This looks really great! I've been making chainmaille for more than 10 years and I actually have never tried the spiral weave. I had a mental block and couldn't get it right! But NO MORE! I watched all your spiral videos! Thanks so much. (may I ask, are you using AWG or SWG?)
Very impressive design. Thanks! I would call it Double spiral rope chain. Seems like this is the best way for homemakers to get this old school rap look, like Mr. T from A-Team :D In the regular rope chain the links are left with small gap for the links to overlap. Its made that way so it keeps the twist evenly. But i think this makes the chain too stiff, or weak if its not soldered after every few links. But this pattern you made solves the stabilizing twist issue in "spiral 6 in 1" and accomplish the similar look like rope chain. What gauge did you use on this and how big rings? And have you tryed it with 3 chains? I think it might look good with slightly thicker center chain.
I just came across this video as a RUclips suggestion so I thought I'd have a watch. I have 13 years experience making chainmaille weaves of all skill level. Apologies but this isn't actually chainmaille or a real double spiral. You can't wrap two weaves into each other and call it maille. A true double spiral is a rope chain made with rings woven in a pattern using the appropriate A.R. matching the wire gauge being used to create a 4in1 weave that spirals...sorry if I came across as harsh but, if you're going to teach, at least respect the art enough to not cheat the beauty of chainmaille.
@@magdamanzano2142 Alas I cannot. As it as not been discovered yet. Spiral is actually not recognized in the community as real chainmaille, it is considered "true" chainmaille if holds its shape. This weave is done mostly for it's simplicity. I would assume it would take two different size A.R. to properly make it as i have been trying for years to create the weave properly without having to weld rings to keep their shape.
@@magdamanzano2142 All I can really offer is another "cheat" method of what I call a "double spiral" just for sales purposes while I figure out the right A.R that lets the spiral chain hold it's shape and look like Rope Chain

Very nice. you got nice ideas. If you add one more to it, I think it will become a complete round chain. Greetings from Holland.
Thanks for the vid. I'd never thought of doing that. Great idea.
hey, Christie! Its my pleasure :) thanks for watching!

I didn't see a link for learning how to make the spiral.
Right?
That's not a double spiral weave, but it is preaty!
Hey, Jacki, there are lots of different names for all the weaves. What do you call this pattern?
Yvonne Williams--Never seen it done like this befor, so I don't know, but it's beautiful!

Can you share the way you do the double spiral weave? Thank you.
