My biggest regret in life is working hard and adding value to this society. Knowing what I know today, I should have "layed flat" and let it implode quicker. Similar boat. I grew up atheist, then I took a college level physics class and I came to the realization that this all cannot be here just by chance. Shortly thereafter, I had an experience out camping with some friends. I picked up the bible and read it for a year and in that time I was focusing on finding a girl that would be worthy of marrying, so I looked for the cleanest, best mate I could. "Coincidently", three girls I took out on dates that year all happened to be LDS. About 3-4 weeks after taking the last girl out, it all just clicked in my mind and I called up an old friend of mine and asked if I could go to church with him. 24 years later, I am still happy with my decision.

Many women blow it on constantly having car payments because they know so little about auto mechanics that when the car is paid off and needs its first big repair, they dump it for a new one because they just assume it's worn out. They also tend to mortgage themselves up to the eyeballs to live in the most upscale neighborhood they can find (and conveniently pay the most taxes), buy the most expensive car they can afford, spend lots on clothes, go to the spa, expensive vacations at bed and breakfast wine tastings, bar hopping on weekends, etc. Oh, you also can't forget, massive student loans for worthless degrees.

I have lived in Asia since 2003 (9 years in Korea and almost 10 years in China). I would say, YES Asia IS better than the US by just about any measure. South Korea is a great country to live in. China is worrying, but still better than the US.
@Anthony Smith It's really hard to say what will happen with China (I am living in China currently). The major problem it has is that the real estate bubble is about to pop. Meaning that there are TONS of apartment complexes being built (in various stages ranging from just a plot of dirt, to a building that looks like a concrete skeleton, to an actual completed building with nobody living there). Many people bought an apartment thinking it would increase in price. However, recently they found the SAME apartment for sale 15% cheaper. So many are not paying their mortgage. It hasn't totally collapsed yet, but when it does it's hard to tell what will happen (don't know if the government will bail people out, or do nothing)

I happen to know something about the cryonics subculture. Cryonics attracts disproportionately few women - the joke is that cryonics acts as "female Kryptonite." But in my experience the women who sign up for cryopreservation on their own initiative are generally trainwrecks. I can think of only a couple wholesome married mom types who are cryonicists, and that is because these women's husbands and children give them their natural sense of meaning and purpose. Similar boat. I grew up atheist, then I took a college level physics class and I came to the realization that this all cannot be here just by chance. Shortly thereafter, I had an experience out camping with some friends. I picked up the bible and read it for a year and in that time I was focusing on finding a girl that would be worthy of marrying, so I looked for the cleanest, best mate I could. "Coincidently", three girls I took out on dates that year all happened to be LDS. About 3-4 weeks after taking the last girl out, it all just clicked in my mind and I called up an old friend of mine and asked if I could go to church with him. 24 years later, I am still happy with my decision.

I've had an NDE (near death experience) which took away all my fear of death. I 100% know that God and afterlife are real. Religion gets a lot wrong though, ie. there's no judgment or hell, Earth is the closest thing there is to a hell.

You're 1/5 of the way through your adult life (assuming you moved out at 18, if you went to college that's not really living as an adult so maybe closer to 1/8). You've been getting male attention so far because you're attractive, but that will dry up soon. Are you really sure you're ready to live the remaining 80%+ of your life adult alone? Do you really want to spend the next 30-40 years working as a corporate slave? Will that corner office, the job title, and the big paycheck make it all worthwhile? It does for many men, because we're wired to derive satisfaction from achieving high status, but will it do the same for you?

I have lived in Asia since 2003 (9 years in Korea and almost 10 years in China). I would say, YES Asia IS better than the US by just about any measure. South Korea is a great country to live in. China is worrying, but still better than the US.
@Anthony Smith It's really hard to say what will happen with China (I am living in China currently). The major problem it has is that the real estate bubble is about to pop. Meaning that there are TONS of apartment complexes being built (in various stages ranging from just a plot of dirt, to a building that looks like a concrete skeleton, to an actual completed building with nobody living there). Many people bought an apartment thinking it would increase in price. However, recently they found the SAME apartment for sale 15% cheaper. So many are not paying their mortgage. It hasn't totally collapsed yet, but when it does it's hard to tell what will happen (don't know if the government will bail people out, or do nothing)
For most expats it's a chance to retire with dignity. Life is becoming far too expensive in the west.

I happen to know something about the cryonics subculture. Cryonics attracts disproportionately few women - the joke is that cryonics acts as "female Kryptonite." But in my experience the women who sign up for cryopreservation on their own initiative are generally trainwrecks. I can think of only a couple wholesome married mom types who are cryonicists, and that is because these women's husbands and children give them their natural sense of meaning and purpose.

Which they might not like any way. There is a plausible evolutionary argument (like Edward Dutton's) that a technologically competent society a few centuries from now is going to be not just more traditional and conservative than ours, but even "reactionary." It might look more like _Dune_ and less like the Burger King Kids' Clubs in Space we've been seeing in recent science fiction series. To fit in, these revived female cryonicists might have to assume roles they rejected in their earlier lives, like becoming space colonists' or warriors' concubines and the mothers of their children.
