Wows Blitz Tech Tree ships beating premiums - all tiers and classes, and no pay to win!

- Despite the release of the Atlantico, World of Warships blitz is still a game where tech tree ships are competitive against premiums - and some are even superior! this is a selection of 4 ships, one of each class, that I consider better than their premium counterparts at their tier and in their class - proving that you do not need to spend insane amounts of money to be competitive.
And even tough I agree that there are OP premiums here and there, it's certainly not as bad as World of Tanks

One of the biggest problems with Atlantico in my opinion was giving us respawn for the same tier at the same time. Just match after match of two sides full of battleships, almost all Atlanticos steaming straight at each other. It was a complete waste of time.
Oh I'm glad I missed that... I must have looked like Tier 2-3 games...
A very solid argument! I can think of at least 20 tech tree ships that are very competitive and I am not playing CV and DD :)!
There are many powerful tech tree ships which are in some cases better than some premiums for meta or tournaments. It is mostly down to players’ play style.

Good to see you again DFA! While I agree with you choices for the ships, I prefer Vermont over Yamato at T10, but Yamato is solid nevertheless. Also, that Smolensk delete was so satisfying to watch.

For Tiger, I don't know, I've never really enjoyed it to be honest, I think there are better UK options at the tier... in the tech tree!

I agree with the general premise - most premiums aren’t necessarily all that much stronger than their tech tree counterparts, though they can have advantages that are difficult to counter if the player knows what they’re doing. There are truly appalling premiums as well (eg the Hyuga comes to mind…), so it’s not as if paying for a ship is any guarantee of it being even half decent.
But then there are exceptions where premiums are a bit OP, not invulnerable but very powerful, and do smack a bit of p2w. The Smolensk comes to mind (though these days whenever you see a Smolensk on everyone will focus it down 😂), and the Atlantico is another ship that is very difficult to counter in capable hands.
Though to be honest, there are some ridiculously OP tech tree ships too - particularly DD’s like the Shima that can sink pretty much any ship in the game with a single salvo of torpedos.
Agreed - paying is never a guarantee to do well… except atlantico, maybe, it’s kinda hard to mess up this one
My issue with Atlantico is that some South American ship should have zero business out-brawling a Bismarck. It's a ridiculous notion.
Yes, it’s a dumb ship, I could not agree more. And it gets released in a pass with a commander buffing secondaries. What could possibly go wrong?
