@@CobraEmergency What's the ultimate plan for the FRUs? I seem to remember their viability being under review a couple of years back? I think there are only about 5 of these particular Technical Rescue Units isn't there..?
Great video as always. I still don't understand why the uk uses such underpowered emergency vehicles in my opinion. Where I am in Victoria Australia our standard issue police cars are all at higher spec models with 180bhp engines. Our traffic cars 300 + bhp hex even our police divisional vans have 180 odd bhp not some underpowered transit. We Toyota SUVs as RRV for our ambulance service which have 220bhp & all our normal ambulances are Mercedes sprinters equipped with a V6 Diesel engine. I really wish they would give the police & ambulance men & women some better equipped vehicles.
There is no point to higher powered vehicles in central London. The ones they use are fully up to the job. A little further out of the city, EVOs and the like are the norm.
@@donepearce Evos aren't around at all anymore. Whilst you're right in that having high perforcrmance vehicles as response cars is useless in urban areas, some current vehicles are woefully inadequate and not fit for purpose. A 1.0 engine is obviously going to struggle with 2-3 officers and kit. Thankfully the slightly newer auto vehicles like the Astras and 2 series are somewhat better, although are still don't shift particularly well - especially as the 2 series is quite a big car.
@@notme188 Dublin Fire Brigade have a number of DCAs and RRVs, as a lot of their Firefighters are PHECC certified EMT1s and Paramedics. They rotate the (trained) staff from fire fighting to Ambo duties once every few weeks, which I find excellent. More Firefighters in the UK should be qualified to such levels. The ability to stabilise a casualty prior to the arrival of a Paramedic Ambulance significantly increases their survivability when dealing with traumatic injuries, severe burns and smoke inhalation, which Fire obviously encounter regularly.
@@thescottishpanda5 no because they'll be Kent officers with their driving school, their route just takes them out of their force area. Very common on advanced and motorcycle courses because you can cover hundreds of miles a day. Hendon have lots of vehicles for advanced courses, Jaguars and Mercedes as well as the common BMW!
Interesting! It does make sense that they'd drive far out of their city. It must be a drain on the officers though, having to drive that far out! Mercedes and Jaguars must be lovely cars to drive long distances! I'd love a car like that! Also, are you an emergency worker? If so how long for and what service if you don't mind me asking? (I've seen you commenting on many response videos and I just wondered whether you're quite knowledgeable because of research, or because of your profession).
Great collection!
I love them old FRUs!
Brill video! That FRU siren is the best 😍!!

Amazing!

Very Nice!
That V90 is from Kent Police. SE999V has got a video or two featuring that exact plate and light setup. Interesting to see it in London!
Could it not be a demo?
Oh interesting, I have seen it several times in London. Does DTU with other units
@@CobraEmergency can you think why would it have come down from Kent?
@@Horizon301. it might be, but the Met are getting V90s anyway. It seems a bit odd that they're taking one from Kent though!

Quick question - do you consider yourself based in the uk or america?
UK is where CobraEmergency is based. But the North America channel sources it's content from America.
CobraEmergencyVideos - North America ok thanks!
