I always bring this up, but it’s honestly super freaky that the Commission did basically the exact same thing to Hawks and Lady Nagant that All for One did to Shigaraki. It’s all scarily similar.
This was honestly my favorite episode so far of the season. And that's saying something with how much heat this season brought
This "dark" aspect of Deku isn't really about his morals being dark, but how he could lose himself in his mindset.

@@ImaBobbyMudda not sure how you could misconstrue that as spoiling when deku's defining characteristic since ep1 is to be unwavering in his pursuit to help people, even at his own expense.
An interesting tidbit since previews are skipped. Throughout the season Deku’s been saying Plus Ultra at the end of it. But as the series progressed, the “Plus Ultra” got less enthusiastic and more tiring til this ep where he doesn’t say it at all.

21:57 - Exactly. Deku has to keep his will strong as possible otherwise it could leave OFA more susceptible to be taken. It's not just physical fight, but also battle of will power. Recall how the OFA users were basically testing Deku earlier about his will of what he wants to do (attempt saving first) to see how strong it was. Rage could leave Deku more vulnerable.
Nagant’s backstory was actually heavily edited down, Horikoshi wanted to have a ton more, via a spin-off or a light novel, but he simply didn’t have the time and was too tired.
I want to see more from her too. We can only hope tho

I always wondered where were these false heroes. We have seen some heroes there just for the fame etc. We didn't get to see corrupted heroes, because the commission was literally taking them out behind the scenes.
All episodes before: (wild) "PLUS ULTRA!!!!!"

The way Deku went from “GO BEYOND. PLUS ULTRA!!!” to “I’m fine, really” in the end credits.
Deku genuinely dislikes Overhaul personally shown with his tone of voice, even if he was potentially willing to show him empathy IF he can feel remorse for his actions towards Eri.
Understandable considering both what Overhaul did to Eri, and how Overhaul wants to apologize to Eri's grandfather - his Boss/Adopted Father (whose partly - though unintentionally - responsible as well) but not to Eri (who he hurt the most).

He said that Chisaki had to take those feelings of remorse and regret that are directed to the old man, and turn them towards Eri. If he can’t convince Deku that he’s being genuine, then there’s no deal. Do you really think that he’d be able to trick Deku when the kid is standing there looking like he’s a disgusting insect?
Also lets not forget about Nighteye 😭

I think of it this way.... even though he plans on trying to save Shiggy, he doesn't intend on forgiving him for what he's done. And as seen at the end of this episode, he definitely doesn't plan on forgiving AFO either!! So he certainly won't forgive Overhaul either, not after what he did to Eri, Nighteye, and Mirio.
Heck, even if he holds the "old man" partly responsible for all this too, he also likely thinks what Chisaki did to him was also unforgivable.
So even if Chisaki genuinely apologizes to Eri, and Deku honors that deal, he'll never forgive him for his actions against any of his victims, ever!!!
4:07 - Not alone, yeah, though recall how Endeavor was the closest to killing Shigaraki with prominence burn before AFO interfered.
1. Those dude who attacked All Might were expecting a regular fight and All might brought that "lets die together" energy. Add the decades of All Might's experience fighting in life or death battles and these guys never stood a chance, mentally speaking.
2. A lot of people think edgy Deku is better than normal Deku but clearly he is almost unhinged at this point. His new attitude isn't an upgrade. It makes him a worse hero and AFO knows that which is why he keeps pushing Deku towards this spiraling path of self-destruction

A lot of people mistake edgy and Grimdark for "more adult" and "more mature." (Content wise, maybe; story and character wise, no way!)
In this case, AFO is using the fact that Deku is too much like Nana and All Might to make his lose his mind. He's got into his head like he did them and several others.

@YaBoyRockLee Deku always had an underlying unhinged side when he pushed to his limits. Even shown briefly at points in early seasons (like S2 sports festival). It's the *duality* of Deku I like for BOTH of his contrasting sides.
Nagant is the Itachi of MHA. Security commission aka Danzo and Root, took an idealistic kid an turned her into a murderer just to keep up a facade of Hero trust. I’m so glad both the chief and that lady chief died. Rather than create a balanced society based on All Might accomplishments, they created a fake golden age hero world where no one died, heroes were always good and lawful and there were no bad people. No wonder all of it collapsed when Shigaraki won. They did not prepare the people for the possibility of failure, rather they created a lie that if you worship heroes and not use your quirks everything will be fine. Congratulations. Your shortsightedness created the league of villains and all the current problems. Man, they really are just like Danzo, aren’t they?

Reminds me of Lycoris Recoil (though this storyline appeared first in the manga). Instead of addressing issues of inequality and mental health that lead to crime, what do the wealthy elite do? Build a predictive supercomputer tied to a massive surveillance system and train up armies of child soldiers to secretly murder anybody who shows up on their algorithm as someone who's going to commit a crime, and control the media to constantly keep the whole thing under wraps. All so they can create the illusion that crime rates are low because Japanese people are just too inherently good to do anything naughty.
to be fair all they wanted is a better society. they got a good heart but a wayy too wrong of resolve, so though i'm glad they're not the chief anymore i'm not gonna say they deserve to die. tho at least i'm glad that the lady chief died as a hero.

Nagant was talking about how she was ordered to eliminate a group of heroes and villains that were working together to scam people, not that the Commission hired villains to make heroes look good.
This episode was phenomenal. I loved everything about it
I've got a couple juicy dark details on Nagant's backstory that are hard to notice but are there if you look! Interested?
See the man Nagant killed in her flashback? The one with webbed fingers and gills that's begging for his life? Now look at the kids who are so excited to meet Lady Nagant. Do any of them look familiar? Damn, that's dark.
It's implied, but by looking closely at Nagant's backstory you can see an extra dose of angst on top of her manipulation by the Hero Commission. When she was a kid, her rifle arm was wrapped in bandages, as if to cover it up or stop it from activating. Perhaps there was an accident -- or multiple accidents. Or maybe people were just afraid of her like they were afraid of Shinso and Toga. Either way, she seems to have been told as a child to be ashamed of her quirk. Then the Hero Commission came in and told her she could be a hero with it. But in the end, all they wanted was to turn her into a killing machine. No wonder she's so disillusioned.
I've been waiting for this fight to be animated since it came out in the manga two years ago!!!!!! God, I'm so pleased. Nagant is one of my favorite characters of all time. She's so badass, and her backstory/internal struggle is so complex and relatable. I knew I'd like her from the moment her character design debuted cause her personality just oozing out of her. Plus, you know.......mommy.

If the Muscular fight wasn't enough, this one definitely shows that Deku is on a pro level, the more you watch this fight the more you pick up on something new that the kid did. An example for me that came from the manga, I didn't even stop to think that deku creates the faux 100% there. The Third makes it clear that it is his first time using the quirk, and after using it the first time, the second time he is already storing the energy in a complicated situation, and using only one leg to save chisaki and the other to stop nagant, the boy is already thinking steps ahead in a battle. It's incredible.
Lady Nagant wasn't a criminal at first. She was hired as a hero behind the scene to kill to keep the peace... same thing Hawks doing. She kill behind the scene to keep the farce of the hero society because if it's found out that some heroes doing criminal activity... it will make them look bad. Now imagine of Endeavor mess went out of hand before his redemption arc and Lady Nagant didn't kill the old commissioner.... Endeavor would been on the hit list.
Maybe even the whole Todoroki/Himura family on the hit list just in case.😳
Yoooo Adorkable was so invested I swear I saw stars in her eyes at one point. This is one of those episodes where Horikoshi is just leading our emotions around by the nose and he knows it. What a treat lmao
Dang....I feel like, bc of how crazy awesome Deku's new powers and the animation are, some people (as I've already seen in other channels lol) are gonna completely ignore Nagant's backstory, but it really is some dark stuff man...I hate when they introduce a new cool character and you can only seen them for 2-3 eps🤣 in the manga, there's an extra section where Horikoshi (the author) said that after he finished the story, he'd like to do a lady nagant's spinoff, but given his health conditions, I'm sure that's not gonna happen.

@@YaBoyRockLeeactually it's ok if you don't....most people liked Nagant in the manga bc of her character design, her quirk and her backstory, but even in there she lasted like...4 chapters I think. MASSIVE Himeno vibes (from chainsaw man, lasted 3 eps SMH🤣). The ep was almost perfect, I just think they should have given a little more insight into her backstory..i think bc of the censorship they weren't able to show every single thing, cause i saw a lot of anime onlys finishing the ep like "ok, she was used by the comission, and.....that's it guys, till next week". IMO i think they could've extended her backstory a little more, cause i had the impression some people didn't even understood what was happenin behind the scenes (Rock my man........some people were like "oh she was a hero back then? I didn't know" bro they said that literally last week🤣 like WHAT)

Also, I'm sure most noticed by now how not only has his voice gotten deeper this episode, but how it has been getting deeper with each passing episode, especially this season.
*Lady Nagant was used and then betrayed by the Commission, and then used and betrayed again by All for One. I really hope she can catch a break in the future.*

Lady Nagant was a hero from the beginning, they used and manipulated her to kill people who was either a threat or potentially a problem. The hero commission never uses villains, only innocent children like Hawks.
There's a UK show called misfits where they get super powers and a guy like ofa but he takes cash or powers to exchange or take powers from people, think yall would love it even off channel, I loved it
11:22 is yet another translation error. In other subs and in the manga she says that a future with All For One in control is "a hell of a lot more transparent" instead of "makes more sense." Honestly the subs for MHA this season have been fairly awful at times

To think how quirk was something bad and needed at same time when AFO still be king of world a.k.a japan, so crazy AFO when track his brother allong with the rebels (2nd and 3rd generation) we can assume their quirk was strong that can protect 1st generation from AFO and his army.

To explain faux 100%. Deku needs to combine Black whip (elastic power) + OFA 45% + Fa Jin (Release stored energy). The consensus among readers is that with Faux 100%, Deku can probably reach the same speed as OFA 100% Full Cowl alone. But it is definitely weaker in Germany of strength. Deku strenght in Faux 100% is higher than OFA Full Cowl 45% but weaker compared to OFA Full Cowl 100%. I would say that Faux 100% (while Deku is in 45% Full Cowl OFA) is around 55% Full Cowl but with out any recoil. Why, well we (manga readers) believe that its release of energy that was released ones before but part of it was stored in a quirk. Its not a power/strenght released from Dekus body/muscles but from the Fa Jin as a quirk

I always saw it this way. Thanks to hawks and lady nagant mission's, they where allowed peace for a really long time.
Lady nagant was conflicted because she killed the villains before they caused the damage. But honestly that is the best option. You cant let a villain kill people if you know you can stop it.
The problem is the label of "villain" by whom before they actually did anything. That could lead to false discrimination and being punished for it.

I don't think deku can go dark now. He said he is trying to save the villain and he has the one for all crew supporting that decision. It would have been cool if he would have went to the dark side, but I think it's too late for that story to happen

Ok listen I have been a major hater towards hawks since he killed twice but now I’m pissed, so he tells hawks that once he serves his time in prison he can return to society, the same society that made him a villain, and instead of choking twice out and incapacitating him he choose to just let him stay awake and to kill him, but this villain who just tried to shoot deku isn’t treated the same as twice, hawks doesn’t tell her that once her prison time is up she can rejoin society, no instead he talks to her like a hero when in reality she’s just as bad as twice, so in the immortal words of twice “I hope you die hawks, who are you to look at me and call me unlucky, I was happy to be here.”
Saying deku is stronger than Endaevour has to be a joke 😭😭😭 eventually he will be but damn
How is that a joke to think, especially after this episode? He beats Endeavor clearly with speed/force now with new combo faux 100%. Though there's others aspects to account for too when looking at overall capabilities.

There nothing to establish Endeavor definitively above Deku in power, his interpretation is justified to think of Deku with this latest episode. So it's easily arguable.
