More than capable bro, I have had ms office running smoothly for the last 11 years. Video Editing is only possible with an older version of Filmora. But if you're using it for casual daily browsing, consuming content, or just for educational purposes, it is more than enough. Even CS Go runs at constant 60fps: 720p.
Yes I've seen many youtubers do that, but honestly I don't think it is practical to do that in 2022, most of the softwares which require more RAM are not available for the last OS this machine supports which is 10.13 (High Sierra). Anything above 8GB is more than enough for handling daily tasks.
@@bhavykhatter6375 Install Windows 11, then you will be able to do productive work with modern software. Mine's running 32GB Ram and M5000M Quadro GPU with Windows 11. I also installed a Xeon Processor.
It officially supports 16GB of RAM. I've read multiple blogs claiming it goes up to 20GB as well. However, someone attempted to check in their Activity Monitor and found that even after installing 20GB, only 16GB was being utilized. Regardless of what the system indicates, it doesn't use more than 16GB. I want to emphasize that I'm unsure about this information. But one thing I can confirm is that I've replaced my SSD and upgraded RAM to 12GB, and my iMac (mid-2011) works super smoothly.

It takes significant force to remove the RAM. I'm not certain if this will be effective, but it's the only idea I have at the moment-try attaching something like tape to the memory and attempt to pull it out.
Also, you don't have to remove the existing memory chips; I did that just to check the RAM specifications. Just insert the new one into the available slot.
@@bhavykhatter6375 Thank you for replying! Actually I let the iMac without working for a night and in the next day it boot normally, lol. So I just let the old memory there.

For upgrading RAM you only need a philips screwdriver to open the RAM door, installing SSD is a bit more complex than this. You'll need the following items - screwdriver kit, suction cups for removing display, HDD bracket (For cloning old Hdd to new SSD), HDD to SSD converter (to put inside iMac), New SSD and RAM chips of course. No thermal sensor is required, simply buy a SATA splitter and insert one end in the iMac, other in the HDD to SSD bracket, and let the third one hang(tuck it behind the bracket). Thermal sensor by OWC is just a scam, there's nothing such as a thermal sensor on the HDD. I've tried this and it works perfectly fine

I wanted to ask I have a iMac mid 2011. It says that the total memory you can put in it is 16Gig. I noticed mine has 2X2GIG in the top two slots and 2X8Gig in the bottom two slots. So at total of 20gig memory, but the system specs say the total can only be 16gig. Are those two second slots even working? How can I find out? It does say now that there is 20gig in the computer.

2011 iMac with SSD is 🤌 but if you're planning to use any latest software (for photo/video editing) consider buying 2015 iMac since you get a lot more software updates. If I'm not wrong you'll easily get 10.15 on 2015 iMac but you can't go beyond OS x 10.12 in 2011 which is a big drawback. It is still very good for consuming content, browsing and office use

Holy shit! You've got three hands?!
Since you used both 2 and 4 GB SODIMMS, do they have to be ordered in a certain way, such as the 4 on one side and the 2 on the other?
Nope, you can install the memory in any order
