The reason some names don't sound Roman is because they are often famously known by their English translations. Trajan's actual name was Nerva Trajanus, Mark Antony's was Marcus Antonius, etc.

The Romans called the Carthaginians "Punic" because they were Phoenicians. "Punic" comes from the Greek term "Phoinikes" which is what the Ancient Greeks called the Phoenicians
