- Millions of people are still without power in parts of Texas after Beryl, now a tropical storm, tore through the state and caused destructive tornadoes. At least eight people are dead.

I live in Houston and had power out for a while and know they had nothing to do with lines being damaged in a hurricane. If you are affected, maybe stay out of it and stop making yourself look like a fool.
Houston we have a PROBLEM for year after year
After couple drops of waters falling the sky and getting this city all traffic lights inoperative and all flooded without power , imagine a hurricane and it was cat 1 can’t imagine that thing passing here cat 4 or so ..realize that Texas is not the greatest state to live in
So name the one place where it’s devoid of weather or natural disasters.
Remember texas is probably begging for federal aid. But they wanna be their own country hahaha

Imagine if this had stuck the area as a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane instead.... people better wake up! There are too many people living around this area and a far too vulnerable electric grid and poor to sub-standard homes people are living in. It is not a good combination. I scoff at a Cat 1 hurricane, I worry about a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane coming across the Gulf at us though! Just saying. 😕More people is NOT better, the law of diminishing returns has been activated a few million people ago already!

its amazing, so many hurricanes go through there, I was there for hurricane Harvey, no one took it seriously then, and no one one took it seriously now, until everything is flooded, way over built, overpopulated asphalt and concrete jungle. its at sea level and flat.........where does the water go? Straight up....again.
The power grid cant handle much obviously....man, I left in 2017 and never looked back, i knew it would happen over and over and over again....stay dry and stay safe!

Why Americans driving during a Hurricane?
Now can you imagine if everyone had electric cars.. or even half of that area did… no way. And the emergency services had to wait to charge batteries. We put ourselves in a horrible situation with our oil dependency and not going electric decades ago.
Better still, we should have designed our cities for people instead of cars.
Meanwhile my husband thinks it's ok for me to sleep alone. . . I can only see disaster ahead

On the bright side of things you can often find small bundles of cocaine that I've washed up on the beach after a storm like this.
I'm from Texas and I can tell you it wasn't that bad. We did, however, lose power because of trees knocking down powerlines. The places that lost power were generally older areas of Texas. Newer areas have powerlines traveling underground.
Please don’t speak for all Texans. You can speak for your area only. FYI. There are new areas that lost power. Don’t downplay what others are experiencing and went through.

Texans shouldnt be complaining. You choose to live in a place that is prone to hurricanes, floods, and has extreme heat with 100% humidity. You were warned ahead of time and should have prepared to be without electricity for a month (like we did in Ike).
No one is complaining, but it is a traumatic experience and takes time to recover.
Youre allowed to complain when conditions are miserable.
