Health & Medicine on Khan Academy: No organ quite symbolizes love like the heart. One reason may be that your heart helps you live, by moving ~5 liters (1.3 gallons) of blood through almost 100,000 kilometers (62,000 miles) of blood vessels every single minute! It has to do this all day, everyday, without ever taking a vacation! Now that is true love. Learn about how the heart works, how blood flows through the heart, where the blood goes after it leaves the heart, and what your heart is doing when it makes the sound “Lub Dub.”
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy is a nonprofit with a mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. We believe learners of all ages should have unlimited access to free educational content they can master at their own pace. We use intelligent software, deep data analytics and intuitive user interfaces to help students and teachers around the world. Our resources cover preschool through early college education, including math, biology, chemistry, physics, economics, finance, history, grammar and more. We offer free personalized SAT test prep in partnership with the test developer, the College Board. Khan Academy has been translated into dozens of languages, and 100 million people use our platform worldwide every year. I am also a nursing student and not only did you help me get an A in microbiology and get into the program, but now you're helping me through the program! You are an amazing teacher and immensely talented. Just as Albert Einstein said "if you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." You explain everything so simply and I thank you so so much! You are great, Sal!

I am a nursing student at Penn State. My professors a awesome and all, but we can only cover so much in one hour of lecture (per week) and then the lab is more doing things then listening. I am not sure why you post these videos or who you are, what you do... But you are definately a reliable resource that is helping me understand what I need to know to not only get good grades and pass my exams, but also you do it in such a way that I can remember it and apply it in my nursing. Thank you

I'm a third year Microbiology student and Khan Academy has not only helped me pass but achieve my aim of coming first in every class for the past two years. Not only that, I'm a teacher's pet because I'm always the first to understand any new concept and am able to help my fellow classmates(they don't know my secret of course, feel guilty about it...sometimes). Anyway, thank you Mr.Khan and the entire Khan faculty.

The right one is bigger than the left because the heart takes up some of the space that goes there. Also notice that you got your left and right lungs mixed up. It is probably because you looked at the diagram and associated the right side on the diagram to the right side of the body but keep in mind that the guy/girl in the diagram is facing you. So his/her right is your left. So the "left" side of the diagram you see actually represents the right side of the body.
