a bar in Birmingham over some minor or imagined slight. For David Warner a test match = a testosterone match. He needed taking down a peg or two, but this was ridiculous.
If you do such things do it while playing in the subcontinent where pacers, seamers are murdered. Or do it in australia where dead wickets are prepared. Why do it in good seamer friendly conditions in South Africa? Illogical.
it's the same old story where Aussie gets involved in non sportsman like conduct and gets found out. The world has heard and seen this all before. Shame on you Aussie. Again.
They admit because they were caught on camera. There were more than a few incidents in the past of cheating by the Aussies. But they never got punished or questioned. They had it coming for a long time. I have zero sympathy

Doctoring a pitch to suit a particular team must also be punished. Remove the art form out of pitch conditions. Standardize it. Weather conditions and players should be the only things that matter.
These players have literally no shame for themselves. They are just pretty good actors in addition to being good players as well. Yeah Steve and Warner are very good batsmen but cheating is cheating. And that's it.
Baseball is a feminine version of cricket with their big ass kitchen mitts. Cricket also the second most popular sport in the world so not exactly watching paint dry is it?
Krismelo Porthony Only because it's extremely popular in countries with huge populations (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh). However, other than about ten countries at most no one really cares about it. The same can be said about field hockey or table tennis which is very popular in China. I'm not saying that it doesn't count as being popular because most people associated with the sport are from specific countries but I believe that the diversity of interest should also be taken into consideration to determine the popularity of a sport.
Kostas You are literally watching a video about match between Australia and south africa with one brown person combined between both teams "Hashim Amla". And this is the biggest cricket match going on right now, next is England and New Zeland, again with one brown guy between both teams, "Moeen Ali"
Just Raphael I am aware of that and I know that cricket is very popular in these countries. I was referring to what the op said about cricket being the second most popular sport in the world. I know that it is a very popular sport but I think it's unfair to consider it to be the second most popular sport in the world based solely on the number of people who play or watch it. For example, basketball is much more geographically and culturally wide spread than cricket.
Cricket has 10 cameras pointed at the ball from different angles all throughout the match. It also has hotspot, hawkeye and IR cameras tracking every movement of the ball. And these geniuses thought they could get away with it. L-O-L
Bancroft, Warner and Smith have got off very lightly compared to the very unfortunate 17 yrs old at the time Mohammed Amir, who was conned by his captain and other older players into bowling No Balls. Amir got 5 yr ban and jailed. Everyone was happy to see Mohammed Amir play brilliant cricket for Pakistan in the Champions Trophy Final and win against India. One of the great comebacks in any sport. Period.
Fixing is a lot worse than ball tampering. Both Amir and Smith got the punishments they deserve. Great to see Amir back in action as a much better bowler.

Well once a cheater, always a cheater...
Cheers!!
Beautifully put, I completely agree!
"paper over these issues" I see what you did there you sly dog.
Take a plane to Australia and suck on their PP directly mate, why this indirect sucking
And there's a difference between mistake and cheating
how can you label an incident like this a "great story" I agree with your sentiment but we shouldnt be praising their behaviour like this
That’s a nice post, I’m English but 90% of Indians talking on RUclips are very rude towards aus and England. Clearly you love the game itself.
I agree, I hate the Aussies but they are probably the greatest cricket nation on earth
I'm waiting for Max and Stephen A's take on the ball tampering cricket scandal in the Australia vs South Africa match?!
I'm here after Smith crease tempering...
Its not exactly cheating but against the spirit of the game
@@anushjain100 yo but my question is why was he shadow practicing with left hand as he is righty and he did not have 3rd innings to bat
@@VikramKumar-ws4rn ho and read news bro before smith there was ground managment team brroming the pitch so there were no scuffs left for smith to remove. XD
I feel pity for Darren Lehmann...I've seen him playing
Darren Lehmann played test cricket for Australia, champ. How many Test caps do you have?
Honestly, I felt bad for Steve Smith. He looked like an innocent bloke but the pressure of losing made him do bad stuff.
Exactly what I feel
Move on.”
We can argue until the cows come home about whether they’ve cheated before or whether more players knew.
Mark Richardson thanks for your contribution
Blame the boards. ICC gave Smith a 2 match ban but CA banned them for a year cuz Aus already has a bad reputation for cheating. These bans are mainly to show potential future cheaters that there's no tolerance for cheating.
This is the incident which shamed Australian Cricket!!
And yet he did it again today in 3rd test vs India :(

Still say Warner was the mastermind here

Did he call it tape? Mate I’ve seen that stuff at Bunnings...it’s called SANDPAPER....probably 40 grit I bet lol. You guys are MUD Lol

Shameful act, indeed, it is. In fact Australian cricketers have been involved, in the past as well, in many malpractices. ICC should have an unbiased way to tackle any wrongdoing by any cricketing body / cricketers.
See your india most match fixers are from your team only
Why wasn't this a lifetime ban?
"I'll do everything to correct my mistakes", including sledging, scuffing the pitch and scraping the opposition batsman's guard.
Smith should be asked questions again for scuffing pitch/ crease against India in current series.
Starc and Hazi before Sandgate=😈
After Sandgate=💩
This proves the fact that they were doing that for a long time.
Correct.
Lol, Starc was the highest wicket taker in CWC 19 and took to 5 wicket hauls in the CWC 19, he got a 10 wicket haul vs Sri Lanka
Cummins got a 10 wicket haul vs India
Hazlewood took a 5 wicket haul Vs England and Pakistan.

Same old Aussies always cheating….they had been doing this for years. David Warner and many of the bowlers in the Aussie team used to have sandpaper stuck into the inside of their long sleeved shirts. Such a shame for the game but thankfully they were finally caught.
i watched the whole video and carefully read it and now i feel like i both know and don't know what happened
Basically, Australia tried to cheat against South Africa by trying to change the condition of the ball. And that was caught on camera.
Krismelo Porthony oh i understand that! i just.. don't understand anything else
the terminology, or the extravagance of it. was he acting? does it matter? what is existence? and why am i alive? the usual stuff.
They got caught tampering the ball with sand paper
why is that big deal? Pakistan did it 20 years with no fucks given rofl
i think Australians are more sports eccentric persons and dont want their country name to be spoiled in this cheating matter and with future perspective they have made this decision....ball tampering done for changing the movement of the ball swings with thrown ...search reverse-swing in internet....
The crying guy needs to be banned for life.
Adam Cronin First be like him

I've never heard about cricket so much in my life until this past week
Lol why, isn't it popular therw
It just shows how dominate Aus were. Everyone else was so happy to see them fall
@@bromeotorres6964 Not exactly. The dominant team was the Golden era in the 90s and 00s under Ponting. Aus lost its pedestal in world cricket after the old dogs retired. The reason it's got so much coverage is cause Aussies were always on the border of cheating. Punter pushed the limits of the gentleman's game but he never stooped to cheating but this Smith-Warner-Bancroft trio really thought they could get away with it, when cricket has 10 cameras tracking every movement of the ball. Not to mention hotspot, hawkeye and IR cameras.
@@RohitKumar-jp6wx Are you being serious? Every other country has been guilty of similar incidents over the years. It probably doesn't get reported in India because the board is too powerful. No way would the BCCI ban an Indian player for a year either.
Im a bit late here but just want to add that what disgusting moment in cricket history!
He needed taking down a peg or two, but this was ridiculous.
haha joe root did something wrong he punched him and did you see remarks of root being called racist by azeem rafiq

Again.

Did the Australian bowlers NOT notice the ball had been sand papered ???
Made you wonder how they did so well because they are no good at anything else.
to the contrary they have plenty of olympic medals
Warner had to be involved. I did sense that 4-0 Ashes defeat didn't add up, all the victories were inflated.
ESPN using F word? Strange
They will never change specially smith
Shady like Brady
Not really related, Brady only copped a 4 game ban and won a superbowl at the end.
They could have done this in their home but in overseas how can anyone thinks about too .
Cricket...about as interesting as watching paint dry
Baseball is a feminine version of cricket with their big ass kitchen mitts. Cricket also the second most popular sport in the world so not exactly watching paint dry is it?
*Krismelo Porthony* it's a boring sport to watch. It's cool if you're interested in it though.
What should have been inside,,,,what he said after it,,,,can anyone tell at 3:20
