    Hi Bobby, I just got my Cam-do solar x and will be shooting a construction site 24/7 for 14 days. The site is outside in a rural location and will have its own lighting at night, the camera location is about 150 feet away from construction, so do you have a suggestion for Hero 6 settings to use during the timelapse. I am thinking of 4 minute interval, max 800 iso, and 4000K. What do you think?

    • @BobbyInBlue
      @BobbyInBlue  5 лет назад

      Hello, Thank you for your comment. Each project is unique and it will depend on the lighting of the place that you are shooting. I have messed with the settings before and had some great results I have also had times where having it set to a specific setting instead of auto messed up the time-lapse. I am always a big fan of more frames so I would shot as many frames as you can for the memory card that you have. You can always remove frames if needed. I would recommend doing a test of what the best settings are throughout the day, and one at night for that location. The auto setting on the go pro for day to night isn't awful. Best of luck on your shoot! Send me a link when you get done! I want to see.

    Hi I see i'm 4 years late to the party. I really like this turnkey options although a little pricey, but I'm looking into starting a time-lapse service for construction projects in my area and after researching I ran into this video. Just wanted to know 1. if practical to start with 1 unit until I can afford others. 2. what your pitch to companies, I know your established, but starting with no previous videos? 3. How do you charge for this type of service? Thanks in advance

    • @BobbyInBlue
      @BobbyInBlue  2 месяца назад

      Yes it is a great system. Yes of course you can start with one. That’s what I did.
      I made a sample video of Timelapse’s with just my go pro without the kit. It was a shorter term Timelapse. Then I used that to pitch companies.
      Timelapse is a unique way to show off progress and companies that build or make things love to show off their process.
      It depends on the project. I usually break it down for the amount of hours it will take me and then I add some to pay for the use of the equipment. It took sometime to fine tune pricing but I generally price it in a similar way to other video work.
      It is an area that is more unique but it has really helped me in my business.
      Best of luck, thanks for watching.

    Wow amazing video! How did you set up the camera and did it overheat at any point? I have to shoot a 30 days timelaps for a customer in 2.7k, 5minutes intervall with 3600 photos for a 4 minutes video. The storage for that are only 20GB, so is it possible to run the camera for 30 days, when using a cable to power it? Or does it shut down for overheating? Thank you for yout time! Regards, Lukas

    • @BobbyInBlue
      @BobbyInBlue  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much for watching the video and for the kind words.
      Nope I didn't have any trouble with the camera overheating. With this system the intervalometer tuns the camera off and then back on again. If you are using this system then you won't need to worry about it running continuously. The system will turn the camera on and take a photo and then back off until it is time to take the next one.
      I recently made a new video going over the Cam-do Solar Timelapse Kit. I am working on part 2 and 3 for it right now. It goes over the system in a lot more depth on how to set it up. Part 2 and Part 3 are coming soon and they will go over deploying the camera system and how to process and get the most out of your Timelapse.
      You can get a sneak peek at part one here.
      ruclips.net/video/oaun7iedzdc/видео.html
      So cool that you get to do a 30 day Timelapse. If you are not using a cam-do kit and just using the standard Timelapse mode on the gopro with the camera plugged in. They longest I have shot a Timelapse like that was about 38 hours and the camera didn't shut off or have trouble. That being said it isn't made to do that and you run the risk of loosing your files and not having them save right if you do it like that. Part of me thinks it could work but if I were you I would plan on stopping the camera and letting it rest and then starting it again at least once a day to ensure that you don't loose any part of the footage.
      Hope this helps. Best of luck. When you get done send me a link I want to see your time-lapse.

      Wow thank you so much for the quick response and your expertise. Such a gread and long answer, that is amazing! Thank you.
      The only problem I have is, that the customer is about 1.000km away and the cameras are set up on the sealing. and while the construction process, noone can climb up to the cameras. And unfortunately the budget and time don't let me get the Cam-do Solar Timelapse Kit. So I have to run the GoPros with a little fan at the back of them and hope, that shooting a photo in 2.7k every 5 minutes will work for a month.
      At the moment I do a testrun in my kitchen (ehere it's sometimes very hot), near the oven and it already runs for over 24h. So I let it there for another 3 days and then I'm going to set them up at the customer and pray :D

      Hey there! Thanks for reaching out! There are a lot of variables that can change what kit you need but I really recommend the Solar X. With the Blink X or the UP-Blink. Tell me more about the project. I’d be glad to offer any help I can. I use the Blink-X and i just got my first Up-Blink and I am testing it now.
      You’ll also need the swivel arm to make sure you can articulate the casing, to line up your shot.

    Hi, great video. I´m looking for a good solutions to shoot time-lapse for bridge building over a periode of 3 months. I´ve a Gopro Hero 6 - what more do i need to buy to keep it running for 12 weeks? Is it possible to run it on ordinary power?

    • @BobbyInBlue
      @BobbyInBlue  5 лет назад

      Hello Daniel, Thank you for your comment. You can absolutely do a time-lapse for 3 months using your GoPro Hero 6. There are many options. Check out the options at www.Cam-do.com. If you have traditional power they have an option for that as well. Here is a link for it. cam-do.com/collections/all/products/dryx-weatherpoof-enclosure You could run power to your camera and put it in a box like this one.
      For the camera control on the hero 6 you would be looking at a product called the blink-X
      cam-do.com/collections/all/products/blinkx-time-lapse-camera-controller-for-gopro-hero5-cameras
      This is the controller for the go pro. It plugs into your GoPro and turns it on and off and tells it when to shoot the pictures you want.
      So on the basic end I would get the necessary power cords to get power to your camera, some king of enclosure to keep it safe and the blink-X to Controll the camera for you.
      They also have a solar option like the one I discussed in the video.
      I like Cam-dos products but there support is lacking a little bit so know that there is going to be some time that you will need to get the products and conduct some tests and get comfortable with them before you deploy.
      I hope this helps, thank you for watching my video and your comment! Send me a link to your Time-lapse when you get finished. I want to see.
      Cheers!

    • @BobbyInBlue
      @BobbyInBlue  5 лет назад

      Yes you can do this in theory but wifi on the camera being always on make it take a lot more battery then if it is just up there and only turns on enough to take the photo and then back off in-between shots. In most cases that I have seen with this that wouldn't make sense to do on a longer term time-lapse.

    Hey Mr. Gibson,
    Ok, it looks like my department will be purchasing two Solar X kits. A question I have for you, and a feature you didn’t mention was the Blink X’s ability to access WiFi through the use of a hotspot USB Fob. Have you tried this? Our Solar X kits will be mounted in an area where there is no WiFi. They’ve recommended a couple of USB Hotspots, but the reviews for these units aren’t good. You have any recommendations? We’d like the Blinks ability to provide us system status report in the event there’s a failure. The system will be mounted high on light poles making it really inconvenient to access. So, it would really help to take advantage of this feature.
    Thanks,
    Charles

    • @BobbyInBlue
      @BobbyInBlue  5 лет назад

      Charles,
      That is awesome that your department is planning to get a few kits up and running. I have used the blink X's ability to connect and give the status reports in a demo environment. I set it up over the span of a month here at my house to time-lapse our yard going in. The feature worked well for what it was but I was on a wifi network the whole time. I haven't ever used the solution with hotspots. As far as I know you need to pay Cam-do for the cerise called Cloud X or Cloud X Pro. I have watch the videos for this service and it looks like it has some useful features I just haven't had a reason to deploy it yet. Also I am just about to get moving with my first major timelapse with the Up-Blink that gives some additional remote access features, so we will see. I too have had to put units in some places that were not ideal to access and really wanted this feature but didn't have the budget for it. In the end I made a checklist and triple checked everything and stayed with the unit to make sure it fired off the first test shot. I then checked it the next day as well. I have had some trouble with the scheduling feature before and had them quit on me once it hit midnight. So I checked it the next day to make sure and then I just let it run and checked it as often as I could or when I needed to switch the memory out. I know this isn't ideal for your situation, that is what I have had experience with.
      I wish I had more to offer in this case but I just haven't had a chance to use that part yet, like you... I have heard some less than ideal things about it.
      Let me know what you end up going with I'd love to bounce ideas off of you and would be glad to chat some more if I can share any insight.
      Bobby
