I'm not really into SamSho V/SamSho V Special, so why does happen that instant loss of your player at second rounds? Is it a game's feature? Is it something related to the Shizumaru's character only, for instance? I already played it some times and watch other playthrough videos but never had seen such thing...
As for the question of why round 2 is a loss, there is a slow motion win at the end of round 3. For that, you must have one loss and your health gauge must be in blue. You can surrender with the ←→↘↓+[START] command; the answer is that you enter the surrender command at the start of round 2 and intentionally put yourself in a losing state. This is the same for all characters.
Really? It's and odd feature, isn't it? Now I'm really more interested to play SamSho V/SamSho V Special, the only one in the franchise I don't know enough... Many thanks.

零スぺは16年ぶりにプレイしたので相当難易度高かったです^^;
しばらくはサムライスピリッツに集中する予定です。
幻十郎・右京・火月も作成しますが、外道・炎邪・水邪あたりの
イロモノキャラもちょっと試してみたいです^^
