    5:05 - 5:09 There is a step or two missing. You show one gear removed, then the access plate, then are re-insertng the bearing? Great job, but the missing steps are pretty crucial to the process...

      Totally agree, everything looks great but would like to see how you remove the worm gear and bearing too .

      I just rebuilt the saw of a friend and used this video. You use a blunt punch 1/4 in diameter and tap softly from either side of the housing. You will have space to slide the punch in due to the worm gear dropping down with no armature shaft sliding through it.

    This was great!!! Just got a saw that seemed to be really low on gear oil. Not sure how long it ran this way but i may need to replace the worm gear and this was super easy to follow and a nice DIY. Thanks for this video.

    I worked for Skil power tools for 20 years and this not the correct disassembly or reassembly to repair this tool . Some models have a spacer between worm gear and bearing.

      I just bought a really old Skilsaw worm drive and used it once and it was overheating. I checked the oil and it was bone dry. Will putting oil in it stop the overheating, or will I have to take it apart?

    • @barkingspider4861
      @barkingspider4861 3 года назад

      @@jamesfagan5694 , The lack of oil will cause overheating . When a tool has been run without lubricant gears and bearings wear causing friction. Oil leakage from seals will also clog up fan exhaust ports also causing overheating. If the motor is working fine , no arcing of brushes and running free , you could try refilling with correct oil . Getting parts for those old saws are almost impossible to get. Bearings and seals may be gotten at bearing supply houses.

      How to get shaft out of a circa 1991 3150? No c clips left, no screws, pressed in but might kill something knocking it apart.

    What causes the saw to make noise during slow down ? I just brought one mag77wm22 and out of the box no oil waited a week for it to get to me added proper amount, go to use and then the noise as it slowed from a cut or free spin . so i returned it got another and same thing is this normal operation or am i just lousy at grabbing a good box from the shelf
