THIS STORY:
In March of 1989, University of Texas at Austin student Mark James Kilroy was kidnapped in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico while vacationing during spring break. He was taken by his abductors to a ranch where he was tortured, and worse - for hours, before being murdered in a human sacrifice ritual.
Adolfo Constanzo, the leader of the cult, told his followers that human sacrifice granted them immunity from law enforcement for their drug smuggling operations. The killing drew worldwide media attention and initiated an international police manhunt because of the unusual circumstances of the crime.

I remember when Mark Kilroy went missing and when it was found out what happened. I was so young and it was one of the things that made me understand the world was not a safe place.
This is a truly horrific story. I can't even begin to imagine that kind of level of evil people are capable of. My heart goes out to Mark and his whole family. Thank you for your compassion in telling his story, Ron. R.I.P. Mark.
I watched a movie based on Mark Kilroy called Borderland. I was traumatized for weeks. Thank you Ron for telling his story. RIP Mark, gone but not forgotten.
this is the worst! I can see why...although I have not seen the movie, will probably skip it--like the Nutty Putty caver story in the Utah mountains that I did, cant watch that movie!
I watched that movie too…the evil that was depicted made me sick, but I finished it out of respect for the victims 😢

Ik it's traumatic but bcuz it's a true story I feel that I owe it to Mark to give acknowledgment & witness what he suffered through. I pray he rests peacefully. Including his family needing peace & closure. Ik if it were my child this happened to, I would be in emotional torment over it. My God help his mother & father to find peace.

Mark was born the day after my father passed away at the age of 44. I was 14. What a horrific story. I can't imagine the heartache of his family, first when he was missing, but then hearing the awful details of how he died. My kids never did spring break trips and I was very thankful. I would have been a nervous wreck the whole time they were gone.
Mark died the year my daughter was born.
I'm horrified by the actions and beliefs of these evil monsters. Thank you Ron for sharing his story. Condolences to his family and friends.
I remember watching a show about this young man. What they did to him was truly horrific. God rest his soul.
I feel so sorry for what this poor young man must have gone through, and that his family had to loose him this way. I know he is in the Arms of Angels now, and the perpetrators are most likely in a very different place!

I remember this case being on Oprah many years ago and just being struck with horror with the descriptions of what happened to this poor young man. His photo at 1:22 just totally shows a person with a lot to be thankful for but to give back to others. As always, well done, Ron! Your kindness never fails to move me 👍🏻
All I can say is that Mark is a bright shining star. I cannot imagine the horrors he went through. I pray for strength for his family who must be haunted by the thought and manner of his death. At least the perpetrator is burning in hell now, and I hope his girlfriend and the other members of this beastly cult are in a living hell for the rest of their miserable lives. Thank you Ron for telling his story. What a loss to everyone, what promise he had for his future, forever lost.
I have three sons and I know if any one of them went through what this young man did I would go crazy, my mind would just snap. I remember when this happened and watched a documentary about what they did and I cried the whole way through. My heart goes out to Marks parents and family no parent should have to go through that and especially hear how he died. Mark did not deserve that and thank goodness he is at peace with the Lord. Safe in the arms of angels. 🙏🌹
Such Evil..We never allowed our kids to go off on Spring Break to places on their own. As adults now they can do as they please but they are advised of the dangers.
I remember this case so well. It was evil evil evil. I didn't even want to visit Matamoros, I was so scared, and even now with so much crime in Mexico, I have not been there for 5 years. I've had friends and cousins kidnapped by evil people taking their organs out, and God knows what they do with the organs. RIP Mark. Just a horrible crime.

I was at UT Austin when this happened. We were all so freaked out when he disappeared.
There was just four people kidnapped in the same town in Mexico and I thought of this story immediately.

That was the scariest video to watch,to know there is that kind of evil out there is terrifying. I cannot imagine his pain & fear.And I cannot imagine how his parents felt,knowing what happened to their son.Condolences to the family.

I remember this. I went one year to South Padre for spring break. One of my friends told us that her dad was a truck driver, and he had warned her about Matamoros. I’m glad we listened.

A shocking story Ron! This poor young guy, omg. I can't imagine how the family dealt with his murder, knowing what he suffered. You told the story well and with respect Ron. Hearing the news today about the missing people was so jarring, after watching this!
I have heard this horrific story before, but you told it with much more detail. I can't imagine what they put this young man through in the last moments of his life, just horrific.

My granddaughter was 17 and went to Mexico on spring break.The trip was a gift. She went with another friend her age and the other girls mom. I was so scared for them. I know this doesn't happen all the time, but you never know when or who it could happen to. They made it back safe and had a great time, but I hope she doesn't go back again.

Level 4 Do not travel to Mexico, order from the state department after the kidnapping. They only went there for medication. Too expensive here….😥

I went to Algodones for shopping. Got followed down alleys stalked. Ended up going to border patrol office so scared. Never will go again. Horrible place. Smelled like burning dog hair. Begging children old ladies. Sad. Not even cheap either. No refrigeration in meat shops. Awful. Like a trip to HELL. Hot as hell too.

Mark truly is one of God's special angels. He has a beautiful set of wings to acknowledge the pain he went through and the special love God has for him.

I remember this story oh so clear. As a 9yr old grl. I was taken to this Santa Elena Ranch. A few weeks after all the investigation. It was the most horrific thing. The smell is undesirable.the smoke was still coming out of the ground there was wholes in the ground where Graves once were. Wire sticking out of the ground wire hangers mangled to create what looked like a noose.. to this day as 42yr old woman I randomly have nightmares of this place. I lways wondered where he was buried.

I remember reading about this case in Rollingstone when RS was a good mag way back in the day. I would say, it's one of the first horrific stories that sparked my interest in true crime. Hi Ron, thanks for making this video. I remember when this happened, I graduated from high school in 1985 and I just to go to South Padre and also across the border in Matamoros Mexico several times and yes, I just to think nothing could happened to me because there were so many people having fun, but believe me when I tell you that after this happened I never went back to either South Padre nor Matamoros, that's how much this horrible tragedy affected me and some of my closest friends. Btw, 4 Americans just got kidnapped a few days ago also in Matamoros, the scary part is it happened in broad daylight. Still praying for them.🙏

I read the book about this when I was almost 15 years old. I have had nightmares monthly ever since then, that was over 30 years ago. The hangers being wrapped around the spinal cords and amounts they found really mess me up.

My husband is from 1968, I'm from '69. We lived already a full live, had 5 beautiful kids who are now all adults with their own families & children...all experiences Marc never had. May his family found at least some peace and closure and I hope the monsters rot in jail for his horrific torture and senseless murder. RIP buddy. All young people think they are invincable and death is far, far away...may this be a warning for all, death is right behind rhe corner and it can happen to you.
Oh my gosh I remember this, it was horrible. I worked at a School District for over 43 years. We had Teachers and students who go to Mexico 🇲🇽 and had some pretty scary stories to tell us.

This makes me sick. I remember when this happened. We use to go to south padre frequently and we would sometimes go to Matamorus it’s a very scary place and you have to be very careful. We haven’t been there in decades I can imagine it’s worse now

One of my buddies back in the 70s was riding his Harley in Mexico…. Pulled over by the police and tossed in jail
And taken away and held for ransom …. His family had no money…approximately a year of trying they let him go he got back home somehow ….. he worked at the Harley dealership in Killeen texas

I remember seeing the uncut exhumation of the bodies on VHS "World of Death" back in the mid '90's. Also the inerrogation by Mexican police on the cult followers due to this case. Very brutal!

My Lord that poor baby he'd be 54 yrs. Old they took his entire life his poor family having to receive him in such conditions my heart aches for him and his loved ones . This was the most horrible story. That was thoroughly disgusting and horrifying. I remember watching Breaking Bad and could not fathom the cruelty of the Mexican drug dealers. Absolutely no regard to human life. I was there in Mexico a week earlier for Spring Break! It scared me! I was with my sorority and a large group of fraternity guys, but it could have happened to us also.
