Dude, thanks for making this video.. Im using FX3 as well & was considering on this monitor. The angle of the HDMI is an issue but is a smallone & easy fix, while almost everthing i need is all in one i package.. Will make a purchase on this monitor. 😁😁😁
I have the regular DC-550, not the Pro version. Considering i am finding this video 6 months later i wonder if Viltrox listened to you and started packing the unit with full HDMI to full HDMI or is it the pro version doesn’t come with full HDMI? I sure received the full HDMI cable with mine.
What’s the boot time look like on this monitor? I’m actually looking to replace my Ninja V because I never use the recording on it (I have a R5 C) and the Ninja V takes an irritating amount of time to turn on (like, it’s a dealbreaker, but nobody had figures on boot up times when I bought it).
thanks for review here 👍 like that you can power it via USBC, hope to see more things in the industry include the PD as standard. the '1200 nits' enough in direct sunlight? or sunshade pretty much mandatory? don't love having to rely on hood when its more than just myself reviewing capture. have learned that 'nit ratings' are not always created equally, and noticed you didn't do an outdoor test.
Question, on a Canon M50 I want to use this on a 3 way adjustable tripod for real estate photography. It shows all the setting just like the 3" screen does. BUT the leveling indicators so i can level the camera while looking at the monitor. Any ideas?
Hello! We really liked your review! I just bought it and my preview on the screen is stuck in an 4:3 ratio, any idea to make it cover the full screen? Thanks!
Hi Josh, so I have a question for clarity as I have seen another video where a guy says that if shooting in 4k 60p the monitor won't work. I shoot on a Sony camera, often in 4k 60p. Does this monitor support that? I know you said you even shot at 4k 120 but on Amazon says the input is limited to 4k 30p. There is a lot of confusing information about this item out there
So update, I purchased this monitor myself and I am pretty happy with it. In terms with colour accuracy, the panel is actually fairly accurate, at least on my copy, if i send the picture from my lumix camera with the lut preview in camera over HDMI they match up fairly well, close enough for monitoring purposes. However, the best practice is to have the monitor apply its own lut so the waveform, false colour, etc is drawing from the log exposure information, not the rec709 monitoring lut. My copy seems to read LUTs wrong and was terribly inaccurate, I eventually found the VLOG lut for the RAW gamut matches very well with the base REC709 monitoring lut on my S5iiX so it hasn’t been an issue for me, but I cant speak for other cameras and their luts. After playing around for a long time and noticing that matching to the camera in a standard profile with no lut applied gave me very accurate results to the camera, it tells me the screen itself is accurate and fine, its just how its reading and applying the lut information on top of the log footage, at least for LUMIX, I can’t speak to any other log format. Just for context I regularly use a Atomos Shinobi for my full-time job, so I know what a colour accurate screen looks like :)
Bro, i just got mine and they included HDMI to HDMI cable in it.. But there is on slight problem, the monitor doesnt accept 4k input on my FX3 when im in S log 3/Cinetone mode, only max out at 1080p 50 for input. I still can shoot an at 4K 120 when i set the setting to auto, but the monitor still says that HDMI is 1080p instead, where i saw a lot fo youtuber inputs are 4k30fps.. do you think there is a sollution for my this problem? i even check on the website on update but it says none..
@valentinsantander2158 For budget, yes, i recommended this monitor as it works wonders for budget price. All accessories like sunhood, battery, hdmi cable, monitor holder are included. I mainly use this monitor for false colour and focusing as i am a run and gun wedding videographer. But you just need to buy extra hdmi cable that suits your need and extra battery for the monitor, i recommended just buy 770 battery is good enough, can last whole day. As weight contribution is important to me, 770 weight is just fine. That is only base on my personal experience. Hope it helps. But if budget is not problem for you, Portkey HS7T monitor is the best investment you should look for..
On my camera (A7 IV) the entire monitor is not supported by the Viltrox monitor and I have a black border on the sides. Does anyone know how I can change this?
But I can't see all the parameters that the camera monitor does show me, the autofocus square, the remaining camera battery, and all the other parameters... If I have to be looking at one monitor and another, I don't think that's a good thing.
What are your thoughts on this monitor?
How is it compared to the Osee Lilmon 5?
Just purchased this monitor and looking forward to using it!

Considering this monitor. Any idea if 5.7K 60fps output from GH6 will work with this monitor?
So we’re gonna need a full hdmi to a mini hdmi adapter correct?

How long does it take to tire on?
Can you use the touch screen to select focus points?
this monitor allows recording?
what's the power on time like?
Which would you recommend , the Viltrox 550 or the pro?
The pro version! It’s touch screen
@@JoshHanes okay !! Got it thanks
is this like viltrox DC-V1 HD 5.5 inch black or white
I love it 😻😻
It is possible to review the photos taken from the camera on the monitor
Hello! We really liked your review! I just bought it and my preview on the screen is stuck in an 4:3 ratio, any idea to make it cover the full screen? Thanks!
Same here
what scopes it features? False color? battery life?
Yes there is false color in it. Vector scope, waveform, parade, etc.
Can you use it in photo mode?
Can you load luts on this?
Yes. There is an SD card slot for loading LUTS

It did for me. I used an fx3 at 4k 60 over hdmi no problem. Maybe they did an update after his video?
@@JoshHanes thank you for your time and your video!
Colour accuracy how much
Yeah that’s what I would like to know
Seems pretty accurate
Super poor😂

Its a buy
It doesn't record yet the battery is white. What is wrong with these people?
This not a recording monitor. One that does will cost you 4 times more
Can you load LUTs?
