I had to try this among many other videos I watched and failed at, and these instructions opened my bike lock that I put on some twenty five years ago. Took me only five minutes at the most. I would tend to think that today's bike locks might not be so easy to crack. Thank You !
roadrunner Awesome man! Many people have had similar experiences. Glad this method worked out for you! It actually still works on SOME new locks. I found a 2014 name brand lock sitting in the middle of a parking lot one day worth just over $40 at the time, had no clue what the code was and I was able to use this method to open it 👍

I don’t understand the question. If you mean does this still work on new locks, then the answer is it varies lock to lock and also depends on the quality of it. I once performed this on a $40+ lock so you never know

Thanks for the upload! It worked! I found a bicycle cable lock at the train station, and I thought I could crack it, using a technique that you showed. Only I didn't think to oil it, which apparently is the key. The funny part is, I took a photo of the combination before I messed with it. And guess what? The combination was only off by the last digit. But I cracked it after spinning everything and not looking at the photo, using the method you showed.

Obviously the combination ones are a lot more convenient.
One key lock I have is very aggravating, because you need the key to lock it even.

Another combination bike cable lock that I found, I was also able to crack, but it didn't really count because I just turned the last dial and Vala! Plus this lock was on a bike that was in the trash, so I figured the person could very well have only changed the last digit - so that doesn't really count as a crack.
- also with that lock, the combination is 0 0 0 5. Maybe I should change that, because I think they come with the combination 0 0 0 0, so somebody that wants to pick it could just go to all zeros and change the last digit and pull, as would be the obvious easiest method to try.
- don't want to lock myself out though
Another funny part, is it took me longer to find the lock, where I put it 2 days ago, then it did to crack it!

I had a fairly new Master bike lock 4 digit preset combination so the gaps were very minute but worked like a charm. Thank you👍🏽

Hi, I have a question if I don’t have any wd-40 on hand is there anything else I can use to lubricate the lock or is it possible so do so without the wd-40
Its possible but it can be the difference maker in some cases. As far as using something else to lubricate the lock I honestly dont know, you would have to use your own discretion there. Hope you are able to get it open, thanks for commenting 👍
Wd-40 is so common, usually a neighbor or friend would have some on hand and you could use a few sprays.

All you need to do is put tension on the lock (pull on it) and cycle each wheel through the numbers pushing the wheel to the left. If it moves over the number is correct so move on to the next wheel. The last wheel will open the lock when you hit the right number. That's how I've always done it since I was a kid and I'm 64 now.
David Scott If the lock ends are curved it can be difficult to keep constant tension, but if you can utilize that method I’m sure it would work great. Thanks for the advice David
how can you do this with word locks? Instead of starting with all 1's do you use the initial word given to open lock before setting my own word to open?
sheila taylor if you already have the initial word given to open the lock then you don’t need to use this method. This method is for finding out the combination of the lock. To do this with a word lock, the premise is the exact same. Start with all the same letter if you want so you know your starting point and rotate each row one at a time until you see the gap opening as shown in the video.

Does this work with bike locks that go up to the number 9 on each slot?
That specification about the lock should not matter, it should still work. Some locks are more difficult or have preventative measures built in so this wont work for every lock. It does work for many and I would even say most though. Good luck David 👍

Will this work with letter combos as well? And is WD-40 actually needed?
WD40 is not needed but I've heard it made the difference for some people. This method will work the same for letter combos as numbers yes. It's the same exact mechanism inside both locks.

Lyn Smith No problem, sorry btw, I just got this. Hopefully you have remedied the situation by now. Oil can’t hurt so I’d try that for sure. A couple things come to mind. 1. The combination you are recalling is actually not correct (which I doubt is the case if you’ve been using it recently) 2. I don’t know where you live but it’s winter here and the lock could potentially be frozen ❄️. 3. There is potentially dirt or something else jammed up inside the lock preventing the rod from sliding free from the chambers once you have them aligned via the correct code. Hopefully these will lead you to solution, thanks for asking and good luck 👍

@@nextlevelnick9339 Hi! Nick thank you so much I appreciate all that effort thanks. Google is so lame I only just saw this reply but this is what happened. Having watched your vid, I decided to go to the bike armed with WD40. I poured it all over the lock, then following the tecnique you had shown, pretending I didn't know the number which I really did, I just looked as I was doing the numbers, one at a time. The first one, should have been a zero, but that didn't work... tried all number.. turns out, it had reset itself with 9 as the number to unlock. The other three I did one at a time and yes, they pulled apart at the correct number ... so from now on, I just use this new combination. Whole procedure took about five minutes! Thank you so very much. Only problem now is, I don't trust this type of lock any more he he but yeah, I got my bike back so, thank you!!!!

What do I do if the multiple digits cause a gap?
Zerathon unfortunately depending on the lock and how used it is, this may occur. What you have to do is just go with the best ones and try them out. You can also write down the numbers with the bigger gaps and then run through each series of possible combinations. This can take some time, but as long as there are not too many numbers you can usually find the correct combo relatively soon.
