      Came here to say almost exactly this... a .375 H&H is a Hammer...an accurate .22 is a Tack-driver.
      Getting visions of The Mystery Men's Sphinx here...( If you can balance a Tack-hammer on your head, you will head-off your opponent with a balanced attack. lol) Sorry.

    I’ve heard Hammer, nail driver, knot knocker, pin driver, head popper but tack driver is the most common.

    In all my years around guns I have never heard someone say my rifle is a hammer. I have however heard the term my rifle is a tack driver

    I think y’all mean “tack driver” in this case because a “hammer” is heavy hitting and a 22 is not a “heavy” hitter

    Teco nails (used for attaching sheet metal joist hangers, hurricane clips, etc) would be a much better nail choice for this, they are short, thick, and have very thick and heavy heads that wouldn't bend or warp as much as a lot of other nails would.

    I've only ever heard of large caliber high velocity cartridges like a 300 PRC being referenced as hammers. Hence they hit hard. 😊

    When we did this years ago, we used roofing nails. Shorter length and larger head.

    Unrelated to the video, I’m interested to know if you adjust your zero at the zero time on the morning of a match or do you just leave your zero setting and make mental note of the shift?

    $10k to hit a nail head at 20yards? They saw YOU coming. If you’re not hitting nail heads at 100 yards with your $200 CZ, then no amount of money you throw at a rifle is going to help you.

    I suppose the next experiment will be if a rifle can be used as a tack driver. Anyone can hit the globe that is the head of a nail...but can you tap in a tack!

    Do it again but this time pre drill the hole in the wood to where the nail has just enough tension to not go all the way through. That way if you do have a soft spot in the wood it would be more fare kind of

      308 at 200 yards. As far as my local range goes out too
      To bad my eyes are starting to go. I'd be lucky to do it at 50 nowadays.

    The most accurate firearm I’ve ever shot was a .20 vartarg? Some spelling like that absolutely amazing rifle and cartridge just good for varmints and small game though
    My favorite hunting rifle is still my model 700 in .264 win mag
    Both of the firearms I refrenced are insanely accurate
    The vartarg is a tack driver and I guess the .264 would qualify as a hammer

    My 22 is cheaper than your actual hammer. I paid 200 bucks for a Brno no5 that has just turned 50 years old and still shoots .2 off an inch at 50yrd.
