  • As summer approaches, one of the common problems to watch out for is called ‘unwettable soil’. When you apply water, it actually runs all over the place. It doesn't soak in and that's a sign that it's not going to get down to the roots of your plants. 💦🌱
So as you can imagine, it's quite devastating for plants because they miss out on any water that does happen to fall in their area.
Seasol Super Soil Wetter & Conditioner is a wetting agent, soil conditioner and plant health treatment all in one. It improves water penetration in all soils and reduces soil drying.
This can be applied in a watering can, garden sprayer or by a hose and applicator. Mix 50 litres of concentrate with 9 litres of water and apply it every three to six months.
For extremely poor soils like this gutless sand, you can actually double the amount of concentrate and you apply it every two weeks until you see that the moisture is starting to descend into the soil.
It’s important that after you've applied Seasol Super Soil Wetter & Conditioner, you wash it off the foliage of your plants because you want to prevent any burning from happening.
By increasing water efficiency and minimising water runoff it also maximises nutrient uptake. It contains liquid compost to improve and condition the soil, ensuring your plants receive the nourishment they need.
Because it's bolstered with Seasol, it helps to promote a really strong root system and that then of course leads to healthy plants.
And the wetting agent side of things has a long lasting effect, at least a couple of months. So that means that any moisture that happens to land on your garden bed, whether it's from rain, hand watering or even liquid fertilising, is going to penetrate and really do the job.
So you're going to be saving time, and money, as well as lots of water.
If you noticed these wettability problems in your garden or potted plants last summer, now's the time to act.
    Happy gardening!
