You joke about a steam Engine on the Metrolink but it has happened! It happened on engineering train for the Metrolink but a brilliant video and the HSTs are always awesome!
It's more fun to travel on unexpected lines when a normal service train does it unexpected. I've done Sheffield to Mexborough via the freight line, also Castleford to Church Fenton. Another unusual line was engineering work on a Sunday between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride we went towards Polmadie and reversed to Muirhouse South Junction!
Nice to see the Class 43 HST at Derby. They are such an iconic British built diesel passenger train that dominated pretty much of the UK including England, Wales and Scotland.
living in the southwest makes people talking about the HST as if it is dead and gone feel weird considering theyre still used in some capacity down here
My son was on that train too @minionjosh & he was Birthday Boy as he was 21!! 😅 It was the start of a long weekend of celebrations for him. By the way, he’s got that cup at 12.50 too😅
Was great seeing you both on the tour. Was a great day out. 😁😁. Also thank you ewan for joining me on my trip back home. Was a great laugh 😂.
Good meeting you too, agreed it was a great laugh! 😂 -Ewan

It also happened when they took Thomas down to Queens road for a depot open day in the 90’s.
Fond memories of the 125, in its early days.
