yep they r! i was on their concert september 2012 here in Finland, and it was their first time in Finland and that was my first concert EVER i´ve ever been and i was in the front row watching them and they were absolutely good live!
Doesn't matter if he's playing chords or not, He's not strumming the chords, He's still playing lead guitar in this song, I honestly do not believe for one second that you are a guitarist of 30 years
I noticed that the kid took his hand off for a second as well and had to do a double take. Chad is also playing it and his Blackwater guitar has a mode that replicates the sound of an acoustic I remember reading about a couple years ago it was one of the things he wanted so he didn't have to switch guitars as much to just change on the fly sort of deal.
@Upcoming Chris: Ateamcaptain is right for Burn it to the ground chorus. Chad always uses a pre-recorded track for the chorus of that song. There are only a few performance where he doesn't, like in the NHL awards, and you can clearly hear that it's very hard for him. However, Ateamcaptain, you're not right for that song. They are three to play the same riff, so even if there is one who pull his hand off his guitar for one second, the sound will still sounds full... I doubt that they wouldn't play live.. What would be the point in playing shows and to have playback ... They are very good musician, so I doubt they use playback, especially for such an easy song.
How are they faking it?, You can hear Chad go out of key every now and again, also what was the comment that started this off that doesn't seem to exist now?, I'm a guitarist of 10 years and am Intrigued
Well mr 30 year guitar man, If you actually knew anything about guitars you'd actually know there's many means to get Acoustic tones using an Electric guitar, Which Chad has done numerous times, Also you can see it's him because you can clearly see him Playing it
Nope, watch any video of Burn It To The Ground live. All the choruses are faked. There was one, ONE performance where it wasn't and it sounds weak and that was on last year's NHL awards. These guys have a dedicated Pro Tools guy that hits vocal parts, guitar parts, keyboard stuff from just offstage.
To an extent that's probably true, But even listening to Acoustic's that they've done, you can see how good they are, Mainly this argument is about this video and the 'taking hand off the neck' thing which i still heavily disagree with and always will, Also you can hear Chad go flat a few times in this, and you can clearly tell he's singing live, And singing live and having the Guitars on a track?, Makes no sense, it should be the other way around if any
Nope, sorry, I have played guitar for a long time, the notes that were played at that moment do not correspond with what his fret hand was doing. They are doing what is called "playing with tracks" which means certain parts are faked. Along with this, a lot of the high notes Kroeger sings are on tracks as well, Burn It To The Ground a is a classic example of fakery at it's finest. Lip syncing rock bands; the end of the world is truly upon us lol!
Well, ask me ANYTHING guitar related and I will answer and I will quiz you these; why should a guitar string be tuned up into its pitch and not down to its pitch? What intervals are contained in a melodic minor scale? What is equal division of the octave? What is quartal harmony? Still don't believe me? Stick with your day job, you are no detective. These guys are faking it, plain and simple.
Yup, I insulted myself because you cannot plainly see/hear that the acoustic guitarist in this video takes his hand off the instrument while a fretted chord continues to sound. Whatever makes you happy there zippy.
It's likely not just a Piezo pick-up though, They're probably running through god knows how many pedals and what not, This is a pointless argument that is going nowhere, Hell, He's still picking when he takes his hands off, Maybe those few Notes are playable on open strings, I think you're way to fast to jump on the 'They're fakers!' Bandwagon
My point is 'lead' doesn't JUST mean solo, other wise there would be no point in the word Lead, I''ve already shown you numerous times the definition (From a dictionary also) of 'Lead Guitar', And you shouldn't need one as it's common sense, You obviously have too much of a thick skull to understand, Good bye
And you cannot tell the difference in sound between a piezo pickup on an acoustic vs. electric? Again, duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. You just want to argue but son, you have to have some knowledge to argue. Go back to the kids table with yer food boy.
These guys are amazing live!

I can, but what you're forgetting is there' not just one Guitarist on stage, there's 3, but CLEARLY I'm the one that cannot see / hear...

They are playing tracks underneath their instruments, the drummer is using a click to keep it all in time.
Lets on

@ateamcaptain
He could of been playing the top strings
Or one of the other guitarist could of been using an acoustic simulater pedal

Hey Einstein - you can strum a note, remove your hand and that note STILL PLAYS. . Get a life man, stop being a troll
digitalnickelback to Polak? D:
It's exactly the same thing as what you did to me, You you just insulted yourself, basically
And clearly your ear is so tinny you cannot distinguish between acoustic and electric guitar sounds. Duhhhhhhh.

I know Chad had nose surgery, so is that why he sounds different than he used to?
No that's not why. He just had throat surgery. Had nothing to do with his nose
Ryan looks so bored sometimes!
WHY JUST LADIES?!
That proves nothing, as it's Chad that is playing lead..

Mhmm, I'm the immature one, Alright
Pierwszy! :D
Clearly you are a fanboy since that term bothers you. FANBOY!
Duhhhhhhhhhhhhh. You are a fanboy, face it.
Sure thing there stalker.
Well fuck that, I'm out of here.
