Amon amarth are one of those band that are great at transporting you in to the stories they tell, and as a history teacher with an obsession with mythology and folklore, I couldn’t want more.
I don't listen to Amon Amarth offen, but I like them. What I always found curious, in comparison to some other Bands I heard in this or similiar genres, is that you can still understand pretty much every word of the lyrics. So great. And that song is absolutely epic
Been following you since your original Nightwish reactions popped up. I had absolutely no clue you were a tried and true metalhead on top of everything you do opera wise. Much respect man.
There are two covers of "Twilight Of The Thunder God" well worth listening to... RAGE OF LIGHT - Twilight Of The Thunder God (AMON AMARTH COVER) (Female growl and layer of non growling singing) Sabaton - Twilight of the Thunder God (feat. Peter Tägtgren) - (Not growling)
Yes! You are among the very few who cover these bad asses, they need way more coverage than you and all the comments could ever get them. They are amazing. I love Amon. Surturs fire and in the pursuit of Vikings is epic as well
Thank you, i have been trying to get alot of other reactors..is that what they are called? To react to this Epic song, thank you thank you sooo much. Swedish metal needs to make it to a universal audience 👍
@@tubelious for sure! Don't get me wrong I listened to amon a lot between let's say 2006 and around 2013 or so and I really liked them very much, owning all the albums until 2013 or so, But I still don't get why you hire a legend to record a solo only to not pay the needed respect afterwards to learn it properly... I mean I'm only a hobby musician and I can play it better... Not 100% clean, but a least some kind of close...
Same here. I like a little compositional skill with my testosterone (Nightwish, Epica, Dream Theater, Sonata Arctica, etc.). But for them that wants this, have at it. What's amusing is that there's more rhythmic and melodic variation in Heilung.
@@alanfoster6589 I want it!! I listen to all the bands that you mentionned but I do think you can judge only on one song. In the end you do what you want. It also depends on which spectrum of music or specificaly the metal genres you are into. For Dream Theater I could say that since Mike Portnoy left the songs and inspiration are not at the level of Scene from A Memory and A Change of Season. I am no hater of Mangini. I never put testosterone with Nightwish. My adrenaline rush are not the same with Nightwish. Not one song of them could go on my workout playlist. For me they are an emotional and super catchy band! I do not feel like breaking things with them and pound my hand. Heilung maybe more rhythmic than Amon Amarth but it is a whole other ballpark! Happy Friendly Fire! Good day to you!

The best growl? Nah. They among the best though. You want the best/smoothest growl. Old school opeth, not whatever the helm they are doing recently, not my thing. But old school Mikeale. Or however you spell the foreign version, of Micheal. Is the best. When he still did it
@@CharlieCalottaReacts ahh, I hope so, one Opeth, from the “deliverance” album to about a year so ago, is the mainstay for metal, and hard core…they went like jazz, or something…sore they can, is their right, but not my thing, b I t say early 2000’s to 2020, you can’t go wrong for them and metal and his voice and growl, and super clean highs, melodies, etc, the killer band, it’s a more hardcore NW basically that’s the best summation I can think of, but also extra and harder,
Ok i was almost gonna sub to you for that mustach alone but hesitated but then you did this amazing reaction too :). Me personally never liked growling metal but i heard this band early 2000 in Göteborg second biggest city in Sweden and man i could hear every word in this growling singer :). Been hooked since then they only gotten better plus im a huge history nerd with preerance towards iron age early medieval. Skål from Sweden i hope you do more Amon Amarth
Hello, it's me again. 😁 I have another reaction suggestion for you. An artist called Libra got a bunch of other artists from the metal scene together (one of whom is my favourite cellist, Eicca Toppinen from Apocalyptica), and from their homes they recorded an amazing cover of "It Doesn't Matter Two". The official video was released a few days ago. ruclips.net/video/exluPmHSHJY/видео.html
I've always appreciated how well he enunciates while maintaining that primal growl.
Hence why he was always my inspiration. Such a clean growl thats understandable

You should listen to Unleashed.
Big hug to you Esmee from Sweden. We share same inerest there and i totally agree got that iron age helmet on atm drinking from a horn lol..
Then you should listen to Sabaton

Was standing like 3 meters away from them, such a sick band. Guardians of Asgard is abother amazing song by them.

Johan almost sounds like this when he just talks. Doesnt need to change much and easy to understand
Listening to this song my beard grew 2 inches!

Gothenburg style! All of Sverige! DT, In Flames, ATG, Dissection, Opeth, Soilwork and a lot more! Hej!
I love his deep voice! When he speaks, his voice is just as deep, very masculine!
Johan Hegg is an AWESOME down to earth dude
Dude's been at it since '92, if not before.
He has a bit of experience.
Best live performance metal band on planet earth... Johann NEVER mails it in... 6 concerts and every single one was top notch!
This song probably was played late in the show. You could really hear he did not had enough air :D
Johann Hegg is a Beast.
I'm highly offended by the way roopes solo is played here. That is the cilmax of the song... At least on the studio recording...
well, Roope is on different level as a musician.

From what I've heard, they can't play that solo exactly live because of some issues with Roope
I don't know shit about singing but really appreciate your channel
i've yet to see any reaction to their song "Varyags of Miklagaard"
Best voice in death metal by far. As if a chainsaw and thunder had a baby.
Charlie, I've been waiting for your take on my Amorphis (live) request since before Christmas 😂 It's in the queue.. I'll wait patiently 😉
Why did my comment disappear? You might want to watch the two teasers the HU published. Seems a video link doesn't work anymore. 😑
My favorite song by them.
Has anyone ever seen Charlie and Marc Ribbillet in the same room together? O_O
Please try... DEMOLISHER from Slaughter To Prevail
Swedish Vikings ! Guardians of Asgard! Johan and the boys in pursuit with Thor!
The clearest growls out there. Always impressive.
Pretty dead audience, though.

First time listening to Amon Amarth and I concede their technical proficiency. Not my cup of tea, however.
