I just watched a podcast with Jim Cummings, Rob Paulson, and Bill Farmer. Rob brought up a story of when he met Mel for the first time in his 20’s or 30’s. He said Mel was sitting around with his oxygen tank helping him breathe. He sat next to Mel and talked to him then he wanted to ask him to do something. Before he finished what he wanted Mel just took his oxygen mask off and said “What’s up Doc?” And Rob described it as just reverting back to being a child and he started crying
Mickey specifically never fought in WW2, as Disney felt the character wouldn't work as a soldier. That spot went to Donald (hence the sailor outfit) which for awhile made him one of Disney's biggest mascots.
Makes sense, since Donald always was a hothead. But after his time in service, he got violent. (And yes, I used to watch those WWII propaganda shorts of him and Pete. Bugs and Daffy did it better, though.)
38:20 The best example of this is in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" the scene with the handcuffs. "You mean you could have gotten out of that at any time!?" "Not until it was funny"
About that the film crew thought Mel Blanc was too OLD to voice nearly HALF of the Loony Toons characters in that movie that they didn't use him AT ALL.
The best part of Bugs Bunny is that his initial mannerisms, like munching on a carrot which rabbits don't normally eat, and catch phrase of, "What's up, doc?" were swiped from Clark Gable in the 1934 movie It Happened One Night.
Cartoons weren't for kids when they made the Tom and Jerry shorts, they were for people. That's why they smoke, and drink, and reference other adult topics. They didn't consider it a kid thing, it was just something entertaining they could put at the front of a film.
18:46 - there’s a (fairly) recent Batman comic that’s a crossover with Loony Tunes that ends with him in a bar with Elmer Fudd and Buggs sharing a drink fwiw. (Should be noted though they’re not the actual Fudd and Buggs, but reinterpretations of the characters as characters in a Batman comic).
I have a horrible sense of direction, whenever I get lost I always say I took a wrong turn at alberqurque. My sense of direction is as good as Zoro from OP. xD Didn't know it was first in a WW2 short.
I noticed when my little boy was watching micky mouse that when micky moves his head his ears move position to always shown the Disney/micky silhouette regardless of which way he's facing. That just sums up Micky and Disney for me
Speaking of Rob Paulsen his son (Ash) has his own RUclips channel he runs with friends talking about video games. Good Vibes Gaming is the channel name. He also does some voice acting too and goes to conventions with his dad.
Toonforce can do virtually anything, as long as it's funny. Aside from two caveats, one they can't create universes, and two, the cannot fatality wound someone. If you want to see the anime equivalent, look up Bobobo Bo Bobobo.
Guys you solved it! Or expressed it more easily idk. But the question "is it anime or is it a cartoon" it finally makes sense. If they can do anything is it more often to be funny? Or badass? This determines if it's a cartoon it anime, if the ass pull is comedic, cartoon, if it's badass, anime.
The way Steven Spielberg got the licenses for who framed Roger Rabbit is that instead of saying "no", corporations often quote an "F off" price that's high enough to end the conversation, and spielberg wrote the check. At which point frantic backpedaling and talks between lawyers ensued, but on the basis of "what did he actually just buy", "how to make it work" rather than whether or not it would be happening. Same for making his animators manually calculate and measure sizes for each frame drawn: he didn't ask whether they could do it, he asked how MUCH it would cost for them to do it, and then paid it. (There were some lovely "making of" documentaries on cable back in the late '80s and early '90s.)
I will not share this video because I refuse to enable addiction of any kind in anyone, but *especially* sneakerhead addiction. That shit is genuine madness.
Cuphead has Merrie Melodies vibe. Merrie Melodies is to Warner Bros as Warner Bros is to Disney. A few steps to the...I don't know. Into some kind of altered-consciousness dimension.
Even the Joker doesn't like Nazis though it might've been due to Joker trying to treat everyone equally. Authoritarianism though has risen a lot. While not part of this video but I'd argue that in DC Control Freak from Teen Titans could be the strongest being in DC as he gets the power of any being he watches so he could have the powers of a toon. I saw this on a different video but WB owns: Looney Toons, DC, and Family Matters/Urkel why haven't they done a crossover series. Ninja Turtles worked with DC too so why can't: Looney Toons, DC, & Urkel work together
I will never forgive the early cartoon makers for explicitly copying racist minstrel looks, and almost every other cartoon maker just going with it... Mickey, Bugs, and most of the rest.... explicitly minstrel characters. Still.
Assuming you're referring to the company as a whole (as opposed to just the animation department), I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that Bugs Bunny "built" Warner Bros. The studio had already done all right off all those gangster movies in the 1930s. You might as well say that the company mascot should be Jimmy Cagney or Humphrey Bogart.

Donald just saw too much!
Dude has the rank of sergeant and was discharged in 1984.
@@Tannerbot2k and yet the only time we saw him in uniform during the war was in a portrait for a Minnie Mouse short on rationing.

Most heartfelt "yeah" near the end, from Karl.

Bugs Bunny is 100% a part of my bisexual awakening. Bugs in a dress is still 😍 as far as I'm concerned.

Never forget Daffy Duck is a Green Lantern

Yeah Good Vibes Gaming is great! I often watch their content and they all seem like cool guys 😊

You could pass a blunt with Bugs Bunny.
Mickey would smoke the whole thing, narc on you, and then be like "Heh ha! I have glaucoma"
My little brother has a 3 foot tall winnie the pooh plush, we'd wrestle/beat him up all the time, nearly cost poor pooh an ear.
Love you just casually bullying lucas with dream shoes he can not afford lmao.

Bugs and SpongeBob are the two pillars of cartoon iconography that are beloved the world over.

Have you seen that newer mucky mouse show? The one with the body horror reminiscent of SpongeBob.

Who would win in 1 v 1 buggs or popeye

Bugs would beat both Superman and Goku teaming up
Bugs Bunny would trounce Goku, just saying.
If anime logic trumps comic logic and cartoon logic trumps anime logic then Gear 5 Luffy is the most powerful character ever created.
