Thirty plus years later, she remains untouchable. There hasn't been and, more than very likely, will never be another with this abundance of real ability. So so grateful to be able to rewatch what only you are able to do - beyond words, your peerless skating....
That was beautiful. And yes it's true, we'll never see this natural talent and ability again in ladies figure skating - Harding and Ito forever. These two were special and gifted in ways that can't be explained.
Thanks for uploading these vids. I was a big Harding fan. I was so disappointed in her for the choices she made, but they didn't take away from her tremendous talent and guts. This program was more difficult and meritorious than Kerrigan's on the jumps but less elegant with respect to choreography, spirals and such. Still, with a clean short program, I think she would probably have merited the bronze for this.
A great program of Tonya's - had she skated it as she had previously she would've had a better result at 92 Olympics. A shame she didn't have a better skate because if she did (even without Triple Axel), I think Gold could've been hers - or at least have been on the podium. Too bad - she wonderful when she was on . . .a joy to watch . . .mesmerizing!
Someone should have told her this was the competition. She merely looks like she's doing a run through of the program compared to the way she attacked it at Skate America when she unveiled this program. She's expressionless here and skated as though she took a Xanax before the competition. Perhaps it was the jet lag. Another three days to adjust would have really helped. This was still a decent performance and should have been enough for bronze, in my opinion. She just didn't bring it for this competition.
I've never understood why Scott Hamilton was so overly negative about this performance. It was far from a disaster, and everyone fell on that particular night.
True . . . no one (not even Kristi) skated perfectly. Had Tonya not been going through a decline at this time I think she could have . . . at her best showing . . .beaten them all.
Tonya was better than Nancy but was so run down she couldn't bring it when it mattered. They should have sent her to 1993 worlds. Nancy didn't have what it took to be a world & Olympic champion.
When Tonya did this at Skate America . . . just a few months prior in 1991 the routine was fantastic. You can't duplicate performances each time. It just wasn't her night, but she she was a good skater and her presentation was actually quite good when she was on.

Tonya Harding has more courage than your average skater!
Isn't that the truth!!!

Her spins were perfect

If she had only landed it

Nancy Kerrigan could never be Tonya Harding on a fair scorecard... Nancy Kerrigan is boring!
The judges are bias to give it a low score... are Judges allowed to commingle amongst the other judges!!!

Watching Tonya's routine I can see she is not gold medal material. The choreography was too raw no polish. Skating is about more than jumping.

Nancy Kerrigan posed and smiled. Perhaps that's more your style.
