a unique band. the message is clear. "good vibes. johns alternate tunning, is so impressive. since page i haven't heard such an unusual collaboration. rock on goo dolls
I've had this song stuck in my head for like 2 days!! "and I know you lied to me, but I love the stories.." man I love that line. The whole song is amazing but I just love that line
another one, hit straight out of the park. I love you guys you're great, and everything you're doing. You never fail to come shining through. like you always do. 🤘😉❤
yeah this song is amazing. beautiful. so well written. i wasnt sure about the piano but it makes the song so much better. thank you goo goo dolls for not changing. your music is always great. from super star carwash to now, youve evolved into an amazing band that will be forever be remembered.
And in my ignorance I thought that I found this Yeah, I was drunk tonight when I thought I caught a glimpse of you Up on the rooftop painting pictures of memories And I know you lied to me, but I love the stories [Pre-Chorus] Holding out for something more Like a drug that I abuse It's crazy but it's all we know It's broken but it's true, yeah [Chorus] You can save my life if you stay all night But you don't owe me in the morning You could read my mind, you could make my heartbeat But you never gonna own it Let me know, let me know Are you out? Are you in? Will you say so? Yeah we can't hold on and we can't let go Stuck in reverse [Verse 2] Your broken glass shines like diamonds in the street It's a brilliant distraction from all of this deceit And I, I think it's crazy how we took it way too far Is it naive to wanna hit rewind, and get back to the start? [Pre-Chorus] Holding out for something more Like a drug that I abuse It's crazy but it's all we know It's broken but it's true, yeah [Chorus] You can save my life if you stay all night But you don't owe me in the morning You could read my mind, you could make my heartbeat But you never gonna own it Let me know, let me know Are you out? Are you in? Will you say so? Yeah we can't hold on and we can't let go Stuck in reverse [Bridge] You're a long way from everybody You're the one that's brokenhearted Can you even see what you're do to me? If you're stuck in the middle of all the hurt and you've had enough All it takes is one word All it takes is one word [Chorus] You can save my life if you stay all night But you don't owe me in the morning You could read my mind, you could make my heartbeat But you never gonna own it Let me know, let me know Are you out? Are you in? Will you say so? Yeah we can't hold on and we can't let go Stuck in reverse You can thank me later 😉
it must just be me but i hear something else something alot deeper than the surface. what you think is a overall happy song is actually a cry out for someone to connect to who he really is. just saying. its ok JR i see you brother
There is a pop production that leaves the listener detached. I am a successful songwriter and producer and I can say this with confidence. I miss the old approach to their recordings. I still love them but I feel really removed from this album. :(
You should realize this was written by a drugged out mormon girl from salt lake city utah. Words stolen by a producer and shuffled around to lying scummy goo goo dolls that is complacent in the theft. Sad considering most of it was an ode to rzeznik himself....boxes...magnetic and something for the rest of us are all thefts.
This song is killer, but I don't like the sections in which it's clear his voice is electronically enhanced with the synthesizer going high. There is no place for a synthesizer in the Goo Goo Dolls. I hope they never do that again, please!
+Matthew Kowal (Matt102490) I was just about to say that...I couldn't agree more. This song would be one of the best on the album if it didn't have those parts. The piano intro is beautiful, there is a decent amount of guitar in the background...and then they kill it.
The songs I like on the album are Prayer in my Pocket, Free of Me, Long Way Home, The Pin, Souls in the Machine, this one of course until the end, and Lucky One if only John had put more effort into it. Over and Over has a great ring to it but it misses something but it's great. All their albums from the beginning to Something For the Rest of Us is 10/10, Magnetic I gave an 8/10, but this one is a 7/10 due to some additions of synthesizer and electronic voice enhancement but Rzeznik's songwriting is and will always amazing the way it's articulated. The song could sound bad but the lyrics he'll write for the rest of his days will make up for it. He's one of the last songwriters that actually writes lyrics that pertain to a theme and have meaning with a background story to them. I happen to know this because the Goo Goo Dolls are my all-time favorite band that I grew up with, I'm a diehard fan who loves their sound and I don't want them to lose that sound. The band as my favorite sticks out from any other, Goo Goo Dolls all the way! I'm 25 and have listened to them since I was 5.
I love this song! I wished it didn't have the computerized part at the end as well however I'm getting used to that part and it doesn't take away from what I feel about the song. John is an amazing lyricist! Well done!
This is halfway decent- but the rest of the album is really not good! I am all for a band to develope and I am not advocating "Superstar Carwash Part 9"...but, they forgot how to rock! As I wrote somewhere else: it's all sing-a-long- choruses for drunk teenagers! Clap now, sing now, clap again... Boring! Sad and boring!
no they're not. they're just getting old. as you get old your voice isn't quite the same anymore so GGD are just writing music their voice lets them to
+sharky1304 Agreed. I feel the lyrics haven't gotten much worse since Superstar Car Wash, but its the music arrangement that shapes the songs. Girl Right Next To Me would be totally different if it didn't have the strong guitars, I just don't feel the emphasis of rock anymore in their music.
Wait. You didn't sing along drunk to Iris or Black Balloon when you were a teenager? I'm 33 and I still sing along drunk to those songs. Wasn't "sing-a-long chorus for drunk teenagers" kinda their shtick?
I wanted to love this album so bad, but it is so bad, it bored the hell out of me, and it is so painfuly generic, with no effort whatsoever, you can't barely hear the guitars, the production is not good, every song sounds the same, some songs I didn't even listen to the end, Boxes is the only good song for me, this album doesn't sound like Goo Goo Dolls and for me as a fan of the band for so many years, makes me sad.
Welp, I dislike this album entirely. This sucks, they used to be my favorite band. This track sounds like theme music to a softcore electric disco porn.
Beautiful song. These guys never cease to amaze me.
mpobkp
a unique band. the message is clear. "good vibes. johns alternate tunning, is so impressive. since page i haven't heard such an unusual collaboration. rock on goo dolls
This is different than what they usually do. I like all there music. This is a great CD.
ジョンのメロディーセンスに満ちた曲。アルバム『Boxes』はまさにメロディーの宝庫のような作品だった。やっぱり大好きだなぁ。
Amo esta canción, los amo a ustedes siempre tan geniales. Guys you have a Fan in Ecuador.
great song! I think is great how this band has evolved, the soul, the lyrics are still present, maybe with a new sound but still great!!!
I love this song... the lyrics are as amazing as always coming from John! 💜
Great song and lyrics. They're true. I'm falling in love with this album.
I love this song, it always seems to come on when my best friend and I are together. Great job Goo Goo Dolls!
This sounds so much better than the 40 second teaser! I was really hesitant with this one at first, but love how it turned out.
One of the best songs from the album!!!
Gawd. That IS us. ❤❤
This one and Long Way Home are my favorites on the album
+Amira Ebrahim Oh and The Pin...actually scratch it the album in general is excellent
Such a great song. Beautiful album overall too.
I've had this song stuck in my head for like 2 days!! "and I know you lied to me, but I love the stories.." man I love that line. The whole song is amazing but I just love that line
after listening to this album about 10 times.....i must say some of his best work!
another one, hit straight out of the park. I love you guys you're great, and everything you're doing. You never fail to come shining through. like you always do. 🤘😉❤
This song is great. My favorite off the album. John and Robby never disappoint. I love you guys.
I am in love with the piano intro and lyrics.
literally just repeated this a few times. omg great song!
yeah this song is amazing. beautiful. so well written. i wasnt sure about the piano but it makes the song so much better. thank you goo goo dolls for not changing. your music is always great. from super star carwash to now, youve evolved into an amazing band that will be forever be remembered.
my favorite song on boxes. Love IT! Mr. Rzeznik is a musical Wizard. Bravo to you Sir !!!
This song has one of the best intro's lyric- and rythmwise.
One of my favorites!!!
This is a cool, groovy song to listen from the album.
loving this song!!
This whole cd soo good❤
wonderful song... I like it
And in my ignorance I thought that I found this
Yeah, I was drunk tonight when I thought I caught a glimpse of you
Up on the rooftop painting pictures of memories
And I know you lied to me, but I love the stories
[Pre-Chorus]
Holding out for something more
Like a drug that I abuse
It's crazy but it's all we know
It's broken but it's true, yeah
[Chorus]
You can save my life if you stay all night
But you don't owe me in the morning
You could read my mind, you could make my heartbeat
But you never gonna own it
Let me know, let me know
Are you out?
Are you in?
Will you say so?
Yeah we can't hold on and we can't let go
Stuck in reverse
[Verse 2]
Your broken glass shines like diamonds in the street
It's a brilliant distraction from all of this deceit
And I, I think it's crazy how we took it way too far
Is it naive to wanna hit rewind, and get back to the start?
[Pre-Chorus]
Holding out for something more
Like a drug that I abuse
It's crazy but it's all we know
It's broken but it's true, yeah
[Chorus]
You can save my life if you stay all night
But you don't owe me in the morning

But you never gonna own it

Are you out?
Are you in?
Will you say so?
Yeah we can't hold on and we can't let go
Stuck in reverse
[Bridge]
You're a long way from everybody
You're the one that's brokenhearted
Can you even see what you're do to me?
If you're stuck in the middle of all the hurt and you've had enough
All it takes is one word
All it takes is one word
[Chorus]
You can save my life if you stay all night
But you don't owe me in the morning
You could read my mind, you could make my heartbeat
But you never gonna own it
Let me know, let me know
Are you out?
Are you in?
Will you say so?
Yeah we can't hold on and we can't let go
Stuck in reverse
You can thank me later 😉
I think it’s “you don’t know me in the morning”.
Beautiful song!!!!💞💞💞
Damn headphones, I crank them up full volume and it's still not loud enough!

Best song on the album. Not sure how this wasn't released as a single. It's way better than So Alive

I LOVE this song!!!!! I can't figure out the meaning behind it though, can someone help me?
♥️♥️♥️
you can save my life
you can stay all night
but you don't know me in the morning
The day after is always a surprise (good or not really)
And i know you lie to me but i love the stories....#Reverse
You have saved my life, by just talking to me. We need to hold on.
Broken hearted💔 one word
love. this. song.
John rzeznik is a musical genius
awesome.
it must just be me but i hear something else something alot deeper than the surface. what you think is a overall happy song is actually a cry out for someone to connect to who he really is. just saying. its ok JR i see you brother
the song is about CHEATING. seriously how do you not know that. do some research. the truth is out there :)
john was NEVER in a fucking orphanage. you clearly dont know anything Michael.
john was never in a fucking orphanage. Michael you clearly know nothing about him or the band.
You can save my life you can stay all night... Love love

You can’t be too successful with your highest watched RUclips video being 74 views.
Hi
I need him to quit stealing my journal..SHIT
swear to God
Johnny isn't going to message me and wanting to get to know me more while he's married!!!!
Johnny is an amazing song writer I'm praying for his soul that he comes to faith and fall in love with Jesus Christ.
Where the hell have you been???...Just "WHO do you think IS" singing🎤!!!?!!!
Me too... I said alot of prayers for him before because I heard about his childhood and alcoholism :(
Johnny James, your religion is a fraud.
Jesus Christ never existed.
The next single
contact, your religion is a fairy tale.
That synth vocals when he sings "in reveeerse in" is so so weird.
Yeah, really unlike Goo Goo Dolls..
defuq((?!?! so why youre listening?
***** I'm not hating on Goo Goo Dolls, so stop getting your knickers in a knot respect people's opinion kiddo.
Oh I thought you were a kiddo based on your immature comments.
I'm in reverse

Yeah that was weird lol
+Matthew Kowal (Matt102490)
There are a few of those bothersome moments in other songs... pull the pin has something similar.
+Matthew Kowal (Matt102490) I was just about to say that...I couldn't agree more. This song would be one of the best on the album if it didn't have those parts. The piano intro is beautiful, there is a decent amount of guitar in the background...and then they kill it.

+sharky1304 Its not great album. The cover art is good
+sharky1304 The band is getting pathetic
no they're not. they're just getting old. as you get old your voice isn't quite the same anymore so GGD are just writing music their voice lets them to

Lucas Vieira Galvão fala sério, deve ser questão do seu gosto músical

its my favorite album they have done. they have evolved. its been 30 years.
Welp, I dislike this album entirely. This sucks, they used to be my favorite band. This track sounds like theme music to a softcore electric disco porn.
Wrong.
