Charlotte Showell just a little bit of water on a paint brush. Not too much or the piece may slip. I’ve used my kids old craft brushes before, so the brush doesn’t really matter- as long as it doesn’t shed bristles on your cake!

Where did you get your plate that you covered in fondant? I cannot find anything flat.
Walmart. It is a simple 12” round cake plate.

@@charlieshowell Fresh icing will stick beautifully to the cake board. Nothing else is normally needed.
How much fondant is needed for this cake?
This was a small cake (only 6") but with the cake plate and cake, maybe a pound and a half? I'm not positive...
