And some people cut the plastic trim under the bonnet in the engine bay. Does the bonnet go up by itself once you release it under the bonnet, or do you have to guide it up?

Hey no, once you open it and unlock the clip of the bonnet, the struts hydraulics will automatically push the bonnet up on its own. @@haz_raf
