  • 3 years ago today, We mourn the death of Garrett Goble, who was a beloved train operator for the (2) and (5) lines who died because of smoke inhalation due to a fire at Central Pk N-110 St. He was evacuating passengers from the train cars that caught fire on the NB (2) train he was operating on, and R142 6346-6350 was lit up in flames. A homeless man setted a shopping cart on fire aboard R142 6347, causing the ENTIRE set to go up in flames as it entered the station. Garrett did his best to evacuate his passengers, but couldn't do the same to himself. R142 6366-6370 was also involved in that fire. The trailing consist 6366-6370 was repaired and returned to service as of November of 2020. While the leading consist 6346-6350 was taken OOS and scrap. Which became the first NTT to be scrapped. And it sat in the 239 St Yard for over a year in 2022. Recently, 6346-6350 was towed to the 207 St Yard in Manhattan, and according to ‪@DJHammersTrains‬, he has a video of R142 6346-6350 being towed to the 207 St Yard. And as well as ‪@TechandTransit‬.
RIP Garrett Goble, You will be missed. Fly high 🕊
Garrett Goble was nothing but a hero, not just a hero, a TRANSIT HERO!
    RIP Garrett Goble
    1984-2020
