    When I had them bromeliads about 20 years ago, I had learnt from a friend that had given the first plant by telling me that they grew very well on tree branches! That's why I like them to be grown in this way as our weather here is equatorial with often afternoon rain and sunshine whole year round. I water them during dry spell. Otherwise, they're just simply maintenance-free! Thanks for your videos.

    This was great info, thank you so much. I've just moved into an apartment where the only windows for plants are on the North side so I'm doing my research on what will grow happily there. Bromeliads are my fave so far !! 😊

    Hey, Rusty! How long on average does it take for, say, Aechmea's, to take hold onto wood substrates etc...months...year? Given the plants have nice tropical conditions as I live in. tks!

      During the summer, with its high heat, light, and moisture levels I have seen them start to attach in five months...autumn and winter will take longer due to decreased seasonal growth

    We moved to gulf coast south FL three years ago and planted a couple trees, they are young and don’t offer real good shade yet. Do these have to be in shade? Many of my bromeliads i scavenged from yard trimmings put on the curb! I thought I had to plant them in the ground or pots. Love your channel!

      It's difficult to know an individual bromeliad's sun tolerance without some prior recommendations. The best way is by real time testing... if unsure about hardiness place them in the spot and keep checking them once a day (more often the closer we get to the summer solstice) and look for bleaching on the foliage which will let you know to move them to a more protected spot. Thanks so much for watching!

    Is it possible to grow this way only with high humidity when at home or water in the cup is enough?

    • @islandbreezetropicals1276
      @islandbreezetropicals1276  Год назад +1

      Keeping the cup hydrated is all that is required, but humidity would not be enough. Thanks for watching!

      @somi hmar I disagree, this video was very informative and showed exactly how to hang the bromeliads. @Island breeze tropicals I actually think all your videos are informative and very interesting. I'm inspired to give all my bromeliads some much needed TLC.
