this was excellent. it is clear that he is an amazing actor, but also his script is both well-written and demonstrates familiarity with the series beyond someone who vaguely knows about star trek. it all combines to be an excellent piece of work. laudations.
I love his understated sass, and deadpan delivery gives a great edge to his comments about our tardiness and disregard of starship protocol. His spa day prescription feels all the more sweet and imbued with an emotional depth that wins out over his Vulcan detachment. It’s really affecting and I think I have a big crush on this character now, along with many, many others in Jim’s repertoire. Sorry if that’s an inappropriate comment, and makes anyone feel uncomfortable! Much Agape to all!

As an autistic person, I always wondered what a Vulcan would think of us neurospicy individuals. I’d like to think/hope they’d be a bit fascinated by us, that the interaction would perhaps go like this one. (…provided they didn’t grow increasingly insulted by my subconscious mirroring of their natural tone and mannerisms. They were depicted so perfectly here. This was an amazing video.)
I think Vulcans would be too logical to be insulted by something that can be explained so easily. As an aside, how did Data interact with Vulcans? I don’t remember any specific instances, but I’ve always thought of a lot of aspects of him to be a nod to Star Trek’s autistic fans.

This type of communication is so comforting to me. I feel overwhelmed and uncomfortable with strong emotional displays. My ex always told me I was robotic, cold, and unfeeling because I would stay pragmatic and level when he would get heated. It always hurt me that he didn't understand that if I got emotional it wouldn't help, it would just escalate things. I'd be calm and controlled because I cared enough to speak thoughtfully instead of irrationally. He never got it. Thank you, Jim, I'd love to see more Vulcan videos, they're very reassuring.

I've never watched Star Trek (well, not yet, anyway) but this was a fantastic video. I love how you managed to incoporate aspects of traditional ASMR (medical exam, trigger noises, personal attention, etc.) into a narratively cohesive storyline. I think Dr. Spock would make an excellent CBT Therapist; pointing out all of our cognitive distortions and self defeating coping strategies that make no sense, and helps to have someone point them out. His logic and level headed perspective would probably be very therapeutic. He’s also quite compassionate and sensitive towards us, so I would definitely sign up if he branched out into mental health care. Allow me to share my delusional? (Idk man after finishing the video I don't think it's that delusional) take on this particular character because this was extremely immersive and I could NOT help but imagine a storyline as the video went along because I've had a thing for Vulcans for over a decade now: We are actually dating him, but we're keeping it a secret because people will gossip if they find out a Vulcan is dating a human and we want to avoid it for now. However, we had an argument of some sort with him recently, maybe over him accidentally dismissing our feelings about something that happened to us that maybe wasn't "that big of a deal" but made us upset, and maybe we needed some time to cool down before coming back to him and talking things through with him and making up. However, because although Vulcans are very rational they also feel things very intensely as well, it is likely he thought about the argument a lot and feels that he needs to apologize for it, in his own way. But, since we are working and Vulcans are VERY professional, this is his way to show us he cares while making sure to stay professional the entire time. We are late because we're still a bit angry, and in his way he tells us that (maybe) it hurt him that we were late this time. Then as the video progresses, we understand what he's trying to do so we start to soften up, and he also notices. And by the time we ask him if he's flirting, we're already back in a playful mood because we completely understood what he's doing with this checkup. Now, once the mind meld happens, we see how he feels about what happened and he sees how we feel, and we probably even think that we love him, which makes him go "oh" because it means we still want him. Then he asks us on a date while acting professional the whole time, and keeps calling us "friend" only cause we're keepig the relationship a secret.
@@jkhartley1260 I certainly think it's possible! Vulcans do _have_ emotions after all but they suppress those emotions through meditation. I think a vulcan with strong enough emotions could very well have a romantic relationship! Also, there are some vulcans who are theorized to have been in romantic relationships (Spocks father for one, but I think that one is cannon actually) so it's definitely not unheard of.

My father was in love with Star Trek, and would show me TNG as a child in the early 00s. I started to share his love for the show. I keep coming back to TNG, the creativity of the show is fantastic, and the crew is wonderful. Sadly my father passed away from cancer two years ago.
This video is very special to me, as it makes me feel like a part of the crew on board the enterprise. Thank you. My father would not understand ASMR, but I would like to think I would want to share this video with him.

Aw, shucks, I can’t believe I missed this coming out! I’ll consider it a boon to’ve seen it now, anyway. I find this Vulcan individual to be very agreeable! I think they’d be an incredibly lovely friend, and I would consider it an honor of the utmost caliber to engage in any number of discussions for the purpose of better understanding feelings as a concept! I feel as though, with Vulcans, “still waters run deep” is probably the aphorism of choice, but as for my new friend, there’s a definite burble in their disposition as well!

I've never watched Star Trek (well, not yet, anyway) but this was a fantastic video. I love how you managed to incoporate aspects of traditional ASMR (medical exam, trigger noises, personal attention, etc.) into a narratively cohesive storyline. This was honestly great and made me want to check out more of your videos. Excellent vid :)

I think Dr. Spock would make an excellent CBT Therapist; pointing out all of our cognitive distortions and self defeating coping strategies that make no sense, and helps to have someone point them out. His logic and level headed perspective would probably be very therapeutic. He’s also quite compassionate and sensitive towards us, so I would definitely sign up if he branched out into mental health care. Also, are we going to see a follow up to this video, enjoying a spa day together? I think a few of us are just a little bit eager to see that happen, judging by the comments here! Allow me to share my delusional? (Idk man after finishing the video I don't think it's that delusional) take on this particular character because this was extremely immersive and I could NOT help but imagine a storyline as the video went along because I've had a thing for Vulcans for over a decade now:
We are actually dating him, but we're keeping it a secret because people will gossip if they find out a Vulcan is dating a human and we want to avoid it for now. However, we had an argument of some sort with him recently, maybe over him accidentally dismissing our feelings about something that happened to us that maybe wasn't "that big of a deal" but made us upset, and maybe we needed some time to cool down before coming back to him and talking things through with him and making up. However, because although Vulcans are very rational they also feel things very intensely as well, it is likely he thought about the argument a lot and feels that he needs to apologize for it, in his own way. But, since we are working and Vulcans are VERY professional, this is his way to show us he cares while making sure to stay professional the entire time. We are late because we're still a bit angry, and in his way he tells us that (maybe) it hurt him that we were late this time. Then as the video progresses, we understand what he's trying to do so we start to soften up, and he also notices. And by the time we ask him if he's flirting, we're already back in a playful mood because we completely understood what he's doing with this checkup.
Now, once the mind meld happens, we see how he feels about what happened and he sees how we feel, and we probably even think that we love him, which makes him go "oh" because it means we still want him. Then he asks us on a date while acting professional the whole time, and keeps calling us "friend" only cause we're keepig the relationship a secret.

Do Vulcans ever have romantic relationships?
@@jkhartley1260 I certainly think it's possible! Vulcans do _have_ emotions after all but they suppress those emotions through meditation. I think a vulcan with strong enough emotions could very well have a romantic relationship! Also, there are some vulcans who are theorized to have been in romantic relationships (Spocks father for one, but I think that one is cannon actually) so it's definitely not unheard of.
