Kentucky impresses in Blue-White Scrimmage

- Mark Pope‘s first exhibition game is in the books, Blue defeating White by a final score of 67-66 in Kentucky‘s Blue-White Preseason Event inside Historic Memorial Coliseum. An NIL event presented by Club Blue - the first of its kind in Lexington - ended with Travis Perry hitting a game-winning free throw to close out the Elam Ending.
As a team, the Blue squad shot 43.8 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from the field on 21-48 overall and 11-30 from deep. As for the White, they shot 53.1 percent overall and 31.6 percent from three, hitting 26-49 attempts and 6-19 from deep.
Andrew Carr led all scorers with 25 points on 6-11 shooting, 3-4 from three and 10-10 at the line with seven rebounds and four assists. Jaxson Robinson added 15 points, followed by Brandon Garrison with 10 points and six rebounds, Koby Brea with eight points, Travis Perry with six and Trent Noah with three to round out the Blue.

From what I've seen so far, it looks like an evolution of what Pitino ran at UK on offense.

Kriisa didn't play but after watching that scrimmage I don't see how Chandler isn't a starter. They gotta lot of different line up options that can be effective. Plus this team looks like the got the ability to hit 3-4 3s in a row and take the game over.

Yeah I don't know about that they didn't look like they could hit the 3-point shot very well to me only shot 33% as a team and went 17 of 49 that's not good at all

Take what you will from this post… but I am a lifetime Kentucky Fan… who’s been attending these Blue vs White scrimmages for the past 5-years….with my family, who includes a former Kentucky Player, a current successful High School Basketball Coach in the Chicagoland area, and all 11-of us KNOW Kentucky Basketball and its history.
Now each of us likes Coach Pope and wants him to take this program back to the top…. But we all came out of Memorial Colosseum last night with these exact impressions of what we witnessed first hand:
A) This may be Coach Pope’s first squad at Kentucky… but they are average to below average at best! Do NOT believe what you are hearing from the Kentucky Basketball pundits! This team is gonna get crushed this year if something doesn’t change fast!
B) horrible passing that was constantly being picked off: the type of passing mistakes you learn not to make in high school!
C) forced shots! Some were so badly forced it was hard to watch.
D) shooting was not good! It’s one thing to lead the nation in 3-pt taking %…. It’s another when those shots are CLUNKERS… and there were lots of them. Additionally, when the interior passing worked, and was beautiful sometimes, a high percentage ended with missed bunnies and lay-ups.
E) Most Concerning….Club Blue was responsible for taking this event over…. having it at Memorial Colosseum… and marketing it to the fans….
And they made some very poor decisions in our opinion resulting the dullest and most uninterested BBN crowd I have ever witnessed: and let’s not forget…Club Blue literally financially alienated over 75% of BBN from viewing this game on TV or in-person…
due to blackouts and way overly exorbitant ticket prices ($125 to $2500 per seat) enforced by Club Blue!
And Finally The GOOD NEWS…
F) No more John Calipari shtick… no more “I like my Team!”… “ we are young” … “it’s a process… be patience”… “we are the Gold Standard”… thank goodness!
G) If you were one of the few who did not or could not come see this Blue and White disaster… you missed nothing but a brutally overrated Kentucky Basketball Team… and a poorly marketed Blue and White game that had 50% attendance…. and “childish” games and antics!
Fasten your seat belts… BBN…
Saying below average at best is crazy. Patino always said it takes 1 point to win. Idc what are offense looks like as long as we're disciplined

We re missing a star player. The one x factor guy that is just better than anyone on the court. And we're gonna play teams all year who ve got those kind of players. It ll be interesting to see what we can do on defense
I don't think so. I think we have such solid players everywhere and there are different guys who can be that start any given night. I think Jaxon is the most likely to be that on most nights.
@@rob_t4347 Robinson but he ain't that dude. I think Garrison or Williams as long as they control the glass UK is good enough to play with anyone. We just ain't got that bid star player. But hell we ain't had one in awhile. Oscar was an anomaly and last year cal never would play Sheppard Reeves and dillingham together. What this team has across the board allows us to see the other teams weakness and put the right players in to cause mis matches. .
