The lube on the GMMK Pro apparently sucks. The same can be said about the stabilizers themselves. Try using a different kind of lube (clean existing lube off with alcohol&q-tip). If that doesn't work, try installing different stabilizers.
LGR on LGR: composed human with a script, lots of research, calm demeanor, straightforward and collected. LGR on Blerbs: absolute madman, just ramblin'.
There are black foam pads underneath the stabilizers and they absorb the massive amount of lube that was put there from the factory. That causes them to stick. If you remove those black foam pads, it should prevent any sticking.

Nice choice Clint! As a custom keyboard nerd, the GMMK Pro is a really damn good place to be for the price. It's mostly been designed for enthusiasts like myself who buy into group buys for keyboards that many cost hundreds of dollars, which is why it feels so super-premium in its build. Yeah, ever since I got my "gaming mechanical keyboard and mouse" from the local *gas station* for $25, I've always been interested in a suitable replacement mechanical keyboard. Fortunately the membrane OEM keyboard that came with my old HP AiO is actually fantastic, feels really good as far as membrane keyboards go, so I just use that. Mouse was actually inoffensive enough, the mouse 4 and 5 buttons are VERY squishy, though I wish you could disable the "RGB lighting" in it like the keyboard. I have no replacement at the moment, so it's _fine_ for the time being.
I prefer the drop custom keyboards cause no bezzles making it so much easier to clean. Though I do highly recommend the glorious mouses, never going back to normal mice after experiencing that weightlessness.
There's something about a keyboard that's suitable for use as a blunt instrument that can kill with one blow, and not take any subsequent damage. Does that imply bodily fluid resistance? You'd need to go rinse it off in clear water after a few minutes.
Yeah $170 without keys/caps. Probably will cost more than a HHKB when done. I do like the look and heft of it though, but I'm also quite happy typing on my unicomp model M. I'm considering getting their new TKL Model M when they finally offer the version with the longer space bar.
It's actually quite cheap for the custom keyboard side of things. About as cheap as you can possibly go for an actual decent quality build with keyswitch sockets. Once you get into custom chassis and PCBs you're looking at more like 300-400$ before keyswitches and caps... Gets expensive real fast.
I'm pretty sure that the particle board keyboard tray on my cheap Office Depot computer desk would bow if I put that keyboard on it. It would be so worth it though. That thing looks sweet. I think the only thing I would do different is I would use black keycaps for the WASD keys.
I wouldn't be able to use this layout. I use home and end all the time when programming and on any non-standard keyboard this is such a pain. Any laptop keyboard feels like a chore to type on mostly because of the different layout.
I have the regular GMMK that shipped with Gateron Brown and double shot ABS keycaps. It feels nice to type and game on but I prefer the progressive spring rates of switches like HyperX Aqua switches and will probably buy myself some Glorious Panda switches. I just bought myself some Corsair PRO keycaps which are double shot PBT with a standard bottom layout.
Same, I use too many AutoHotKey macros with mine to switch to a TKL or 60%. I suppose one could just get a separate Numpad, but that just seems like too much work.
I won't be using the heavy ones for the space bar, I like a light space bar... I'll use the heavy keys on all the modifiers, including the space bar, I love a heavy space bar 🤣
I got one of the first batch of the gmmk and had similar issues with the stabilizers. I would suggest getting some aftermarket stabilizers. I swapped mine with the durock v2 and it feels better.
Watching this makes me wonder if Clint ever experienced the old Sun Type 5 keyboards. Built like tanks (seriously, steel innards), and really nice key feel...

I wouldn't be able to use this layout. I use home and end all the time when programming and on any non-standard keyboard this is such a pain. Any laptop keyboard feels like a chore to type on mostly because of the different layout.
"there are 2 pages downs"
Welcome to the world of custom keyboards. I have 3 page downs, 3 shifts, and 5 alts.
You were using cheap keyboards before, thats the difference. I would recommend swapping out the stabs for TKC c3's (lubed up).
That is a magnificent company logo!
Well I suppose...it's a glorious company logo! :)
clint uses (used) gatheron blues, I feel validated now.
Me too. I've shamelessly put SA keycaps on mine. The fact that he likes clicky switches at all is rare!
@@candyak9985 Only devil worshippers like clicky switches. :D
@@EdU-od5ec HAIL SATAN! 😁🤘
I wouldn't be able to live without numpad haha :D
Same, I use too many AutoHotKey macros with mine to switch to a TKL or 60%. I suppose one could just get a separate Numpad, but that just seems like too much work.
I won't be using the heavy ones for the space bar, I like a light space bar... I'll use the heavy keys on all the modifiers, including the space bar, I love a heavy space bar 🤣
I got one of the first batch of the gmmk and had similar issues with the stabilizers. I would suggest getting some aftermarket stabilizers. I swapped mine with the durock v2 and it feels better.
I recently got the same and love it apart form the same issue with the space bar.
If you want to try another board that still has a rotary knob but doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, check out the ‘TM680’. It’s a fantastic board!
Watching this makes me wonder if Clint ever experienced the old Sun Type 5 keyboards. Built like tanks (seriously, steel innards), and really nice key feel...
How about a typing of the dead benchmark score and head to head for this one Vs your past favourite? 🤔🧐
14:23 "I like knobs" - LGR 2021
I was waiting for you to talk about your Ducky Secret mouse.
9:30 - I soo want to touch those right now! I'm not a keyboard nut but that looks and sounds really neat!
I had a choice to get this or save a bit and get NIZ x87. I've got nice since it's electro capacitive and something different. no rgb though... so not sure. Will be here next week
