    For all the Americans posting comments here: He's referring to Digital terrestrial television from France (Television Numerique Terrestre), The clues are there, French on the monitor - location of the RUclips channel's poster. There are also individual channels in Russia and Australia called TNT which have nothing to do with Warner Bros, soon to be Discovery owned channel. You'll need a very different antenna to pick up this French DTB from the US, even if you believe the earth is flat.

    For all confused by "tnt", you may find much better shortcut - FTA
    Free-to-air (FTA) services are television (TV) and radio services broadcast in clear (unencrypted) form, allowing any person with the appropriate receiving equipment to receive the signal and view or listen to the content without requiring a subscription, other ongoing cost, or one-off fee (e.g., pay-per-view). In the traditional sense, this is carried on terrestrial radio signals and received with an antenna. (wiki)
    Any so called "room antenna" works in similar way, providing higher gain as this video shows something improper - not corresponding to wavelength of FTA.
    May work in strong antenna signal areas.

  • @STho205
    @STho205 2 года назад +20

    Cute.
    For those in North America, a fairly inexpensive RCA traditional TV antenna will be fine. $30 at WallyWorld for the external mount one. A $10 indoor rabbit ear antenna will work fairly well in a strong signal market.
    There are no "digital" or HD antenna magic, despite all the China Box claims on the package.
    Get one optimized for UHF or VHF depending on your stations ACTUAL transmission frequency. If your desired stations are 50:50 then a hybrid compromise model like the RCA with dipoles and loops work great.
    I get 60+ channels from 25 to 70 miles away.

  • @ikedee649
    @ikedee649 2 года назад +1

    Another nit wit idea. The splitter is a passive device and already 3db down trying to feed two receivers in normal use and then you go and short it out to further lessen its effect. Very clever ! If you want to make an antenna of any type where there is an indirect short to ground it needs to be capacitance gamma matched. If you just create an antenna with a direct short it serves no purpose at all in which case just use a piece of wire the correct resonant frequency length matched to the receive frequencies,. at least it wont short out. Had you correctly experimented with an in line wide band amplifier, which looks very similar to your splitter you might, with just enough effort create something of an antenna out of it, but it isnt PASSIVE its ACTIVE so you will need power on it (usually about 15v to 18v dc to get it to run).

      If you don't want cable or can't afford it, then you can still get channels if you buy a quality outside antenna and put it up high, over 50 ft with a good power booster ! The only problem is this may cost a few bucks, but still cheaper over the long haul. Paying for cable or satellite for years can get old ! Obviously if you want all day news networks or sporting events, then cable is a must.

    I don't know who taught him how to terminate COAXIAL cable (2-wire antenna 😂), but he cut off all the shielding on those lines, used the WORST type of F connections, and could have saved money on copper wire elements and just used some wire coat hangers for the performance he's going to get out of this ladder-line shit show he's created. He's also cancelling 7db, right out of the gate, with the splitter; and another 3ish db by using the wrong termination for DVB broadcasts by needing to use an adapter.

    Basically everything this channel shows seems to have the general consensus of "This is wrong because you just use antenna elements with no consideration for the wavelength of what you want to receive, may work if you're literally next door to the transmitter though!"
    I guess the titles should really be "How to build antennae from junk that barely work"?
