In this video, Maxx shows us how to make cheap simple steampunk goggles that will work for any steampunk, medieval fantasy or post-apocalyptic game you play. They are also great for Cosplay and Halloween costumes.
All you need are some welding goggles, paint and pipe fittings of the proper diameter.
The pipe fittings I used for these specific goggles were 1 1/2" x 1/2". But I'd suggest buying the goggles first, pulling the flip part off and taking it with you to the plumbing aisle to fit stuff in person.
Pro-tips.
1. Don't spray paint the actual goggle body.
2. Replace elastic strap with a leather one.
3. Buy a few pairs of goggles and make different clip on flip parts to switch between.
4. If not planning to wear, permanently mount them to a helm, helmet or hat.
If you create a pair of these goggles, please share the finished project with me via social media or email!

Huzzah for steampunk!
Reminds me of the ecto goggles from Ghostbusters
I see that. Maybe they could be worked into a set of those for a costume...
@@LarpMix yeah no doubt and they look really cool too, love your videos man
With the right colour scheme this would easily be possible to feature in a cyber-punk LARP too. Thanks for the video
Yeah, add some led's or something as well.
I could see these being used by a ranger for sniper shots; rogues (of course) for disableing traps, looking at gems, etc; wizards/witches/mages...
Exactly, tons of uses across genres for these.
@@LarpMix I love props and accessories that are cross class/ cross genre...
Great idea, thanks for the steampunk prop idea!!! I think it would go great with my post-apocalypse character!
I would also suggest keeping your overall character design in mind too, after all, an aristocrat isn't going to wear the same type of goggles as a scientist/engineer
With the paint on the body of the goggles you could do perhaps a self etching primer maybe
Great tutorial as ever maxx. You can buy dark transparent plastic too for the lenses
Great tutorial and channel, love your content.
Glad you enjoy it!
I am looking in to making a steampunk larp in New Hampshire
Many people still love the genre and there aren't many of those around, good luck with it.
@@LarpMix yeah it is a cool looking one
Im watching this through steampunk goggles with changeable lenses. Came free on a halloween hat lol. Edit. They are actually glass lenses, but have a 2nd, really good sunglasses lens.
do you think the goggles can be worn over glasses becuz I ware glasses and it is hard to find steampunk goggles
I believe the goggles themselves are meant to accommodate folks who wear glasses. So, unless you have really large frames or something, I'm pretty sure these would work over glasses. They are essentially the same size as lab goggles, if you can find a pair at like Harbor Freight or Wal-Mart or something, you could probably test fit them. Good luck!
I have a pair of goggle like these i made for my haunted house costume, you can add jewler loopes really easy to the center and they arnt just clipped on like most. Where can i share a picture for you?
I got the photo on FB, looked good! Tons of ways to add on to this solid basic set up to get whatever look you want.
