- Come join us for Croatian food in Zadar, Croatia where we order red wine, two mains and two desserts in what ended up being an absolutely delicious meal. In fact, we enjoyed this place so much we ended up eating there 3-4 times in just a few days. It was that good. All in all we ordered the following food/drink items from the menu:
1) Two glasses of house red wine (200 mL each)
2) Gnocchi with truffles in a truffle cream sauce
3) Black ink risotto with cuttlefish
4) Panna Cotta with berries
5) Cheesecake with sauce

So it is time for actually lunch and dinner because it is the middle of the afternoon. Yeah. So we didn't really have a proper lunch today let's be honest. We were just kind of snacking at home before we left. Yeah. And we've been filming most of the day so we've worked up an enormous appetite. We are so ready to eat. Oh yes. So we have a favorite restaurant in the city.
So okay it would appear that the name is Konoba Skoblar so in we go. In we go.
Starting things off with the wine then. And we've become quite familiar with this one. Yesterday we were trying to figure out what hints can we smell and taste in here so let's try once again. I like how they give us a nice generous portion too. I know that is a big glass of wine. No stinginess. I think that is 200 mL.
So the hints I believe, same as yesterday, it is the same wine. I was going with black cherries and what was the other one? I think you said raisins. Raisins. Yes. I said black cherries. I think it has a bit of currants.
Okay guys the food is finally here and no surprises here. We've ordered the truffle gnocchi. This is our third time having this dish and we have not grown tired of it. It is so good. So it comes in a cream sauce with truffles. It is wonderful taken to a new level. Yeah. So you've got like the truffles in the sauce and then you have the real truffles on top and then you have like the grated cheese. It is just amazing. This is so good that I could be having a really bad day and if I came here and had this that would make it all better.
Okay so in we go for dish number two. Yes. What are we having? So we are having black risotto and that comes with cuttlefish. Cuttlefish. And my gosh that ink is something else. Look at that. I'm leaving smears on the side. Oh my gosh it is so good. Yeah, again it is really creamy and also the cuttlefish is so tender. It almost melts in your mouth. I thought it would be more chewy but it is not. And yeah, it is great to have a second pasta. It is like they really complement each other because their flavors are so different.
Initially we were planning to share one dessert because that was a lot of pasta but then the waiter came over and Sam was like I'll have one of each. So now he said do you want panna cotta do you want cheese cake and I was like I can't decide. So let's get both.
What is best? Oh my gosh. I love cheesecake. So cheesecake for the win? This was so good too. Like they're both really good but man. Okay let's be decisive here. Okay, I'll choose cheesecake. Haha.
Alright alright how are you feeling after that lunch / dinner? Bulging belly at the moment. That was 243 Kuna which was 32 Euros total. Two glasses of wine, two mains and two desserts. Now it is time to crawl into bed and pass out. Highly recommend it and yeah I'm so done. See you guys next time. Bye.

I used to live in a flat right above that restaurant while I was studying in Zadar and sometimes I would treat myself to a meal there and I can honestly say it's one of the best places in town

It's all about the truffles! Wow, what a great meal! That gnochi seemed so delicious! And the desserts! I am impressed about the prices. To pay about USD 30 for such a high-quality meal plus wine for 2 sure is such a great deal! And you guys are so funny!

That gnocchi looked astoundingly yummy.... Audrey made me laugh trying to figure out what a cuttlefish is and she said i think i ought to google it... but maybe after eating....Audrey you should check out cuttlefish they are one interesting creature ,they're keeping their eyes on you

That restaurant is surely a good reccomendation. And your meal looks very very nice & yummy indeed! At a reasonable price too, for Zadar in the high season.
Only one thing: none of the dishes you ate in this vid is actually "Croatian". These dishes are popular along the coast, due to strong influences from west and north, but Croatian authentic cuisine is something else. ; )

I like gnocchi too :) yummy, I remember my first dish in Rome -gnocchi in tomato sauce with mussels :) I wonder how could I like this meal you had ! Does the gnocchi in Zadar taste same good like in Italy?? Any differences ?
Thanks! That sounds delicious. The one from Zadar had truffles so it was a first for us to try. The quality was excellent. As good as any pasta we've had in Italy.

Art Kavana - amazing atmosphere, coffee and cake (my fav is nougat cake)!
Slastičarna Donat - best ice creams, yep! :D
Slatka Tajna (literally 'Sweet Secret') - amazing pancakes (salty and sweet)!
Harbor CookHouse & Club - great staff, food and coffee!
Famous Bar - great pizzas and grilled food! It's slightly farther away from the centre of the city, but definitely worth it. They are right near the coast which you can enjoy while eating, but also have delivery in case you cant's go there.
Konoba Rafaelo - amazing grilled food and large portions! :9
Stari Most (literally, 'Old Bridge') - the best cevapi in town!
Tamaris - the best lamb in town!

empty restaurants are the best for filming and taking pics. knowing when its going to be open and empty is the real problem. I guess you just have to be lucky!

I went to Zadar 3 weeks ago and I was surprised how expensive it was. Food is delicious but it cost me €29 for fish meal with a drink at a restaurant called Troha, it’s a nice city thought. I enjoyed it very much.
