    I have the BitTradeOne Checker2. It is pretty similar but tells you the resistance in the cable. It doesn't have as many cable types either. Not all cables are what they claim to be.

    Thanks for this. I was gifted one and had no idea how to use it. Glad I stayed until the end for the explanation of the pins. I was able to find a dodgy cable straight away.

      Yeah its such a useful device. Managed to find what I thought (for a long time) was a problem with my KVM switch to be actually the USB cable GND wire malfunctioning ! Its so good to get visual confirmation that it was the cable!

      Well the emark chips identify whether its Thunderbolt, USB4 and other characteristics etc.

      @@IntriguingTech I've seen cables with chips in (line drivers) to increase distance that a cable can effectively work over, but never any that can increase speed. I'm willing to look at data sheets if anyone has any part numbers for these little things.
