I feel like this is something that pre meds don’t think about enough! My parents are both in medicine and my dad is a doctor so for me I kinda already know what I will be getting myself into! But even then, no one actually gives actual numbers of how much it will cost! Thank you for this! Also the apps for med school is ridiculously expensive, and no one wants to talk or think about it! This is a great, informative video!
This is so wonderful! Tbh, more YTbers from the medical community need to create these videos. The transparency is so appreciated. ❤️Having these conversations are not only important, but I believe they are essential to drawing attention on how expensive and costly it is to be a medical student in the US!
It is SO expensive and a little uncomfy to talk about the financial burden that medical students face, but I think it's important! I'm glad you liked it :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. Very few medical school students on RUclips are THIS transparent. They just talk about their pre-med journey and just go straight to their life in medical school. They leave this part out. Veryyyyy helpful. I hope that your channel flourishes and more money comes your way. 💙🤓
Making my budget/determining how much I'm going to take out on loans right now and this was a great video haha. You must cook a lot haha I'm jealous you only spend $200 monthly on food!! Might make a loan/budget video after see this, thanks for the inspiration.
Hey there! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! I didn't apply for loans until after I was accepted to medical school and had received my financial aid package! My school gave me my financial aid offer and then from there I decided how much help I needed in loans and applied then. I don't remember exactly when I applied but it was definitely late springtime my senior year/the summer before I started medical school.
I’ve always wondered what happens to undergrad loans in medical school. Do you pay that off before medical school? Do u pay it during med school? Are they deferred? Added to med school loans?
Really good video! Keep posting!✌🏻I would like to see your grocery haul or things which you buy through the month for yourself ( cosmetics, clothes, etc). 😘
Thank you for making this video, I find it very interesting to see what life looks like besides the books and finance is a huge part of that! I look forward to seeing how your budget pans out - and I would be interested in a grocery haul :)
It was definitely a little uncomfy making it, but I SO wish something like this existed when I was applying for loans (or trying to figure out what my budget SHOULD look like). Hopefully it all works out for the best and I can have a healthy amount of wiggle room :). Grocery haul loading!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I never knew how med school financing worked. This is a great start! Any additional resources you've discovered regarding this?
Thanks for this video! I watch Dave Ramsey too but no one really talks about how his advice is not applicable to med school students. Subscribed! Hope you get monetized soon :)
I WISH I could follow his advice, it just isn't reasonable for this stage of life 😂 I did finally get monetized! It's slowwwww passive income but it's cool to see it grow. Hope you are well!
Unfortunately bub went home to Kansas a few weeks in because I felt bad that he was cooped up all day! It's definitely possible to have a dog in med school, but maybe not a teething puppy 😂
It will never stop to amaze me how the USA does not provide a free/cheaper college education as it is usual for western countries. Sometimes I wonder if the government does not want their citizens to be educated. Those amounts are just crazy to imagine...
Girl, drop that Google spreadsheet so I can try to budget for school and what apartment to pick for the fall :'( Just got my aid award and so stressed.
hahahah I REGRET being this frugal honestly -- I think I underestimated just how rough med school is (everyone TOLD ME it would be this way but I thought I would be ~different~). Would definitely recommend taking out enough to be comfy but not exorbitant hahah I will see if I can get an updated video out soon :). CONGRATS ON YOUR ACCEPTANCE!!
Thank you for your honesty and transparency. I will be making the transition from the working world into medical school and trying to plan ahead. I have already started investing in stocks and cryptocurrency as passive income. Ideally, I would let the money accrue as I am studying.
Many premeds need to see this. Great video - wish I saw something like this in freshman year.
As a pre-med I WISH I saw this video -- there is so much more to medical school than just going to school 😂

That is so sweet

Can you please do a video on the pros and cons of living alone in med school, and what you recommend!
This is very helpful! I was wondering when do we start to apply for the loan. when we get accepted to the med school or your senior year of pre-med?

Such a great video!! Love this transparency.

starting med school in the fall and I cannot express how incredibly helpful this video was. thank you so much!
It was a mess to figure out on my own so I hope it helped :) Congrats on medical school!
@@drbonfire thank you!! love all your videos!!

Staring med school in August- thanks so much for this video it was great!
Congrats!! You’re welcome it was so confusing when I was trying to figure it out!
Can you make an updated vid of how your financial plan is going plz? 🙂
Of course! It is recorded I will get to editing it ASAP hahaha it's definitely changed a bit since the beginning!
You should do some research to find tips on growing subscribers. Your content for premed is great! -mom to a premed
Went to Vandy for undergrad, starting med school next year (in another state)! Would love to see a video about having a dog in medical school!
Unfortunately bub went home to Kansas a few weeks in because I felt bad that he was cooped up all day! It's definitely possible to have a dog in med school, but maybe not a teething puppy 😂
@@drbonfire that totally makes sense! My pup will be almost 3 by the time I'm an M1 so (hopefully!) she'll be a little more chill lol
Was just wondering if something like this existed when I accepted my loans a few days ago for first year 🥴
That is the perfect face to describe my feelings about my loans 😂😬

I could never tbh...
Not me watching this after interviewing with an MD/PhD program where everything is covered, and I pay with my age years instead
How much is your tuition per year if you don’t mind saying? I’m currently very interested in Vanderbilt
It's about $60,000 per year, I think! Probably a few dollars and cents added to that, but around 60K.
@@drbonfire thank you so much!

anyone going into medical school in 2022 is a brave soul because you gonna easily be 300k+ in the hole unless yo parents rich
hahaha amen yes I unfortunately am in the 300k+ hole camp 😩
