Yarde has the weirdest opponent selection ever...he either takes on elite competition or mismatches, no in between.
It's a smart career strategy to regain momentum and confidence after taking a bad KO loss which he did vs Kovalev and Beterbiev.

Yarde was hit by every single punch kovalev threw, he has absolute no defense and no one answer against a solid jab. He only walk forward being hit and move his hands. Yes he is physically strong, has solid power and a good chin (that I doubt would continue to be good if he continues to take that kind of punishment) but zero boxing skills. The fact that he couldn't finish a washed up kovalev with 2 minutes remaining of the 8th round after kovalev was in surviving mode, is another proven of his poor skills

The sad truth is this could be said of almost any bout in his career from the past 5 years. Not knocking him as he’s exciting to watch but he’s been put in with stiffs to build his resume.
The over under on this fight was 1.5 rounds!
He’s still improved though, it’s definitely obvious. The problem is there’s such a gulf between Beterbiev/Bivol and everyone else in that division.

The only reason a fighter goes from fighting a champion to a part-timer is ring rust. So, why on earth has he gone from Beterbiev to Peewee Herman? This is plain bad management. He needs to think for himself and continue with the big fights. That's the only way he's going to improve from the level he's at right now, which is on the cusp and makes it all the more crucial for his career
Yeah this was pretty drastic literally top of the division to the very bottom. Hopefully light heavy gets a few more young challengers come up soon.
@kyleconnor2759 I think the boards need to implement mandatories for all ranked fighters in chronological order, not just for belt holders, until the last man standing is in the position to fight the champion, then the next in line and so on and so forth, otherwise the paying fans are just continuously getting mugged off and the sport is gradually becoming more tarnished

I like Anthony Yarde because his a talented fighter, looks the part, has the flashy movies but I don't know, every time he steps up to quality opposition's at world championship level he gets beat up or knocked out 🤔. This guy was billed as the next big thing in the light heavyweight division but has honestly failed to meet the hype.

The best opponent Yarde has beaten is IBO Light-heavyweight champ Lyndon Arthur....who's also beaten him too. Buatsi has beaten Craig Richards...who I believe is better than Lyndon Arthur hands down.

To be fair, Nikolic would easily beat up 99.9% of boxing RUclips or boxing Twitter commentators and trolls. That second round body shot hurt me and I'm all the way in NYC. Imagine what different kind of a beast Beterbiev is to take that and keep coming forward.

We need to see yarde fight someone in his level, either fights bin men or elite fighters there never any in between! We need to see a war, neck and neck 50/50 fight. Buatsi would be a great fight for them both, but I think if they fight it should have a world title involved.
Yarde is great but to take his skills to the next level could he use an addition to his training camp. Like a Freddy Roach or a Sugarhill Steward or a Brian 'BoMac' McIntyre. Tunde is good but would Yarde benefit from a(nother) world class trainer to gain something different?
I always liked Yarde. I wanna see Ben Whitaker humbled. Would love to see Yarde do it.
