I hope DJ had his full race kit on when he annihilated the Mad Sunday amateurs. Could you imagine the looks on their faces during the WTF moments - as The Master howled past?! What a privilege. The guy left us far, far too soon.
His riding style is the epitome of smooth and fast, showing great patience and remaining smooth throughout. I see a lot of people up there all over the place but ultimately going nowhere near as fast. And then usually end up getting scraped up off the tarmac eventually. That’s my commute to work by the way!
D.J was the consummate professional. Note how he doesn't undertake slower riders to get past them, was patient and respectful but was still blisteringly fast across the mountain - unlike some the total idiots I've encountered over there during TT who think that it's perfectly okay to act like a total twat and undertake going into a bend 'because it's a racetrack'.
Just goes to show even mad ass racers are sensible and give respect to other slower riders as he did on this run R.I.P. fella left us much much too soon.. This rider could and would have been one of the best if not the best pure natural talent not a lot of thought just pure natural skill.. This sort dont come around too often do they ?? To cap it all off he really was a nice chap from what I could see never met him much to my loss but did follow his carear and he was destined to be one of the greats you could say he did acheive that in his short life Not too many tears as he did what he loved and loved what he did better to do that in a short time than just fester over a long time ?? R.I.P. David and as always our thoughts as corny as this might sound go out to your loving family who without doubt are so so proud of what you were and what you acheived God Bless !!
I've done a lap of the TT course. Going down Bray Hill was terrifying. I felt the suspension really compress at the bottom. I was so glad the bus wasn't going any faster.
To answer a previous question, the revs go up when banked over because the more you lean over, the tyre's radius gets smaller and smaller, hence up go the revs. DJ leant a lot so its quite noticeable!!
This is what true riding skills is all about. That run was fucking nuts!!! No car whatsoever can give you that experience and adrenaline rush as bikes do.
D.J was breaking records every year and still would be!. Respect to McGuiness and all the other riders who put their lives on the line on the mountain circuit, but if D.J was still with us they'd be kissing his tail pipe!
This was the year of the mad cow decease , when the TT was cancelled . He passed us that day just after the goose neck , I was on the zxr 600 . Overtaking a car , Dave passed me on the right hand side , I jumped out of my skin . I was following my mate and filming him , I still have the footage of Dave passing us that day .
The rolling circumference of the tyre is smaller at the shoulders due to the cross-sectional shape of the tyre, so the wheel has to rotate faster at a given speed.
the revs are also increasing due 2 the power that u have 2 put down in a corner. drop it down then when u know ur safe u hit the throttle and go, the more power u can put down in a corner the more grip
just what a true hero....a great shame to a man who just loved his sport ...r.i.p.. i.o.m is his grave stone all who ride it respect it ......great rider dj.....
McGuiness is the current top man and he has my full respect. D.J was top man when he raced on the Island, until he met his untimely end. It was the same with Joey Dunlop. They are ALL road race gods, EVERY rider who takes the challenge of the Mountain Circuit, or any other road circuit for that matter.
Think you've misconstrued what we were talking about. Yes, sadly there was a rider and 2 spectators killed in a racing incident at the 26th milestone on the Mountain section during the last lap of the Senior Race in 2007 , but we were talking about 'members of the public' riding irresponsibly on open roads, and not about riders taking part in the TT Road Races.
Man... in my own particular way, I also like to be the fastest on any road. I live in México, so it is possible to achieve it mostly everywhere, cause the police aren´t as interested in speeding bullets more than drug vans.... By the way, stimulant drugs or primary impulsivity, are a bad combination with a bike. I sold mine and am getting a race car. Nice video and nice driving too. Keep it up and be safe.

I absolutely loved this guys riding skill! Plus he was a humble man too 😢
Felt like i was in a game riding in safe mode!! DJ was so smooth and in these 6 mins 22 seconds we were treated to a tt god... rip dj
After all these years, this is still my favourite on-bike TT footage. It just shows the gulf between the top riders and the rest of us.
great rider used to go to college with him used to be a plant fitter believe it or not

A masterclass by a Master. As noted previously...DJ always respects other riders and passes on the right
It's always a treat to watch a master at his tools.

4:08 shows how much in control of that bike - legend never to be forgotten.
Absolute legend, can't believe it'll be ten years this year since that fatal crash. RIP big man
Absolutely incredible footage!! I wonder how many said to themselves "shit where did he come from". HE WAS THE MAN. Laters DJ
I hope some night I even have a dream that I rode this well. RIP David.
Priveliged to have known such a great rider, never forgotten
10 years today....gone but not forgotten.
awesome! truly a great rider
'Those who risk nothing, do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothing.' Still one of my favourite DJ vids. Still sorely missed :(
Steven Moss Very true.
There are risks and then there are extreme risks. Those who take extreme risks may often die young as is the case here. Is it really worth it?
Still sends shiver's down my back i wish i could ride a bike even half as good RIP fella.....
So smooth and makes it look sooooo easy. Year after year he broke the average speed record...the guy was a genius. RIP Big Dave.
David Jefferies één van mijn favoriete piloten!rip champ🙏
love how he blasts past lads thinking oh im quick then meeeeeeeooooooowwwwwwww!!!
So good to watch again and again,so miss the rides out that we had.
So smooth. Not a twitchy moment, he was the man.
Your prediction was spot on. They didn't take much notice...just kept binning themselves every day, I'm surprised more weren't killed on the Mountain.
Wow. A true TT hero.
Miss you DJ.
My hero, utter respect, rip.
Peter Gunton mine too
2:49 porsche n fireblade racing each other, wonder what they thought when the master came past like they were standing still :D
legend, missed by many.
I've done a lap of the TT course.
Going down Bray Hill was terrifying. I felt the suspension really compress at the bottom.
I was so glad the bus wasn't going any faster.
Rip x remembering you today

amazing... much respect
The best for ever! Dj! RIP!
pure poetry in motion
First class high speed riding,
Anyone who can ride that course, that way, is a master.
This is what true riding skills is all about.
That run was fucking nuts!!!
No car whatsoever can give you that experience and adrenaline rush as bikes do.
RIP - truly an inspiration
So fast yet so controlled, an awesome rider who was just so fucking capable.
Brilliant
Great skill really going to miss seeing him race RIP

The radius (and hence the circumference)of the tyre is smaller at the ouside edges due to the shape of the tyre when viewed as a cross-section.
What a LEGEND!!! R.I.P :(
There's a full lap at race speed (in two parts) by DJ from TT2002 on here, if you look for it.
Still won't be this year that i'll be there...
Hope I won't be to old to ride when my time comes...!
...unreal! now that guy could ride!!! fast,smooth...very,very talented....anybody any ideas what the bike he's riding in this clip is???

Fuck me static!!! He must of made everyone jump out of there 'kin skin when he shot passed em! Legend!
legend...
They're all heroes.
Rear end slide at 1min 49 😜. I doubt the race teams would allow riders to partake in mad Sunday any more, some of those blind corners were scary!
very very very good awesome
beast mode
What bike was david on
5:21, grounding the bike at full tilt while negotiating two cars.
This part of the TT course is one way for the duration of the TT (two weeks)...if you think this guy is hot, you should have seen him race!

The rider in front of Jefferies at 2:07 is very fast!
But not quite fast enough!
Must have been mortified when DJ passed him as if he was stood still.
Looked like a ZZR1100 from the back, maybe wrong.
not sure but i think it was a suzuki gsx1000
didn't see anybody pass you dave. god speed.
