Love that you are highlighting USA bats. Too many channels only focus on the latest USSSA bats. Would love to see you do a review of the Dirty South Made. My 10 year old loves it. The USA Hype Fire coming out later this Summer would make a great video as well. Keep up the great content!
I think a lot of kids like watching other kids hit balls... especially when comparing bats. Maybe it is me, but I think baseball dads do as well... possibly for benchmarking/comparison purposes of both bats and also age/development of the kiddos too. Mine is 8.5 and he has had a 52mph bat swing using Blast Motion and also a 52mph for exit velo using a separate radar gun.
Illuminating comparison. My son is 7 and has been swiging a cat9 USSSA bat all summer, but now that the season's over i switched him to a cat connect USA to train with. For a player like him who has decent power but doesn't barrel up a lot of balls, the differences are greater, he's only now stinging his hands for the first time in his life and he's hitting the soft part where the alloy meets the composite sometimes. So i'm concluding that the difference in performance is due to skill of the player--my 8u kid who is used to forgiving bats would probably hit the icon much better in this comparison, whereas with a more well-trained hitter, the differences will be a lot smaller.
One more thing: a metric that i find helpful for comparing bats is an average of the top 5 hits--that way it's a decent sample size and you know the swings were all close to max effort and optimal execution. It can be done with velo or distance, tougher to do with distance.
Video request - what verbal communication do you teach your older teams (16U+) on fly balls and pop-ups? What used to be “I got it!” “You take it,” has changed to “Ball!” around here. The grumpy old man in me doesn’t like it because I often can’t hear players call the ball, and there is no verbal response from the non-calling player to acknowledge the calling player’s call of the ball. So what do you think? And what do they use in MLB?
Matt what speed is that you are using? My grandson just turned 10 and is using the Icon USA bat. I took him to D-Bats to hit some today and just wandering what Matty 's hitting speed is. My grandson isn't on any kind of travel team just local LL.
Are those all the same spec bats. Sounds like you have composite hybrid aluminum and different drops. You can’t technically make fair comparisons because each type will have different effects on the exit velocity. Your son has a great swing but to be fair to compare the specs need to be the same. A lighter bat especially if it’s balanced could have a higher velocity but doesn’t mean it’s going to be as hot as a bat that has a heavier drop. 4 of the hottest bats right now bonesabre by warstick. Rawlings Icon. Soldier tank and the Demarini zen. The hype fire bats are awesome but they have been banned by perfect game tournaments and others might follow. We were going to get a hype fire for my son he’s at the 14u level but because the bat has been banned at some tournaments already we decided to stay away. The bat bros did a great video on the icon, hype fire and the tank. The was the best all around winner. My done been swinging a drop 5 and a drop three bbcor bonesabre to get ready for the spring. Good luck with your upcoming season!
Looks like the Cat X 2 should be at the top of the list. He hit further with the CAT X....even with the differences.. the Aluminum barrel Cat just beat the Composite.
Who cares about him and the Gum okay people Leave The Kid Alone Okay or scroll on and find somebody else too Complain On Their Video but not his okay I do the same Exact Thing that the kid is doing okay
I have a kid who just turned 10 that has me pitch to him pretty much every day. Your banter is so similar to ours. Cracks me up

Because the usssa bats are the hottest bats on the market today. That's why there is so much hype around them pun intended.
Love how enthusiastic this kid is
Looks like the Cat X 2 is out doing the Icon. Even if it's so close Dude that's the ICON!!
For the Cat to be even with it says Alot!!

Is your son using an alloy or composite?
@@nynole1 both are alloys, so yeah its a little different from the video

I love having the kid swing actually but had to turn it down because it was smacking his gum right into his mic.
Nice work.
Generally composite bats need a little bit of pitch speed to perform their best.

I'm talking about the pitching machine speed. Thanks
Great swing. Congrats on your first dinger. I’m 9
