Hehe, it was nice to meet some locals. In Japan, it was a bit more difficult to have day-to-day interactions than in other countries, we found. (Now we're in India, where you have a hundred interactions a day, lol.)
I hear lots of negativity towards foreigners from older generations in mainly Eastern Asia, but I disagree, i personally feel they are more relaxed and just enjoying time. My experience 🥰🥰🥰
Steph and Pete! I LOVE these nightlife videos! Those businessmen were so friendly! I couldn’t stop laughing when he was trying to guess where you guys are from. He listed Norway, Ukraine, Canada etc. 😂😂😂. I can’t wait to go check out Izakayas!!! So fun!
Thank you! We love making them! It's a treat to make a video without looking after Hays. Of course, we'd choose traveling with him, but documenting without him is certainly easier (though way less entertaining.) Nice to have a night alone every once in awhile. The grandparents are coming to India in about a month, so more babysitting on hand! :)
40 years ago I walked through Ameyoko almost every day on the way home from University but never stopped to drink. Now I live in outside of Japan. I will go to Ameyoko for drinking next month finally! Thank you for your great video. I will try those izakaya😊
Tokyo is on our list. Growing up a Okinawan neighbor would watch us quite frequently and at a young age I ate tons of Japanese food. Love the culture and all the many crazy things about Japan. I have a rode micro. But have moved to the rode wireless mic. Love the night out, if you come to Charleston, we can do it! Lots of breweries and cocktail lounges.
Steph and Pete, welcome to Tokyo 👍 Did you drink a lot at the izakaya 🍺 Was the yakitori delicious 😄 I hope many Americans will come to Japan after watching this video 🙌
Ooooh! I love Ueno! Literally the only place in Japan where I got drunk. 😅 It’s beautiful in the afternoon to night time, when the restaurant lights slowly turn on. The people are so friendly, too!
I just finished watching this video. I rated your videos as the best of all the Western videos I've seen. Wow. You're from Tennessee and the UK. I've been in both for a short period of time, so maybe I was attracted to you in some way. In particular, the people of Tennessee took care of me. It was related to Tennessee Meiji Gakuin in Sweetwater, which is now closed. The people in Tennessee were so kind that I was always on the verge of tears. Anyway, thanks for sharing how you two enjoyed Ueno Ameyoko (I actually live near there). I enjoyed it a lot. Take care, Stay well you guys. And good luck for Hays' future.
Aw, Yutaka, what a lovely comment!! That's very cool that you've spent time in both the UK and Tennessee. Have you visited Chattanooga? That's where we're from. Ueno Ameyoko was one of our favorite neighborhoods we saw during our whole time in Japan. So vibrant! Thanks for watching our videos.
Loved the drink counter! If Steph gets to drink #10 I bet she tries to fight the Purikura booth 😅 MainX24 this weekend, I’ll be keeping a drink counter in my head in solidarity ✊
You guys know how to have fun in Tokyo. I'd rather go from one izakaya bar to another in Ueno's Ameyoko than go to a fancy sushi bar or restaurant. By the way, there are many izakaya around Akabane station, so you can enjoy it.
Omg I know… Purikura today is so filtered! I missed the machines from the old days lol 😢 Someone should do Purikura retro… perhaps a hybrid of Korean and Japanese machine lol
Great video, except no Hays, in section where you talk about babysitters you've have had in other cities there was no mention of grandparents on call and not sure how I feel with drink counter 🤔. So glad you have a microphone and loved interaction with other bar hoppers.
12:00 No, he's NOT "super friendly." You are simply feeling the contrast between Japanese social etiquette, which is group based, and American social etiquette, which is individual based. In the eyes of the Japanese, Americans act incredibly selfish. Japanese are so sensitive about interactions with others.
Please don't get tricked by Japanese "friendliness." They all go into "sudden friendly mode" because: 1. They don't feel threatened because they know that you are tourists and will be leaving Japan soon. 2. They want free Engrrrrrish lessons. Japanese are notorious for ignoring or getting very angry at foreigners who attempt to speak Japanese.
This video got much better with time :) Thank you Steph and Pete
Hehe, thanks for sticking with it.
I'd love to visit that yakiniku place one day. The place looks so good 🍻 Japanese gentlemen are very friendly to you guys especially to Steph 😊

We've met loads of older locals along our travels and always enjoy their company!

Let us know if you check out any of those places! We were just talking about that tempura last night- it was incredible. 🍻
I think people are friendly also because you guys are always smiling🎉❤
Maybe! That's a good point. :)

Yay you made it to Tokyo! The food looks amazing!
It was!! (But we miss Korean food a lot, too.) :)
Steph and Pete, welcome to Tokyo 👍 Did you drink a lot at the izakaya 🍺 Was the yakitori delicious 😄 I hope many Americans will come to Japan after watching this video 🙌
We did drink quite a lot and the yakitori WAS delicious!
Crashed in and found your amazing channel! Have fun and welcome to Japan!
Aw, thanks for being here! Enjoy!
It's fun to go in and out of those little bars and just get a bit of food. Kind of like Spanish tapas, but Japanese style.
I binge-watched your Japan Vlogs! I really enjoyed them. The boy band which you mentioned at the arcade is “BE:FIRST”.
Aw, that means a lot to us! Thank you! And glad you enjoyed-- including the boy band we didn't know 😆😆😆
Your smile was so beautiful and it was fun to watch!
There are cafes like this in Japan too! Watch the "甘味処 どんぐり" video!
Thank you for watching!
I juz noticed....Hays walks exactly like Stephanie!!
Hehehe really?
Loving your videos! I think it would be fun to go drinking with you guys. :-) But instead...I'll buy you some coffee.
Rudy! THANK YOU! So kind. Maybe one day in real life. :) (But then it'll be our turn.)
Ooooh! I love Ueno! Literally the only place in Japan where I got drunk. 😅 It’s beautiful in the afternoon to night time, when the restaurant lights slowly turn on. The people are so friendly, too!
We're lucky to have stumbled upon this neighborhood! It was because of our partnership with Mimaru, and they suggested their location there.

LOL. What number did you get to at MAINx24 last weekend?
it's a very good video😀
Thanks for watching!

Us too!!! Thanks for watching. We'll have to check out Akabane next time!

アメ横という街は、アメリカの進駐軍の放出物資がたくさん売買されていたという説がありますが、本来は飴屋町で戦後甘い物に飢えた日本人が、飴🍬を買いにこの場所に集まったんです。
japanese canned fish is very tasty
I wish we had saved room to try some!
i think this should be its own unique series wherever you guys go "hitting the town with steph and pete"
No plans to stop anytime soon. 🍻 committed to showing that parents can have fun, too. 😉
Omg I know… Purikura today is so filtered!
I missed the machines from the old days lol 😢
Someone should do Purikura retro… perhaps a hybrid of Korean and Japanese machine lol
That's a good idea! Make it happen! 😆

Hello! Thank you so much for watching. I hope you get to visit Tokyo and enjoy this area.
おじさん、かわいい。(^_^)
ちゃぼ😂
あ🎵😊👍
Most izakaya close at 10?! No offense but you’re way off- there are MANY that open till midnight and later…
Ah! Got it wrong, I guess. Thanks for watching!
Get out
일본에 희한하고 다양한 맛의 음식들이 정말 많은데... 왜 한국에서도 많이 드신 튀김을 먹으셨나요?
We also ate it a lot in Korea! And if you watch our other Tokyo vids, we talk about preferring it in Korea 🤫
Side dishes are not provided at Izakaya like in Korea.

The Prikura taken by the two is taken by a cool man and a girl who wants too shoot😁
