I actually remember "Phase 4" of Nixon's wage & price controls, particularly on cuts of beef, which resulted in a beef "shortage" until butchers came out with new cuts to get around the price controls on a grey market.

Is the "Phase Four" John Denver mentions at 115 referring to the *movie* _Phase IV_? It _did_ come out the same year as this episode of _McCloud_, 1974. If so, that would make a complete MST3k referential circuit, between them actually riffing that movie (it's a KTMA episode) and Crow & Servo saying "Chief?" "MCCLOUD!" in Pod People.
