Fun fact: Barbra fought the studio over the music in this movie, A Star is Born. The studio wanted Barbra to prerecord all the music and have her lipsynch during filming. Barbra insisted she wanted to sing the music LIVE on set. She won.

Barbra Streisand composed the music for the theme song for this movie and Paul Williams composed the lyrics which won them both an Academy Award. The song is called "Evergreen" and is definitely worth a listen. Thank you to the person who requested this and I hope you will dive into the Incomparable Barbra's catalog. I've been a fan since the 60's!

Barbra sang live in A Star Is Born she has said she's really bad at lip syncing so she sang live on this film, no lip syncing. She has to be in the moment you can see that with all the emotions she shows can't do that with pre-recorded song. 😊🎉
She's singing to her dead husband, John Norman, who commits suicide in the movie. Always makes me cry. The second part of the song is her singing one of John Norman's songs. This is one of the finest songs in movies

The actual title of the song is "With one more look at you / Watch closely now". As some have said it before, the song takes another level when you have watched the movie as it is the emotional end climax. Her character is singing for a late husband who was a famous singer, and she is singing one of his song : "Watch closely now".
I highly recommend you to react to her song "A piece of sky" from another of her movie, "Yentl". The last note is legendary !

Saw this at the theater with my bride to be back in 76. Much better movie then I expected. This scene is the final scene of the movie.
I was twelve when my sister and cousin took me to see this. I had no idea who she was or anything about the movie but I remember not believing how she could sing and I still can’t. She was singing to her late husband John Norman Howard. Watch it it’s a great movie and the music is really good!! All of it!!
This was literally the last scene of the movie A Star is Born, and the first song was already featured in the movie. If memory serves, the second was written after he passed away.
The first song was taken from a tape recording that John Norman made before his fatal accident. Her discovery of the recording just days after his funeral is torturous. She was still in the early stages of grief: denial and rage. She wonderfully transitions to Watch Closely Now to pick up his baton and carry on. It is incredibly moving picture and been impacting me from the age of 7. My favorite version of this storyline. ❤❤❤

Barbra fought the studio tooth & nail to let her sing 80% of her songs LIVE on set. So, in the film all her live performances were done LIVE. And it was the first film to me mixed in 6-Track Dolby Stereo for a theatrical release. Fun Fact, Barbra wanted Elvis to play her husband in the film but his manager Col Tom Parker demanded too much...so they went with Kris Kristofferson.
I saw this movie in Pittsburgh Pa. for my 10th birthday in 1976. I also had the album and memorized every song! Sad ending to the movie!

This was the best movie! 'A star is born', starring Barbra & Kris Kristofferson. Lady Gaga did an updated version & it was also good, but no comparison to this version, even if parts seem outdated. Think of it as a musical history lesson of the times. LOL This was kinda the final song when she was performing for the first time since Kris died in the movie & she merges her song with his hit song. Highly recommend the movie.

In 1937 RKO Studios who had produced "What Price Hollywood?" threatened suit against Selznick International Pictures for plagiarism after it released the first "A Star Is Born", ultimately dropping the suit as Selznick was better situated financially to fight them. George Cukor directed "What Price..." and was asked to direct the first "A Star..." in 1937 but declined since he felt the movies were too similar. He did, however, agree to direct the 1954 version.

From the last scene of "A Star is Born", there were so many great songs in this movie, this was my favorite. It's considered one of the best performances, I remember going out and buy the 8 track tape after I saw the movie. You should definitely react to the movie to understand the ending.

This is the finale of " A Star is Born!" Her Husband has just died in a car crash. He was very troubled and it wasn't specified whether it was suicide or a plain accident and this is her performance right that happened. Her husband was a singer too and bother songs were his I believe. Barbara is one of the greatest of all time. Please react to "Evergreen". Her man (in all versions of A Star Is Born) just didn't die, he commited suicide. The film with Janet Gaynor and the one with Judy Garland, the men drowned themselves. In the film with Barbra the man drives himself to death and the version with Lady Gaga, the man hangs himself. All has the plot that the men are famous singers or actors. All has the female as Vicky Lester to want to be a famous singer/actress and is dicovered by the male lead. He helps her getting there, they fall in love and get married, but in the process the men are all heavy drinkers and are alcoholics. Vicky Lester is willing to give up her career to help her husband, to take care of him, because he doesn't seem to get better. He overhears her talking and promises her that he will do better, but in the meantime, he knows that he he can't and doesn't want to be the one why her career stops and doesn't want to be a burden on her anymore and therefore takes his own life.
