    Please make this comment seen!
    The ledge you are sitting on is the same ledge where I had my picnic with a friend. We couldn't advance because in front of us was a tourist with no mountain knowledge that tried it alone. The tourist broke his leg in the caves... Another dude pulled him up for hours while my friend and me each took a second bag to help. No helicopter could come, the weather had changed in an instant.
    If you read this comment be aware that it is NOT a good idea to :
    - do this alone.
    - do it for the first time without someone that has done it before.
    - prefer filming equipment instead of water and food.
    - sell it as an adventure.
    For most of the people that live in the area and do the via ferrata often it might be an adventure. But even so, the risk is real.
    Be careful and take care.

      As a climber who is had a few epics myself. I find is mildly amusing how tourists think the mountains are just a theme park that doesn't require any physical fitness.
      We have a problem with tourists in Canada getting stuck on Castle mountain from fallowing routes on the All trails app not realizing it is alot of route finding in 3rd class terrain and the weather near the peak changes rappidly

    • @BrassLock
      @BrassLock Месяц назад +4

      We have similar problems with naive lone tourists in Tasmania getting lost in the vast thick scub (with no locator beacons in their backpacks).
      People also go swimming alone on unpatrolled beaches, and get drowned by strong rip-currents that drag them out into rough surf.
      Fishing alone on slippery rocks with steep falls into the ocean is also an increasingly common way to drown.
      Having a "buddy" with you is giving yourself a fighting chance to get rescued.
      I got washed off the flat rocks fishing at Quabba Station at the remote Western Australian coastline and was stopped from falling down into the ocean by my buddy (thank you Alister, you saved my life).

    Some people have been asking how I got down. There's a sort of trail on the other side of the mountain that takes you all the way back to the campsite. It took me 4 hours to get down, and I arrived at the van by 1 AM. But to be honest, that was the easiest part. Please do NOT attempt this route if you don’t have experience-it is extremely dangerous.

Let people do what they want (for instance I also did this via alone), but you could agree that it is better to just "warn" people not to do it alone. For the 0.001% unexperienced people that would go there and be exposed to danger. Maybe it could save them, maybe it won't. But there is more chance that it will help that it won't right ? So why not just warn them to not go there alone ? It's just a mention of smth, why do you go "uhr he's telling it's sketchy so it's enough for unexperienced people to not go there" but man people are dumb, so where's the harm in taking 3s to warn people ??? If you are interested in via ferratas, there are difficulty and endurance ratings. The Daubenhorn Via Ferrata is the most difficult level in Switzerland (K6) start with an easy one like K2 or K3 and work your way up. Having experience in rock climbing and mountaineering to me it was great fun, I loved the big cage and actually at the top where you unclipped there is an extra part which is the scariest of them all but super nice if you like the adrenaline kick. Also always start early, you were probably by yourself because everybody else was long gone. But kudos for pushing though 👌🏼

    > 100% do the cable car or better yet: stay at the hotel at the top of the lift. You want to start this at sunrise or within 30m-1h (8-9am latest) from lift open as completing this takes 8h-10h. Even if you're an expert there's some bottle necks and you might have to wait long times to cross certain sections. If you have a stay at the hotel you obviously don't have to down climb (2h) in case you miss the last lift which closes quite early 4-5pm. This by no means can be compared to the Muren or Almenalp feratta, this Feratta is the real deal. Bring 4-5kcals in snacks minimum and 3L of water to summit before sunset. Enjoy the spa in Leukerbad the next day ;)

      One question, I rock climb but have never done Via Ferrata, is there anything to catch a fall, or would you just slide down to the next anchor? I mean a lot was a traverse but with the more vertical elements I think I would much rather just trad climb, atleast I know I wont fall far.

    2:15 'we should be save with this': with this safety system, if you fall, you will not fall to death, but potentially still be in quite big trouble, because you need to be able to pull you up by yourself. After that, I’d get jelly-legs & severe anxiety at worst possible moments on the cliff, further endangering my life, and was tied to the growing knowledge of how badly things could have gone for me and my friends. Now, I only do the same hikes my mom does. As for spelunking, like who thought it was a good idea to teach 15yo me that 4hrs spelunking in deep caves is a fun hobby! I wince thinking about all the close calls in there……

    Did the short via ferrata (just pass the flag) 2015. Wanted really to do the long route, but as I was running marathon 6 days later (and even though it was called "Königsschlösser ROMANTIC marathon" (In Füssen, next to famous Neuschwanstein castle)), I managed to do right decision and stick to short route. 😅 When walking back via regular hiking trail, made a stop, sat down, removed helmet, placed it next to bag - and helmet just rolled down the mountain, far-far away, and so it stayed there, somewhere .. 😊

    This looks insanely hard i did noticed you had the karabiners facing the same way at some points and its important to put the openings on other sides of the rope

    Was about to say this looks fun until I saw that tight rope type thing like there is no way. As with all climbing it all comes down to how much you trust the protection but the exposure level is crazy, especially with that tight rope section

    As someone who only does B, little bit of C klettersteig, when going up, I use one of the carabieners to hook onto to ladder sports, so that IF you would fall, it is no more then a meter, instead of 3 to 5 meters down. Cause you will break something along the way

    My son who was 14 at the time and my husband did it together 4 years ago. I spent the whole day sat on our balcony with binoculars absolutely terrified all day. They missed the last cable car down and had to walk down for the extra hour or so. Watching this video makes me realize how crazy this hike was. 😮

    Very well filmed! This is known as the hardest via ferrata in switzerland. As Bernardo mentioned: it's definitively not for beginners. Although it normally doesn't take 12 hours to make it. I did it in 5 hours and I was not fast at all compared to other climbers.
    There is an exit after the first third of the route (where Bernardo paused in the gras). So if one is not sure to be ready, he can start and decide at this exit to proceed or not.
    If you don't feel well alone: the via ferrata is crowded during summer season.

    • @atrib_
      @atrib_ 2 месяца назад

      Still not the hardest, that's the K6 in Charmey. However, Charmey has a 20m difficult section, whereas Daubenhorn is long and arduous. But individual sections are not demanding in isolation.
