Thank u so much ! Please pray for me. I have been praying about this beautiful vocation for a few years now. Can we chat privately sometime? ! Please know you are In my prayers. God bless!
Yes, absolutely helpful. When the new printing of the Breviary is published, I'll be getting the 4 volume set. I can handle it due to your encouragement.
Thank you so much!! I just joined the Church on Easter Vigil, and my first Breviary is arriving tomorrow. I am so very excited, but also overwhelmed! I hope I get the hang of it. Your video helped me so much
Excellent video. Yes, it was very helpful. My son bought me the LOTH 4 volume set for my birthday this week and I'm so excited to have these beautiful books. The St. Joseph's Guide is very helpful too. I need to get a case for my book so I can keep it nice :)
When you say 'breviary', do you mean the Divine Office? I have been given the Divine Office in 3 volumes and am desperately trying to work out how to use it. Your video is helpful.
Do Use the Christian Prayer Book. As a Isolate Carmelite, I really struggle with the Liturgy OfThe Hour's! i want to be good at it. Night Prayer, is My Favorite and I end with special Prayer's to Invoke Our Lady Of Mount Carmel.
Hi, Amanda! Is there a difference between a missal and a breviary? I’m returning to The Church after being away for about fifteen years, and I’ve never heard the word “breviary”. Thank you for the videos! You’re making my reversion easier.
Hi Amanda and/or others.... Can you tell me what the difference is between the daily missal and the Magnificat and the liturgy of the hours.? I have the Magnificat for this month because it was recommended but I am wondering if the prayers in it are the same as in the LOTH and/or the Daily Missal. I am also wondering what is the easiest way to follow in mass. In the Magnificat I put a tab in the order of mass and on the Sunday date and was ready to flip back and forth but still got lost. Would love to hear from folks. Thanks!
For three years back in the 1970's, when I was a Religious Brother, I never quite got a system down and would sometimes end up asking another Brother in a hushed tone, "Where are we?" At the end of my Novitiate, we started a "new and improved" breviary, which was new but seemed to be anything but improved. The original holy writers and even their translators may have been inspired, but the organizers of breviaries certainly seemed lacking in compassion and empathy LOL. If the Church has any interest in popularizing this sort of prayer, it needs to have a lot more consideration for the poor end-user.
This was SO helpful! I have used the app for a while and the Christian Prayer book, but now I have the four volume Large Print set. I love it, but I was struggling with marking and using the ribbons. You video made it come together!! Bless you!🙏😊
The breviary must be the same as our Horologion (Book of Hours). I don't have one of them although I have a Psalter which might be similar. I say "might be" because honestly it's so confusing I can't follow it. But, the latest prayer book I got does have the office of the hours for each day of the week. Your video encourages me to start incorporating those in daily prayer.
The breviary is also called the Divine Office or the Liturgy of the Hours and I believe it has the same roots as the Horologion and psalters which are based upon them. The Liturgy of the Hours is notoriously difficult to follow, especially in the four volume set. It can be very tricky to know where to flip to and when to do the page turning. Thanks for watching. God bless!
It is the Saint Joseph Guide for the Liturgy of the Hours which is published by Catholic Book Publishing Corp. every year: catholicbookpublishing.com/read/annual-items
Thanks for watching. I’m glad it was helpful. Just last Sunday I posted another video on the Liturgy of the Hours, if you’re interested: ruclips.net/video/ButoCVjVd9/видео.html God bless
I would love it if you would create videos on the prayers that we could pray on the net each day for the liturgy of the hours. I guess it is not easy. No one has done it. Would it be possible? The prayers aren't that long. I would love to be able to type in the day and get the prayers for that date.
I don't know of any video format like this, but SQPN (sqpn.com/) does do an audio podcast called Praystation Portable (sqpn.com/podcasts/) which is the Liturgy of the Hours for every day.
Hi, considering ordering the case you have in your video description for when I get a 4 volume set. I don’t really want to buy a set of 4 cases, so do you think that the largest case for one of the Ordinary Time volumes will work to secure, say, the Advent/Christmas volume?
I just have one case that i switch out depending on what book we’re in. Always go for one that fits the Lent/Easter book (the largest) and it works for all four
Hi! Do you have PDFs for the prayers you have in the back of your breviary? You said they came when you ordered it, but I found my copy at a thrift store, and I don’t quite know what to do with ut
I’ve prayed the 1962 Roman Breviary, the 1970 Liturgy of the Hours (English and the Latin version), the Little Office (pre-Vatican II), and the 1963 Monastic Diurnal. Honestly, the best for me is to pray the LotH throughout the day and pray Night Prayer (Compline) from the 1962 version. It is practical for the day and beautiful at night. You can get the traditional Compline from www.fraternitypublications.com
@@CatholicAmandaI am getting use to praying the 4 volume set after three months of practice, I'm a new Catholic so it's was overwhelming at first, the divine liturgy app was helpful to get use to how things are done, the app also gives you page numbers for the 4 volume set and the single Christian prayer..
Aquinas and More (aquinasandmore.com/) used to have a imported Polish made breviary cover. I got mine years and years ago. It does not look like it is available anymore.
My exact case is this one (bit.ly/2PdsnMK) from Aquinas and More. I bought one cover and put it on whichever volume I am currently in. I hope that is helpful.
Great video. I just got my LOTH set and wow, intimidating. Lol. I ordered knowing I would not get the guide. Mistake. But....I ordered and on its way. Thanks for the great video! I agree with another respondent that you should make a video actually reading and praying a certain day. I seen MY CATHOLIC HEARTBEAT made a comment as well. She has a great channel I subscribed to on here. Check it out. God Bless you Amanda, I will learn this! Lol
The Liturgy of the Hours is one form of prayer in the Church. Many people, even devout Catholics, actually know very, very little about it. Don’t worry.
I only use a one volume breviary so I don't do all the work you do. There is more of a blessing for you in praying the 4 volume set. I also have a 1962 Breviary, but I only used it briefly. I like it better, but its harder to use. Thanks for posting the video.
Do you mark your breviary differently than I do? Please share!
I hope this video was helpful. Please let me know if I can help in any other way.
Hey Amanda , where did u get Your case for your brerviary?
I have a link to the case in the video description. God bless!

Yes, absolutely helpful. When the new printing of the Breviary is published, I'll be getting the 4 volume set. I can handle it due to your encouragement.
Last year, I spent two weeks at an abbey in Missouri. I am clearly out of practice. Now I need to get my breviery out of its box and start praying.
Amanda, this is exactly what I was looking for - short and yet detailed.
Thank you so much!! I just joined the Church on Easter Vigil, and my first Breviary is arriving tomorrow. I am so very excited, but also overwhelmed! I hope I get the hang of it. Your video helped me so much
I’m sure you will learn it and have it figured out in time. It took me a few months to really get a hold on all of it.
God bless!

That is a wonderful idea! Thank you so much.

Do you veil? I do.
Yes! I have veiled for about 10 years. 🙏🏻
Lovely demo, than you. I am about to start and this is very helpful

A missal has the Mass parts and readings while a breviary has the Liturgy of the Hours

Perpetua and Felicity are the saints on the day I was born.
I just realised that in our islands, we pronounce it as /'brɛj-vʲɛ-rɪ/.
It is intetestinɡ that in other places, it is pronounced /'bri:-vʲɛ-rɪ/.
😻
What about the 1 Volume Breviary? That's what I have. I do have the St. Joseph Guide for that volume.
I do not use a one volume breviary (Christian Prayer). Most of this should still apply to that volume. I'm sorry I cannot be of more help.

Are the Breavry good for ever or do you babe to buy each year?
Breviary are perpetual. I’ve had my copy for years.

Liturgy of the Hours can be massively overwhelming sometimes. God bless, Montague.
I wish I knew what all that meant..there's a lot of terminology, they need to do a LOH for dummies
I’m working on getting a LOTH for beginners video. I’m trying to make sure I explain everything enough which is taking awhile.
I'm such a bad Catholic I don't even know what what any of that means. Good heavens! :(
