This strat (or, well, a similar strat) can actually work, if the Allies are not fucked up in the head and can get to Denmark and keep their air and naval supremacy, stretching the Axis thin along the entire coast, with potential of landing just behind Axis lines and encircling them
if they had surrounded berlin instead of taking it, wouldn't they have cut supply lines for all the germans ?

You know, it's funny because I've seen similar strategies work wonders. Like when I was running Brazil in a Multiplayer and took Danmark. But well, that has the advantages of being highly defensible as a beach head when/if you take it. Unlike Danzig.
Golden takes everything good from a nation and then somehow disregards all of it.
I like it how the allies land their troops in Danzig which is closer to the Eastern front instead of Normandy which is farther away from the Eastern front.
No victory is beyond reach when Golden is on the other team.
Now Bo knows how is it to be in the Axis when an Iwo Jima-like game happens.

I remember once I was playing as the Australia and me and the US player invaded Japan. My plan was to hold the northern most port and build more ports throughout the northern island to reinforce our units. But before we could entrench a literal hoard of divisions attacked with everything they had. Half of our combined units were cut off and encircled. The other half were forced to retreat. I had seven divisions left of my original thirty. All of them infantry. I told my American buddy to fall back while I held the line. Again and again I attacked the Japanese divisions forcing them to halt their advance until the last of the Americans were safely away. Then I retreated leaving only one to division to hold the line. After the other six divisions were out I then called my single division, Six infantry and one arty at who was nearly out of supplies to fall back. The Japanese Army was chasing the division all the way for hundreds of miles. But I managed to get him out.
With those seven divisions and what the American player had we then turned our attention to the Chinese coast which was under the control of Japan. With the US's navy keeping the Japanese divisions trapped on the islands it was easy to rip through the occupation. When they tried to cross convoys were sunk left and right. Finally with China liberated I launched another invasion with my newly rebuilt army of twenty two divisions. I took the south while the US focused on the North. What started out as a failed invasion turned into a glorious pincer.
Then after Japan had fallen, Me and the US player turned to Europe where Brittan and France were struggling to hold Brittany. We launched an invasion of southern France and cut off the bulk of the German Army trying to take Brittany by cutting up towards Normandy. Pulled a reverse D-day that cost them around forty divisions. And with the main bulk of their army focused in the East pushing into Germany they had no divisions left to keep us occupied. A literal wave of American, Australian, French and British divisions cut through France and Germany to Frankfurt before we met any resistance. The German player was deep in Russia during winter so he couldn't pull back in time. By then it was too late, With the pressure eased off of the Soviet Union the eastern lines dissolved and it was only a delaying action.
By a strange turn of events Italy was the last Axis county to fall. And even then it only fell because we nuked every city multiple times.
