Secret no. 4 : there is no such thing as "unlimited" in the reality sense, as any company who offers such service will ultimately tell you in event of dispute, or they tell the judge in court.
Company cannot offer something they do not have. All data centers have a limit of hard disks. But let's hope we don't get to that point where we have to find out.
Another option is to buy a NAS (especially when you care about privacy)

Did you actually use Sync to upload files? You fail to mention the horrendous upload speeds. It’s practically unusable for photos and videos - it doesn’t hold a candle to the previous Dropbox unlimited plan’s upload speeds.
We do - and I've not personally seen issues with transfer speed recently?

I checked the site, it doesnt say "you can only upload 100 TB". It says "If you want to upload more then 100 TB at once, contact us first"
I have almost 90tb so ya .. 100tb is easy to use up

What happens if I try to upload one bite of data. Would it really be unlimited then. It's basically a fraction of the entire data or knowledge on the internet. And if that's the case how about I tried to prove its unlimited by uploading 20x of random data to Google Cloud to truly see if it's unlimited. That would far exceed everything currently on the internet.
All of these unlimited storage options are just a con anyway, they all advertise at lower prices but then require a minimum of 3 users, so this isn't $15 a month, it's $45 a month. Most filmmakers etc who need so much storage will just be one person, and that makes it a ridiculous price to pay. Looks like i will be sticking with the duplicate physical hard drive option
Or split yourself into 3 people to make the most of the minimum user thing?
This is not $15 a month when i went to check out its literally $54 a month or $560 a year im not doing that.

I cleared out/deleted everything and it still says I need to pay for more storage.
All Sync plans include strong encryption which helps protect your data from unauthorized access in the cloud. Unlimited storage is also a nice feature but it's uploading and downloading speed is pathetic. It may be because of Encryption, but compared to Mega, it is really really low.
Are their any storage apps that's unlimited for free without having to pay. I'm looking for an alternative to Google photos since they now have storage limit

Tbh any company based in a country like the US will have backdoors to the data.. US gov will force their way into it either by force or by law. No matter what Apple or the likes say.
Better choose a solution in a country that actually does have laws in place to prevent this kind of shenanigans.. I'd choose swiss over US any day.
At some point it's better to just buy your own storage and host it yourself
True! Just means you have to be sure about backing it up / protecting it etc! But it's definitely an option, and relatively affordable with how cheap hard disks are nowadays

I have my Truenas 90 TByte storage ~3.000 USD it has been running for 8 years now. So this made it cuts down to 40 USD per month.

Why would I buy this when I can get 1TB of storage each for up to 5 users by buying Microsoft Office 365 for $99.00 US per year? That's not $99.00 per user, it's $99.00 and includes up to 5 users. Plus you get all of the apps in the Microsoft Office Suite!
Because Microsoft Accesses your data the same way Google does. Also it's the same reason why people go to Dropbox or Google or all the other cloud storage services. They just want a better option, or more storage space! 👍🏼
